Salt Lake City Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Salt Lake City in the United States of America.
What Mecca is to the Muslems and Rome is to the Catholics, is what Salt Lake City is to the Mormons. It is the capital of the U.S. state of Utah.Four mighty walls surround the 4 hectare area in the middle of the old town, the centre of the Mormon Church, Temple Square. It is decorated with flowers and contains the most important sacred buildings of the Mormon community, such as the Salt Lake Temple, The Tabernacle and Conference Centre. Joseph Smith, Jr. was 15 years old when he had his first vision. The Angel MORONI appeared to him and gave him a number of sacred texts that led to the foundation of the Mormon church. A sacred land was established and a settlement created within the desert. The largest sanctuary and centre of the Mormon faith is the Salt Lake Temple. Constructed of stone, its use is restricted to the Mormon religion. It was built between 1853 and 1893 in grey granite New Gothic style with six towers, its main one being 68 metres high. Construction of the Cathedral of the Madeleine began in 1900 and was completed in 1909, a Christian building whose exterior is of Romantic design and with a Gothic interior. Once both faith and diligence established this remarkable place. Since then, Salt Lake City has become the centre of a hugely successful religious empire.

Four Corners Monument
---------------------------------
Four Corners Monument is the only place in the nation where you can stand in four states-Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah-at the same time. Located within a Navajo Tribal Park, the monument bears the seals of each state, along with a brass insert marking the exact meeting point. The Four Corners Monument marks the quadripoint in the Southwestern United States where the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah meet. It is the only point in the United States shared by four states, leading to the area being named the Four Corners region. The monument also marks the boundary between two semi-autonomous Native American governments, the Navajo Nation, which maintains the monument as a tourist attraction, and the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe Reservation.
The origins of the state boundaries marked by the monument occurred just prior to, and during, the American Civil War, when the United States Congress acted to form governments in the area to combat the spread of slavery to the region. When the early territories were formed, their boundaries were designated along meridian and parallel lines. Beginning in the 1860s, these lines were surveyed and marked. These early surveys included some errors, but even so, the markers placed became the legal boundaries, superseding the written descriptions of geographical meridians and parallels. This includes the Four Corners Monument, which has been legally established as the corner of the four states.
Monument Valley
------------------------
Monument Valley or the valley of the rocks is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor. It is located on the Arizona–Utah border (around 36°59′N 110°6′WCoordinates: 36°59′N 110°6′W), near the Four Corners area. The valley lies within the territory of the Navajo Nation Reservation and is accessible from U.S. Highway 163.
Monument Valley has been featured in many forms of media since the 1930s. Director John Ford used the location for a number of his best-known films and thus, in the words of critic Keith Phipps, its five square miles [13 square kilometers] have defined what decades of moviegoers think of when they imagine the American West.
Hole N The Rock
-----------------------
Visit Hole N The Rock, a most unique home, carved out of a huge rock in Utah's Canyonlands Country. This historic 5,000 square foot home and unusual gift shop and trading post are open all year. Take a guided tour of the home, and appreciate the rich history within its walls.
Travelers along U.S. Highway 191 in Southwestern Utah are amazed to discover this historic 5,000 square foot home which began taking shape almost a century ago by the Christensen family. What began as a small alcove for the young Christensen boys to sleep in at night grew into a man-made engineering marvel 20years in the making. A fireplace with a 65' chimney, 14 rooms arranged around huge pillars and a deep bathtub built into the rock delight visitors who visit this most unusual home in the dessert.
Original furnishings, Alberta's paintings, Gladys's doll collection and many of the tools used to create this home remind you of the past.
In a 12 year period Albert excavated 50,000 cubic feet of sandstone from the rock. During this time he completed his famous painting Sermon on the Mount and his sculpture of Franklin D. Roosevelt on the face of the rock above his home. When Albert died in 1957, the home was not complete. Gladys's in keeping with his wishes & lifelong dreams continued to develop the property, opening a gift shop and giving tours of her home until she passed away in 1974. Gladys is laid to rest next to Albert in a small cove within the rock near the home.

