Lake Harriet Peace Garden is a memorial to bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August 1945. Some of the stones in the garden are from those two Japanese cities. Early each August people from all over the state of Minnesota come together to remember the loss of life on that day and during World War II. The garden is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.

Minneapolis is a major city in Minnesota that forms Twin Cities with the neighboring state capital of St. Paul. Bisected by the Mississippi River, it's known for its parks and lakes. Minneapolis is also home to many cultural landmarks like the Walker Art Center, a contemporary art museum, and the adjacent Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, famed for Claes Oldenburg's Spoonbridge and Cherry sculpture.
Minneapolis is the biggest and artiest town on the prairie, with all the trimmings of progressive prosperity – swank art museums, rowdy rock clubs, organic and ethnic eateries and edgy theaters. It's always happenin', even in winter. And here's the bonus: folks are attitude-free and the embodiment of 'Minnesota Nice.' Count how many times they tell you to 'Have a great day,' come rain or shine or snow.
Districts of Minneapolis :
Downtown
The central business district, major sports and theater venues, the city's main clubbing area in the Warehouse District, Loring Park, Elliot Park, and the historic mill ruins along the Mississippi.
South
West Bank, Seward, Midtown, Nokomis, Longfellow, and Minnehaha Park
Southwest
Uptown, Lyn-Lake, Linden Hills, Eat Street, and the Chain of Lakes
North
Near North, Camden, Bryn Mawr and Theodore Wirth Park.
Northeast
The birthplace of Minneapolis in Old Saint Anthony, old victorian houses on Nicollet Island, and further north the old working class enclaves of Northeast that are now home to a growing artist community.
Southeast
Dinkytown, Prospect Park, Como, and the University of Minnesota
Towering glass skyscrapers, stunning blue lakes and rivers, tree canopied city streets, premier shopping, state of the art cuisine and entertainment, and a modern transportation network and infrastructure characterize this rapidly growing city and justify its identity as the upper midwest's premier (if not only) metropolis.
Minneapolis was destined to be a center of commerce due to its location at the Falls of St. Anthony, which was named by the French explorer Fr. Louis Hennepin in 1680. St. Anthony Falls is by far the largest source of water power on the Mississippi River. The falls were harnessed to power lumber mills in the 1840s and later for flour milling. By 1870, Minneapolis on the west bank and St. Anthony on the east bank formed the largest flour producing center in the world. In 1872, Minneapolis absorbed its older neighbor. Most of the old St Anthony township is now known as Northeast Minneapolis. A small part of the old township comprises most of the current suburb of St. Anthony

10 Never Seen Before Google Maps & Google Earth Sightings! Recently at DailyTop10s HQ, we’ve been trawling Google Earth inch by inch to try and find the strangest things we could find, after 5 days of searching, we think we have found quite a few!

10. US Spy Hypersonic SR-72 Plane
Is this really the latest Hypersonic SR-72 Spy Plane sitting in an airfield car park in Palm Gardens, Florida? After going back in time, it was first spotted sitting in the car-park, but in images now, it can be seen on the other side of the car park on a patch of grass, or at least we think it is the same aircraft.
9. Strange Sea Lights
Spotted in the Parcel Islands of the South China Sea, we can see a ship that looks like it is firing a missile, or maybe it’s on fire. What makes this one even more strange is the other red fireball like objects close by too. The only other explanation we could think of for this is it’s a load of big and small boats collectively made from metal and the sun is setting and at the perfect time this satellite image was take, giving the fireball appearance effect. Again, thoughts? WEIRD! Unless it’s a secret Chinese military weapon.
8. Moving Ice Mystery
Upon first finding this in the South Pole on South Georgia & South Sandwich Island…strange name, in the South Pole, we thought maybe it was just an avalanche, however when you take a closer look it is a very long way for an avalanche to travel, especially when you view it in 3D. Is this a case of bizarre moving ice, or is there something much more sinister or secret under the ice lands of South Sandwich Island? The mystery remains.
7. Strange Arizona Object
Now this one is very strange, almost UFO looking & if you live in the Arizona or New Mexico area, we’d really appreciate you going and looking at this for us to expose the mystery. It would appear there is a random UFO type structure on the ground, along with some type of building ruins to the left of it.
6. Bering Strait Plane Crash
While looking around the Bering Strait Sea between Russia and the US for any oddities, we came across this plane, which looks like something from the 1980s and possibly crashed on Russian soil. From research, news suggests the crash occurred in 1991 with all 9 passengers surviving. The single-engine Olson Air Service plane was traveling from Nome to the Soviet Union States when it was hit by sudden engine problems.
5. Bizarre Ocean Object
Of all the weird finds on our list so far, this is by far the weirdest. Spotted off the coast of the South Pole and roughly 700km from the southernmost tip of Argentina, it would seem at first glass to be a weird sea creature or possibly a secret military submarine rising from the water.
4. US Invisible Aircraft Program
As seen from this Google Aerial shot, it would seem like the US of A’s Invisible Aircraft program is coming along quite well, obviously still not 100% of the way there, but making good progress for sure. The aircraft was spotted in Dyess Airforce Base in Texas. What do you think, Google Maps imaging error, or is this really one of the 1st real pieces of evidence that stealth invisible aircraft technology exists?
3. Underwater UFO
Now this could very well just be a strange looking piece of underwater floor bed, however it does look very much like a sunken UFO or underwater base of some sort & when you adjust the photo’s colours and brightness, this is what appears. It is located just off the coast of the Greek coastal city of Nea Michaniona.
2. Cambodian Jungle Plane
The owner of DailyTop10s used to work in the Cambodian Jungle for 6 months, so he was once looking for camping spots to take guests out on a 3-day trek. While browsing, he spotted something in the jungle on Google Earth, it looked like an airplane, on closer inspection it is around 170 meters long. Sadly, he never managed to get to this location to check it out & his DJI drone could not go that far remotely, so the mystery remains to this day. He doesn’t think it is missing MH370, however it did only appear a few weeks after the crash.
1. North Sentinel Island Shipwreck
Finally, on the list is this shipwreck, not a total mystery after some research, it’s the shipwreck from a crew who got stranded on North Sentinel Island. They were all killed in 1981 when the cargo ship landed ashore in a storm. A tribe would be there fatality.
Rescue crews tried to reach them, only to be speared at from the shore by tribal people.
