Cincinnati - The Queen City in 360
This is a 360 Video of Cincinnati. You can move the screen to see any direction you would like. If you do not move the screen, we have edited this video to move the screen for you, to show you landmarks that we wanted to feature.
We enter Cincinnati on the Brent Spence Bridge I-71 with our 360 Camera mounted on our vehicle, and then hope on a bicycle to enter Cincinnati crossing the Purple People Bridge. We did most of the video on a bicycle because we really wanted to show the heart of this great city.
Cincinnati, although an older city is relatively a clean city. It was incorporated as a town in 1802. Its nickname comes from the locals in the early 1800s referring it to as the Queen of the West, curing our countrys westward expansion.
It is a city of great artistic character. The Ohio River flows through downtown on its southern border with Covington, KY on the opposite side. In this video we feature the waterfront areas with its bridges including the Roebling Suspension Bridge and the Purple People Pedestrian Bridge (also know as Newport Southbank Bridge. Cincinnati has great waterfront areas for bicycling.
In the Downtown Area we feature multiple Murals, Statues, and Historical Houses of Worship with some amazing early 1900s architecture.
We also feature its 2 major stadiums which sit on the Ohio River, Great American Ballpark home of the Reds, and Paul Brown Stadium home of the Bengals. We shot this video in late August, and actuually could see the Cincinnati Bengals Players walking across the street heading to their practice field which is adjacent to Paul Brown Stadium.
We will be posting an aerial video of Cincinnati soon, subscribe to our channel to see more.

Cincinnati is a city in and the county seat of Hamilton County, Ohio, United States.[7] The third largest city in Ohio and the 65th largest city in the United States, it had a population of 296,945 at the 2010 census. According to the census,[8] the population of the metropolitan area was 2,214,954 - the 28th largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in the United States and the largest centered in Ohio.[9] Settled in 1788, the city is located on the border between Ohio and Kentucky at the confluence of the Ohio River and the Licking River. Residents of Cincinnati are called Cincinnatians.[10]
In the early 19th century, Cincinnati was an American boomtown in the heart of the country to rival the larger coastal cities in size and wealth, at one point being the 6th largest city in the United States by population, surpassed only by the older, established settlements of the Eastern Seaboard and New Orleans.[11] Because it is the first major American city founded after the American Revolution as well as the first major inland city in the country, Cincinnati is sometimes thought of as the first purely American city.[12] It developed with less European immigration or influence than eastern cities in the same period; however, it received a significant number of German immigrants, who founded many of the city's cultural institutions. By the end of the 19th century, with the shift from steamboats to railroads, Cincinnati's growth had slowed considerably and the city became surpassed in population by other inland cities, Chicago and St. Louis.
Cincinnati is home to two major sports teams, the Cincinnati Reds, one of the oldest franchises in Major League Baseball, and the Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. The University of Cincinnati, founded in 1819, is one of the 50 largest in the United States.[13] Cincinnati is known for its historic architecture. In the late 1800s, Cincinnati was commonly referred to as Paris of America, mainly due to significant architectural projects, like Music Hall, the Cincinnatian Hotel, and the Shillito Department Store.[14]
Cityscape[edit]
Downtown Cincinnati is focused around Fountain Square, a public square and event location.
Cincinnati is home to numerous structures that are noteworthy due to their architectural characteristics or historic associations including the Carew Tower, the Scripps Center, the Ingalls Building, Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal, and the Isaac M. Wise Temple.[29]
The city is undergoing significant changes due to new development and private investment, as well as the construction of the long-stalled Banks project, which will include apartments, retail, restaurants, and offices and will stretch from Great American Ball Park to Paul Brown Stadium. Phase 1A is already complete and 100% occupied as of early 2013. Smale Riverfront Park is a development working alongside with The Banks and is Cincinnati's newest park. Nearly $3.5 billion has been invested in the urban core of Cincinnati (including Northern Kentucky). Much has been done by 3CDC.
Queen City Square opened on January 11, 2011, at 1:11 p.m. EST. The building is the tallest in Cincinnati (surpassing the Carew Tower), and is the third tallest in Ohio, reaching a height of 665 feet.[30] In 2013 the Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati opened, the first casino in the city and fourth in the state of Ohio.
Economy
Many major corporations have their head offices in Cincinnati such as Procter & Gamble, The Kroger Company, and Macy's, Inc., among many others.
