Ridiculous Dolphin Fishing in Miami
In this episode of BlacktipH, I go fishing in Miami for Dolphin and Swordfish with the famous L&H Sportfishing Charter Boat. We left Key Biscayne and headed 20 miles off the coast of Miami in search of birds, weed lines and floating debris. After several hours, we found our first school of dolphin. The bite was completely ridiculous! Literary every rod was hooked up to a dolphin. Both Jarred and I caught a 10+lb bull dolphin and in total, we landed a dozen fish. The fish moved on, so we continued to search for the next school. Within an hour, we found another school of mahi, boating half a dozen fish. Shortly after, we traveled out to the deep water (1800+ft) and tried fishing for swordfish. After several hours of swordfish fishing and no bites, we decided to change gears and go back to dolphin fishing. On the way back to shore, we found a massive school of dolphin and caught over 25 fish!

Miami Tarpon Fishing : Monster Tarpon makes me crash my boat into a piling! | Tarpon fishing Miami
VLOG 010 Miami tarpon fishing Part 3 In this Fishing VLOG I am fishing around Miami bridges for Monster Tarpon and I am using a 7ft medium, action Spinning rod with a Shimano BIOMASTER 10000 with 50LB power pro, I am Using a variety of soft plastic lures. My Fly Rod is a 12 weight G Loomis with a Nautilus fly reel and I using small Bob Lemay Night Fly and a variety of light colored and bright colored bait fish and shrimp imitations.
Bridges that connect to Miami to south Beach provide an ambush point for Tarpon eating the shrimp that hatch or spawn this time of year in Miami’s Biscayne Bay.
(As I talked about the shrimp run in the video here are some details) This time of year off Miami the shrimp run takes place in January February. During this coldest nights of the year Tarpon like to come into the Biscayne Bay area here in Miami to the warmer waters of the bay. A bonus for them at the same time they gauge on shrimp that spawn and rise up from the sea grasses at night on the full moons. These shrimp ride the current rising to the top of the water column and are attracted to the bridge lights. These monster Miami Tarpon are here nose into the current waiting for them like to drift along. It’s like an all-night conveyor belt buffet of food. The Tarpon also wait outside the inlets for these shrimp to wash out to the beaches on an outgoing tide. In both case it makes for an awesome fishery.
ABOUT: fly and fish tv with Captain Fraser Simpson
I create fishing videos on YouTube and other social platforms. I help you out with a few tips and techniques for mostly saltwater fish but my home base of Florida does provide some outstanding Peacock Bass fishing along with other species so I wouldn’t limit myself to just saltwater. I do also travel to other freshwater and saltwater fishing spots to explore new fish species and fishing techniques to show as many fishing places as possible and help you catch more fish. You can see I travel a lot to Costa Rica a few videos (the old stuff don’t watch it its embarrassing) filmed on the Go Fish out of Los Suenos the boat is operated by my father so if you would like to catch a huge marlin or sailfish or even one on fly rod book a charter follow the link : flyandfishcostarica.com
I also like to vlog with my wife Pam and son Baby Fraser (Pam decided the name)

