Driving Downtown 4K - Boston's Theater District - USA
Driving Downtown - Huntington Avenue - Boston Massachusetts USA - Episode 62.
Starting Point: .
Huntington Avenue is a secondary thoroughfare in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, beginning at Copley Square, and continuing west through the Back Bay, Fenway, Longwood, and Mission Hill neighborhoods. Huntington Avenue is signed as Route 9. A section of Huntington Avenue was officially designated the Avenue of the Arts by the city of Boston.
Description
The middle portion of Huntington Avenue designated the Avenue of the Arts is lined by many significant artistic venues and educational institutions in Boston, including Symphony Hall, Horticultural Hall, the New England Conservatory, Northeastern University, the Boston University Theatre (Huntington Theatre Company's mainstage), the Museum of Fine Arts, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and the Massachusetts College of Art. The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is also only about a block from Huntington Avenue.
Near the Longwood Medical Area, the street touches upon a number of medical research institutions and hospital complexes, including the Harvard Medical School.
Boston is the capital and largest city of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the United States. Boston also served as the county seat of Suffolk County until Massachusetts disbanded most county governments by 2000. The city proper covers 48 square miles (124 km2) with an estimated population of 667,137 in 2015, making it the largest city in New England and the 23rd largest city in the United States. The city is the economic and cultural anchor of a substantially larger metropolitan area called Greater Boston, home to 4.7 million people and the tenth-largest metropolitan statistical area in the country. Greater Boston as a commuting region is home to 8.1 million people, making it the sixth-largest combined statistical area in the United States.
One of the oldest cities in the United States, Boston was founded on the Shawmut Peninsula in 1630 by Puritan settlers from England. It was the scene of several key events of the American Revolution, such as the Boston Massacre, the Boston Tea Party, the Battle of Bunker Hill, and the Siege of Boston. Upon U.S. independence from Great Britain, the city continued to be an important port and manufacturing hub, as well as a center for education and culture. Through land reclamation and municipal annexation, Boston has expanded beyond the original peninsula. Its rich history attracts many tourists, with Faneuil Hall alone drawing over 20 million visitors per year. Boston's many firsts include the United States' first public school, Boston Latin School (1635), first subway system (1897), and first public park (1634).
The area's many colleges and universities make Boston an international center of higher education, including law, medicine, engineering, and business, and the city is considered to be a world leader in innovation and entrepreneurship. Boston's economic base also includes finance, professional and business services, biotechnology, information technology, and government activities. Households in the city claim the highest average rate of philanthropy in the United States; businesses and institutions rank among the top in the country for environmental sustainability and investment. The city has one of the highest costs of living in the United States, though it remains high on world livability rankings.

The Problem is Civil Obedience
Abridged version of Zinn's 1970 speech on civil disobedience at Boston University's 2012 production of The People Speak. Here is Zinn's description:
In November 1970, after my arrest along with others who had engaged in a Boston protest at an army base to block soldiers from being sent to Vietnam, I flew to John Hopkins University in Baltimore to take part in a debate with the philosopher Charles Frankel on civil disobedience. I was supposed to appear in court that day in connection with the charges resulting from the army base protest. I had a choice: show up in court and miss the opportunity to explain—and practice—my commitment to civil disobedience, or face the consequences of defying the court order by going to Baltimore. I chose to go. The next day, when I returned to Boston, I went to teach my morning class at Boston University. Two detectives were waiting outside the classroom and hauled me off to court, where I was sentenced to a few days in jail.