Travel video about destination Utah in USA.
The State of Utah is located in the south west of the United States of America is a land of endless horizons, canyons, deserts and big open spaces. What Mecca is to the Moslems and Rome is to the Catholics is what Salt Lake City is to the Mormons. It is also the capital of the U.S. federal state of Utah. The prosperous city also contains many of those of other faiths but the highly influential Mormon church makes most of the region’s political decisions. The administrative HQ of the world wide active Mormon church is, at a hundred and twenty eight metres high, the city’s tallest building. The religion’s financial might and strict administration still exist today. Each member has to contribute one tenth of his or her income thus the Council Of The Twelve Apostles and the church presidency are a wealthy multinational concern. The Bonneville Salt Flats are located next to Great Salt Lake, a huge area covered by salt that is one of the flattest areas in the world. The lake was once used for motor sports and on the Salt Flats racing drivers in rocket-shaped cars attempted to beat one land speed record after the other. Zion National Park is not only a place of natural history as signs of human habitation have also been discovered here. Several of the park’s archaeological sites indicate that Man inhabited this region more than two thousand years ago. It is believed that its earliest prehistoric inhabitants were the legendary Anasazi Indians, followed by the Paiute Tribe. This land of red rock, the Great Salt Lake and remarkable canyons is a wonderful world at the edge of civilisation created by the might of natural forces. A desert land where water is vital and the supply of which is now assured by modern technology. All this is Utah, a dream world of deep canyons and vast open spaces

Great Salt Lake Mirabilite Tour Time-lapse (4K)
Time-lapse video from last weekend's event at Great Salt Lake Marina
(January 11-12, 2020)
[BACKGROUND]
GREAT SALT LAKE STATE PARK — Park Rangers and Geologists have discovered four rare formations on the south shore of the Great Salt Lake – just north of the park and marina.
Ranger Allison Thompson first noticed the salt formations in October 2019. As time passed, she noticed formations continue to grow and eventually she reached out to members of the Utah Geological Survey for their help.
After investigating, staff discovered that the mounds were, in fact, Glauber’s salt, also known as “mirabilite.” Researchers are particularly interested in the precipitation of mirabilite mounds because they may serve as analogues to similar features and conditions on Mars.
Mirabilite mounds are rare and have never before been documented at the Great Salt Lake. They have only been found at a few locations around the world – primarily in the Arctic.
GSL MirabiliteOne of the mirabilite mounds hanging over the water of the Great Salt Lake.
Geologists have determined that the mirabilite is precipitating from warm, high salinity sulfate-rich springs, visible only when the lake level falls below an elevation of 4194 feet. A closer inspection of the mounds revealed that they are a built-up collection of crystallized terraces, similar in appearance to the travertine rimstone and dam terraces that form at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park.
As the mounds at the Great Salt Lake grow, they eventually seal off their spring source and a new mound will begin to form a few dozen yards away. Currently, the beach has four mounds that have grown up to 3 feet tall and several yards wide.
GSL MirabiliteWater from the saline spring flowing through the top of a mirabilite mound.
In addition to the requirement of saline spring waters with very specific chemical composition, mirabilite is only found in sub-freezing environments, such as those found in the polar regions of Earth.
When temperatures rise above freezing, the impressive clear mirabilite crystals that form the mounds at the Great Salt Lake will dehydrate to form a white powdery mineral call thenardite (Na2SO4). As such, these mirabilite mounds will disappear with changing temperatures and the rising lake levels.
Staff at Great Salt Lake State Park will be offering guided tours of the mirabilite mounds to the public. These tours will be available this coming Saturday and Sunday (January 11-12, 2020) and will be available every half-hour each day between the 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Those attending a guided tour are advised to wear water-resistant or waterproof boots as the lake water and mud can rise to mid-calf.
As research into these mounds continues, we are asking that members of the public do not damage these mounds or intentionally remove pieces of them.
Trump meets Mormon leaders in Utah amid plans to scale back monuments
(4 Dec 2017) President Donald Trump is meeting with Mormon leaders during a trip to Utah to announce he's scaling back two sprawling national monuments.
Trump on Monday visited Welfare Square, a complex in Salt Lake City run by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that provides aid to the poor.
Trump spoke briefly and publicly praised the church for the way it takes care of people.
The Republican president travelled west to announce his intention to shrink the Bears Ears and the Grand-Staircase Escalante national monuments spanning millions of acres in Utah.
He has condemned the act of creating the Utah monuments as a massive federal land grab.
The move is welcomed by the state's top Republicans but opposed by Native American tribes and environmental groups.