The largest employer in Cincinnati, Kroger, has 17,000 employees. The University of Cincinnati is the second largest, with 15,162 employees.[48]
Events[edit]
Cincinnati hosts a number of large annual events. Oktoberfest Zinzinnati, Bockfest, and the Taste of Cincinnati feature local restauranteurs. Music-related events include the Cincinnati May Festival, MidPoint Music Festival, and Cincinnati Bell/WEBN Riverfest. There is an annual marathon, the Flying Pig Marathon. Tall Stacks, held every three or four years, celebrates the city's riverboat heritage.
Tri-State dealing with extreme heat
CINCINNATI (Sydney Benter) -- Extreme heat is keeping emergency medical experts busy this weekend. Portions of the Tri-State are under a heat advisory Saturday and Sunday because of the intense heat and humidity. Paul Brown Stadium took extra steps to have emergency personnel on hand Saturday as tens of thousands packed the house for a Luke Bryan concert. The Reds are also trying to accommodate fans with cool rooms and misting stations (sections 106, 130, 517 and under the PNC Power Stacks). There is free sunscreen available at first aid stations throughout Great American Ball Park, as well. Tri-Health Good Samaritan Hospital emergency room physician Tim Dake says this is the first time this summer the hospital has been inundated with heat-related medical cases since it's been so rainy. Dake says keeping hydrated even when you're not thirsty is key when it's this hot outside. He says most heat-related health cases they see are minor, but heat stroke is something you shouldn't take lightly. When you get to that end of the spectrum you actually don't make any sweat because you're so dehydrated and [there is a ] loss of fluid issue, so that is a concern when you actually stop sweating, says Dake. If you're in a need of resources to help you cool off, St. Vincent DePaul leaders say they're out of air conditioner units but they're collecting fans for their next distribution which is scheduled for July 29. 40th anniversary of record cold, frozen Ohio River in Cincinnati
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - What were you doing 40 years ago? Odds are good you were looking to stay warm if you were in the Tri-State. But maybe you were one of the ones that dared to walk across the frozen Ohio River on January, 18 in 1977.
Cincinnati resident Mark Clark recalls, What do you say about 25 degrees below zero unless you've been to Minnesota? It was cold. It was brutal. It was very bad, and we still had wind at that point, so the wind chill was terrible.
Kathy Boutiere, another Cincinnati resident, said, It was just unbelievable. There were so many people out on the ice, and it wasn't just flat ice. It was big chunks, so you really had to walk carefully.
Weather records show two of the top 10 all-time coldest high temperatures (-1° and 0°) and three of the all-time coldest low temperatures (-25°, -24°, and -21°) were set between January 16th and 18th, 1977. Records also show the river was frozen over 8 days that month.
The hill coming down from Riverfront Stadium was all frozen, so people were sliding down the hill onto the ice. It was really different. It was like an ice amusement park or something, said Boutiere.
Some were on the riverfront to have fun on the snow and ice, but others more timid to walk on something they had never seen before.
Boutiere remembers, It was creepy. It just didn't feel right. I shouldn't be out here. This isn't safe. This isn't really safe.
If you have photos of the frozen river back in 1977, share them with us on the Local 12 Facebook page, or by going to burst.com/local12.

New places to drink & dine at The Banks
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - One of the most visible developments in the Tri-State area is about to become more visible.
Half-a-dozen new bars and restaurants will be coming to The Banks as the half-billion-dollar project keeps growing. There will be new places to go and new workers who pay taxes. Howl at the Moon and Splitsville are in the old Toby Keith's location. Other new bars and restaurants will soon go, for example, where Johnny Rockets used to be, among other vacancies. The fourth Taste of Belgium Bistro will be going in the new GE office building.
The key to the long term success of The Banks is office buildings like GE and housing. It was a beautiful day Tuesday, August 23, and the Reds were home but think the middle of February. It will be 8 degrees and there will be nothing going on. Businesses need people who work down there and go to the bars and restaurants after work and people who live near and go to them at night.
Phase two apartments opened recently. There are now 600 places to live at The Banks. And GE will add more than 2,000 employees. The banks fills what was once a huge gap between GABP and Paul Brown Stadium.
More housing and retail are planned for phase three at The Banks sometime in the future.