Cheryl Carter-Miller for Good People
Arlington Friends of the Drama presents Good People, 2015 January 9-18.
Good People is the Tony Award winning play that explores the shifting loyalties and hopes that came out of South Boston's clannish neighborhood. Margie, 45 to 50-ish, struggles to raise her mentally disabled daughter by herself. She attempts to get help from an old Southie boyfriend who has escaped the neighborhood and made good as a respected physician, married to a refined and beautiful woman of color, and now living in posh Chestnut Hill. Surrounding Margie are colorful characters from her world; a world of parish bingo games, bars, scratch tickets and welfare... a world that Margie could never escape. This is a play that asks many questions but gives few answers; a play that demands much from the actor, but is amazingly rewarding for those who are cast. Director Jerry Bisantz is not hesitant to say: this is the best new play I have read in the last 10 years by an American playwright.
Founded in 1923, Arlington Friends of the Drama is one of the ten oldest continually operating community theater groups in the United States.

Getting to know the BOSTON Theater District in Massachusetts
Getting to know the Boston Theater District in Massachusetts
The Boston Theater District is an excellent place to enjoy a show in one of the venues of the city. Buy your ticket and enjoy the entertainment of excellent quality. Witness a wide variety of stage talent, from stand-up comedies to outrageous musical productions in the heart of downtown Boston.
Stroll down Washington and Tremont streets, and check out the programming on the billboard. The Theaters Zone has a variety of spaces for the performing arts, from emblematic theaters with seats for thousands of people to intimate black-chamber theaters.
Attend a splendid production at the Boston Opera House. The ornate theater of French and Italian style is known for its bedside productions, such as the Broadway musicals. Here you can see the annual performance of the Boston Ballet Nutcracker during November and December.

Video of 3 Loew Circle | Milton, Massachusetts real estate & homes
- Welcome to Milton, Massachusetts. Located just 8 miles South of Boston, Milton is a town of approximately 27,000 residents and home to the Blue Hills Reservation which offers 7,000 acres of protected land with hiking, biking and skiing. In 2007 and 2009, Money Magazine listed Milton as the 7th and 5th, respectively, on it's annual list of Best Places to Live in the United States. All six school buildings are new and the facilities are state of the art. A popular French Immersion program starts in the first grade and continues through the 12th grade. Milton is also home to the prestigious co-educational, independent prepatory, boarding and day school Milton Academy. We love having the city of Boston in our backyard with its shopping, dining, theatre and cultural enrichment just a short 15 minute ride by public transportation or car.
When you walk thru the front door of 3 Loew circle you immediately know this 1995 Colonial has Great style. The oversized livingroom is that perfect spot for family holidays and social gatherings. There is a comfortable den and sunroom that both look out over the backyard. The kitchen is no doubt the very hub of this 16 plus room property but we are pretty certain each member of the family will find their own favorite place to feel at home. There are five bedrooms on the second floor , the master suite with bath also has his and hers full walk in closets! A shoppers dream! The finished 3rd floor runs the length of the house.
Last but certainly not least the finished basement has four rooms with a full bath, summer kitchen with direct access out to the fenced in back yard.
The Loew Estates was built on the original estate of Boston theatre mogul Elias Moses Loew and his wife Sonja. Presently, the Loew Estate which consists of 2 streets, Loew Circle and Elias Lane, are home to approximately 28 single family houses on 30 plus acres of land. These homes were built in 1993 by Richard Vazza, President of Blue Hill Development Corporation. Newer construction homes, off Brush Hill Road which is one of Milton's oldest estate neighborhoods. The style of construction are wood framed, single families, approximately 3,000 -- 6,000 square feet of living space on acre lots.

Sneaky Ways Movie Theaters Get You To Spend More Money
Between ticket prices and concessions, movie theaters are expensive. But movie theater chains like AMC and Regal only keep around 50% of the revenue from ticket sales each year. But theaters are able to keep over 80% of concessions revenue as profit. So most theaters are designed to get you to spend money on food. And it works, AMC reports that more than 71% of attendees spend money on concessions.

We love having the city of Boston in our backyard with its shopping, dining, theatre and cultural enrichment just a short 15 minute ride by public transportation or car.
Where neighborhood is measured by smiling faces, a friendly nod and a strong sense of community all wrapped into one of Milton's finest buy up areas -- Herrick Drive.
