Dukes Creek Falls - Georgia
Dukes Creek - 11/19/15
Yoly and I decided to explore our north Georgia area on this beautiful 70 degree day. North Georgia is filled with beautiful waterfalls, may of them very well known and famous. Many of them, including this one are less than 45 minutes from our house. And keep in mind when you watch this video that Dukes Creek is just an ordinary small creek in the north Georgia watershed.
Dukes Creek is formed at the confluence of Bear Den Creek and Little Low Gap Branch. Dodd Creek forms at Raven Cliff Falls and joins Dukes Creek about a mile upstream from the falls. Shortly after the falls, Dukes Creek enters Smithgall Woods Conservation Area, bisecting the Georgia State Park. After leaving Smithgall Woods, Dukes Creek passes under Georgia State Road 75 and becomes a tributary of the Chattahoochee River less than a mile later.
The trail is a nice fairly level and mostly wide surface ending 1.1 miles from the parking lot at the falls. It drops in elevation by about 400 feet. It's a really beautiful trail where you hear the falls almost the entire way. Great way to spend the afternoon :-)

Dukes Creek Falls Hiking Trail White County Georgia
Dukes Creek is the creek in White County, Georgia, on which gold was found in 1828. Either Frank Logan or one of his slaves is typically given the credit for this find. The discovery of gold in White County and neighboring Lumpkin County led to the Georgia Gold Rush.
Dukes Creek rises right off of State Route 348 at the confluence of Bear Den Creek and Little Low Gap Branch, about 2 miles west of Helen,[2] and flows into the Chattahoochee River just east of the intersection between State Route 17 and State Route 75 southeast of Helen. The creek receives inflow from Dodd Creek, Dover Creek, and Ash Creek on its way to the Chattahoochee River.
The 150 foot Dukes Creek Falls, which are actually located on Davis Creek at its confluence with Dukes Creek, are accessed by a hiking trail called the Dukes Creek Trail. There is an observation platform at the falls. Dukes Creek Falls is one of four waterfalls in the Chattahoochee National Forest near Helen, Georgia that are popular destinations. Two of the other waterfalls, Anna Ruby Falls and Raven Cliff Falls, are also in White County and the third waterfall, DeSoto Falls, is in neighboring Lumpkin County.

See more... Dukes creek falls is a very popular hike for Helen Ga. visitors. It's a decent challenge downhill to a breath taking waterfall view that can't be fully captured by video and or pictures alone. One must visit this place to get the full effect. Dukes Creek Falls in Georgia
Dukes creek falls is a beautiful waterfall in White county Ga. The trail is amazingly level even though you go down 400 feet into the gorge. You can see and hear the rushing water down the gorge through much of the trail. The trail is well maintained. Even though we are into a 2 year drought there was quite a bit of water rushing through the falls. The falls drop down from the top of the mountain through dense forrest on the opposite side of the trail. The hike is about 1 mile down to the gorge and another mile back up. This is one of our favorite trails in the north Ga. mountains.
The music I added to this video is played by our son as lead piccolo in a recent VSU flute choir concert. We are very proud of him and his accomplishments and hard work!!