3F Adventures, Sarasota Kayak fishing with Jason Stock, Owen's fish camp and snorkeling
3F Adventures, Sarasota Kayak fishing with Jason Stock, Owen's fish camp and snorkeling.
This is the first of four episode of 3F Adventures (Fishing, food, fun) video show my partner Mark Soussou and I are producing.
For a very limited shoe string budget turned out great.
Thanks goes out to Breathe Like a fish Apparel who helped us out on this first shoot.
The concept is a lifestyle show that is fun, entertaining and appeal to a wide demographics.
On this episode our host Lauren Alvarez(and avid fisherman) goes fishing with Captain Jason Stock from a Kayak. This was her first time fishing from a Kayak and she manages to get her first redfish on top water as well as manage to get bit by a needle fish.
She then find a local eat at Owen's fish camp. A family owned restaurant close to downtown Sarasota. She is in the kitchen with the chef then dines with one of the owners.
There is also a segment where Lauren does a how to segment on loop knots.
The next day we wrap up the show as she goes snorkeling at the near by beaches.
We learned a lot from this first shoot and many mistakes were made. This will only make the next one even better!
The next show is set to be shot down in Miami Florida to catch bone fish in Biscayne bay with Captain Joe Gonzalez . Joe currently holds the record as the man with most tagged bone fish.
We used Sony Nex 10, Canon 7d for most of the shoot.
Sight Fishing Cobia in Virginia Beach - 4K
In this episode of BlacktipH, I join Capt. Austin from Finao Sportfishing Charters in Virginia Beach to go sight fishing for cobia in the famous Chesapeake Bay. I landed in a tropical storm, which completely messed up the water conditions for the Chesapeake Bay. On the first day of fishing, the conditions were very tough, the water was dirty and the seas were high. On the second day of fishing, the weather was much better. I filmed some of the most epic and insane drone footage of cobia eating baits on the surface. This entire trip was a continuation of the 100lb cobia quest. I started this quest in Destin Florida and now I am fishing in Virginia Beach.

In case you are unfamiliar with the Dream Boat Challenge, it is a season long, multi-species, region wide fishing contest in which Fisherman Magazine subscribers compete to win some amazing prizes including the Grand Prize of a fully loaded Steiger Craft 23 Miami boat outfitted with an Evinrude Etec G2 250 HP Outboard Motor; Lowrance electronics and much more. Remember that you must be a current subscriber in good standing with The Fisherman Magazine, so sign up today at if you haven’t already done so, and get out there and fish! Be sure to review the official rules at as well.
And keeping on the fishing contest theme, we have a brand new tournament this year, the Fisherman Magazine’s 2019 Black Drum Battle. We partnered with our friends at PENN and Unsinkable Polarized for this 2-month long contest which runs from May 1 through June 30. And while Fisherman subscribers are automatically entered in the tournament, unlike the Dream Boat it is also open to non-subscribers. So if you plan to head down to the New Jersey area this spring for a shot at one of these hard-fighting inshore fish that can eclipse the 100-pound mark, be sure to visit BlackDrumBattle.com to get all the details!
Well, the spring blackfish season in Connecticut will be closed by the time you see this video, but as always the season went out on a high note with lots of quality fish being landed primarily in the New Haven area. We did see a drop of 2 to 3 degrees from last week after the weekend’s cooler weather, but the fish were still chewing they just needed a little extra coaxing. I found that a lighter jig, fished on a spinning rod seemed to do the trick for me.
If you didn’t get you spring tog in CT don’t fret as the season remains open in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and the reports I have been getting from both states so far are good. Capt. Mel True sent me a text on Friday after his first trip of the season where he put his clients onto a pile of big fish in Buzzards Bay. They should also start seeing some black sea bass moving inshore (that fishery doesn’t open in MA until 5/18) as well as porgies which is open now.
Speaking of porgies, Capt. Greg and the crew at the Black Hawk plan to begin sailing for them this Saturday, May 4, leaving the dock at 6 AM. This spring fishery provides some great action over in New York waters with some awesome by-catch opportunity including fluke, striped bass, bluefish and even weakfish. Reservations are not required but you can purchase tickets online in advance at
Sticking with bottom fish, haddock season is off to a slow but steady start up in the Gulf of Maine. The weather has prevented the boats from getting any consistent days on the fishing grounds, but when they do they’ve found a good mix of haddock, pollock cusk and throw-back cod. The latter remains almost a nuisance to several captains I spoke to who went out in search of haddock as cod remain in a no possession status for recreational anglers.
And last up, freshwater fishing keeps trucking along. The few guys I have heard from who are targeting white perch have been doing well, but more are heading out in search of trout like Fisherman subscriber Ron Walczuk who has been doing a number on the trout population in Southwestern Connecticut.
Remember that if I didn’t get to your species or location of choice this week, you can always check out the complete fishing reports from Maine to the Mid-Atlantic at

