April in Paris -- Market Morning, Rue de Bayen in the 17th Arrondissement
The closest métro is Ternes on the 2 line.
Money is no object when you live here. Blissfully unaware that recessions rage elsewhere, Parisians are upbeat in their uptight, trank-popping way, as our GDP roared last year and is up so much this year, the economy appears overheated in some respects.
I continue to note the barelegged Parisian ladies, something I noticed on my first visit here in 1993. Only mistresses and prostitutes wear stockings.
I was dressed to kill, ready for a power meeting with some PTB. Stylish shoes, but a spare pair for the long ride home to the near-suburb in which I reside, for my tired feet. I never wear diamonds before 6 pm, but chose my battle togs carefully this morning. Even the scent must be just so in Paris. ALIEN seemed right this morning, ha ha! That's how I feel these days, anyway!
I had to get up at 5:30 am -- you should allow two full hours to get from point A to point B in Paris. If you're early, great -- you can sit and pull yourself together, so they won't see a hair out of place. If you have a little cash on you, or a lot of cash (for this part of town) you can buy something refreshing au zinc, standing at a café counter. I had time for that this morning -- five whole minutes -- and there's a super short clip up of the cute place I ducked into for a bitter slurp of the forever-undrinkable, foul-tasting coffee they serve in France. Ha ha! Don't even THINK about ordering tea here! If you don't drink alcohol and have a discrimating palate, you might just go thirsty in this fine Republic.

Walkin' In The 17th Arrondissement, Paris (April)
I don't know why once in a blue moon my auto-focus doesn't work, but I decided to upload this clip anyway. This is Rue de Bayen in Paris, near Metro Ternes on the 2 line. There was a lovely but pricey market running here this morning -- it probably does every Wednesday morning. This is, of course, a posh area (portside out starboard home) and was fun for me to gawk at, dressed up as though I belonged there, ha ha!
Traffic is noisy, and without screens for the windows, or air conditioners, and having only single-pane glass windows in most cases, many of these fancy residences are surely quite noisy (but the well to do always have a place in the country, no matter how modest). The air is foul here, and the soot from the pollution atrocious. Always carry a small bottle of water with you -- the dirty air makes your mouth dry and nasty-tasting, and if you don't have something to drink with you, you'll end up in one costly café after another! Which can be lovely if you have deep pockets . . .
I noticed again today what I've noticed for years -- women don't wear stockings here in Paris. Stockings are only for mistresses and prostitutes. They go bare-legged happily from about March until October, often looking smashing. I don't know how they pull it off. But they do, even when their hairstyles are dreadful. It's just amazing.
The French tend to be petit -- fine-boned. In fact, statistically speaking, they're the second-shortest nationality in the EU, second only to the Portuguese (who are also the worst drivers, second only to the French). I rarely see very obese people here, except in my poor ghetto nabe, or where there are lots of North Africans -- whether black or Arab, they all seem to be very chunky. Elsewhere, they tend to be maddeningly slender. Many have no asses! No butts! It's hard not to stare. They're practically concave!!
It took me an hour and a half to get to my appointment from where I live, close to the Paris city limits. Give yourself lots of traveling time in Paris. It's not a big city, but it takes a long time to get from point A to point B. If you arrive early, have a seat and watch the world go by. And feel like the inferior non-French lowly life form that you are! No one can make you feel small as can a Parisian! Their aim is true, and your self-esteem will vanish like your money, in this city!

Paris rue Daguerre & Bagels! Paris Cool Book store, Parks, Markets, one hip area! Oooopla!
Rue Daguerre is an alcove/iconoclastically hip area (14th). A mixed urban oasis of pan-dimensional interests where real folk mingle and live! French/English books@ 2/5 euros!, killer 'everything-loaded' bagels the Passeggiando thing as you saunter with nonchalant exoticness till the veche come home! I adore this city! Paris May 2016
My family and my boyfriend embark on a 22-day trip around Europe with Paris as our second stop. A sweet, short stay that was not enough. We will definitely be back again.
We visited several places like Rue Poncelet Market, Place de la Concorde, Louvre, Notre Dame de Paris, Eiffel Tower. We ate at places like Angelina, sampled sweets at Paul, Pierre Herme and Laduree and we also watched a cabaret, Crazy Horse.
Next stop: Lourdes, France (no travel video though because we went there for pilgrimage) so next stop for the video is Madrid
Oh and yeah, got engaged. HAHA