Blue Heron Bridge Overview:
The Blue Heron Bridge is the premier beach dive site in the country! And the best part about it, it’s in our backyard! It’s so popular that there’s even a Blue Heron Bridge Dive Club Facebook Page that we recommend all divers to join.
The Blue Heron Bridge is a FREE beach dive and is accessible from Phil Foster Park in Riviera Beach, Florida.
EVEN THE PARKING IS FREE AT THE BLUE HERON BRIDGE!
Diving the Blue Heron Bridge is permitted 7 days a week, sunrise to sunset.
With the Blue Heron Bridge being a tide-dependent dive, enter the water no earlier than one hour before high tide, and be out no later than one hour after high tide. Doing a dive which is a half hour before and after high tide is recommended for people not familiar with diving here.
Blue Heron Bridge Tube-Dwelling Anemone The bridge is home to countless creatures, small and large, so take your time, don’t rush! Be on the constant lookout, especially for those smaller creatures which may be hiding. On busy days, well over 100 divers will scuba and snorkel the Blue Heron Bridge. Be observant of your surroundings so you don’t get tangled up with someone else’s flag or the bridge itself.
When navigating around the Blue Heron Bridge, remember not to scuba dive in the swim area. Scuba in this area is not permitted. But don’t worry, the lifeguards are cool with divers surface swimming.
Like most dive sites in South Florida, a dive flag is a must at the Blue Heron Bridge. You run the risk of getting a ticket if you enter the water without a flag. TRUE STORY.
Diving The Blue Heron Bridge:
There are 3 primary dive areas of the Blue Heron Bridge:
• The Blue Heron Bridge East Span
• The Blue Heron Bridge Snorkel Trail (South of the bridge)
• The Blue Heron Bridge West Span
Blue Heron Bridge East Span:
The East Span of the Blue Heron Bridge is a little over 20ft deep. There is minimal light here, so many divers bring a light with them. Under the bridge you will find pilings and small sunken boats that many creatures at the Blue Heron Bridge call home.
For the geographically challenged, the East Span of the Blue Heron Bridge is on your left as you’re walking to the water.
Blue Heron Bridge Snorkel Trail:
The area straight out from the beach sits in 6-10 feet of water and is the shallowest area of the Blue Heron Bridge. 600 tons of limestone boulders and prefabricated reef modules were used to build the 800-foot-long Snorkel Trail. The various shaped piles are separated with a trail of smaller boulders. After the Blue Heron Bridge Snorkel Trail was completed in August 2012, sea life quickly made these newly placed reefs their home.
To dive the Blue Heron Bridge Snorkel Trail, enter the water from the beach and swim south (straight out). Once you reach a reef module, continue on by exploring east and west Be careful not to enter the boat channel near the West Span when you’re diving the western portion of the Blue Heron Bridge Snorkel Trail.
Blue Heron Bridge West Span:
The first rule of Fight Club the West Span is to NEVER enter the boat channel! To dive the West Span of the Blue Heron Bridge, enter the water on the right side of the beach. This side of the bridge is where many divers see seahorses! If you stay close to the bridge footings, you will see where the boat channel begins. Fortunately for us divers, it’s pretty easy to recognize, as the last set of bridge footings looks like a wall. Once you reach the wall, do not explore any further west. The other side of the wall is the boat channel.
Blue Heron Bridge Seahorse near the Beach With the West Span of the Blue Heron Bridge having many smaller organisms, take your time. You can explore the pilings by zig-zagging back and forth. Make sure to scope out the growth below and between the pilings as well as the bottles/cans/trash that cover the West Span. From our experience, there are always fire worms and scorpion fish here, so watch where you put your hands (Wear gloves!). Both will cause a ton of pain! The max depth here is about 20ft.

Driving in rough water is often uncomfortable but if mismanaged it can be downright dangerous. Apply these quick tips and the next time you find yourself in a bad situation you'll arrive back at the ramp safely and not nearly as sore.
Prepare before you go out in heavy seas. Be sure that you're wearing a life jacket ( PFD ) and always wear your kill switch while operating your outboard motor. Pay attention to your equipment and do preventative maintanence. The middle of the lake in large waves is not the time to have a minor breakdown leave you stranded!
