Christmas Cantata - Sts Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church
combined choirs of Saints Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, Hopkinsville, KY present the 2018 Christmas Cantata, filled with beautiful music honoring the birth of Our Lord.
Catholic church named after Saint Virgin Mary (Tbilisi, Georgia)
The church (Polish Roman-Catholic church) was built in the first half of the 19th century. When the architect Zaltsman in 1874 built another Polish Roman-Catholic church, the first one was called old, and the street, where it stands, is called Old Catholic. At Soviet times it was named 1st May street, but at the beginning of the 90s it got the name of Alexandre Dumas street in honor of the remarkable French writer, who stayed in Tbilisi, liked it very much and left its picturesque description. At Soviet times it was rearranged as a storehouse and in the course of time the building was considerably dilapidated. Before Rome Pope's visit to Georgia in 1999, this Polish Roman-Catholic church was restored and now beside catholic messes one can listen to organ music there. The major part of its parish are Georgian Catholics and Poles.

Tbilisi stadium largely empty for papal Mass
Pope Francis has said Mass in a largely empty stadium on a visit to Georgia after the majority Orthodox Christian Church asked followers to stay away.
Orthodox believers were asked not to take part in Roman Catholic services and a Church delegation due to attend also stayed away.
But Church officials said the decision had been taken by mutual agreement.
It was one of the smallest crowds seen at an outdoor papal Mass during Francis's foreign trips.
People who did attend in the capital Tbilisi said afterwards that the papal visit was good for Georgia.
This is a very significant event, both for the country and for faithful from the whole Catholic parish, Keti Khitarikhvili told Reuters news agency.
He is a true pope, he is not just a religious figure, but also a very political figure. Because I think that with this visit, the role of Georgia will be raised measurably on the world stage.
With a Roman Catholic population of under 1%, it was not an obvious destination but the Pope has made a point of reaching out to Orthodox churches to overcome doctrinal differences which split the two communities in the 11th Century.
The late Pope John Paul II visited Georgia in 1999, and he was treated as the Vatican head of state, rather than a religious leader.
According to the Associated Press, only a few thousand people attended the Mass in the Meshki stadium, which has a capacity of 25,000.
The Orthodox patriarchate said on its website: As long as there are dogmatic differences between our churches, Orthodox believers will not participate in their prayers.
One Georgian priest told AP it was a protest against Catholic attempts to convert Orthodox Christians.
Nonetheless, the Church leader, Patriarch Ilia, had welcomed Pope Francis on Friday as his dear brother and toasted him saying May the Lord bless the Catholic Church of Rome.
Georgian President Georgy Margvelashvili did attend the Mass. Other politicians may have stayed away because of forthcoming elections, for fear of upsetting devout voters.
Where next?
On Sunday, the Pope is due to visit neighbouring Azerbaijan, which has fewer than 300 Catholics in its overwhelmingly Muslim population.
However, religious coexistence is a major theme for Pope Francis who visited Muslim-majority Turkey in November 2014.
Georgia Day#6 - The Last One
Georgia was earlier a part of Russia but is now a separate country. From its green valleys spread with vineyards to its old churches and watchtowers perched in fantastic mountain scenery, Georgia (Saqartvelo, საქართველო) is one of the most beautiful countries on earth and a marvelous canvas for walkers, horse riders, cyclists, skiers, rafters and travelers of every kind. Equally special are its proud, high-spirited, cultured people: Georgia claims to be the birthplace of wine, and this is a place where guests are considered blessings and hospitality is the very stuff of life.
A deeply complicated history has given Georgia a wonderful heritage of architecture and arts, from cave cities to ancient cathedrals to the inimitable canvases of Pirosmani. Tbilisi, the capital, is still redolent of an age-old Eurasian crossroads. But this is also a country moving forward in the 21st century, with spectacular contemporary buildings, a minimal crime rate and ever-improving facilities for the visitors who are a growing part of its future.

Georgia: Pope Francis holds Mass for Catholics in Tbilisi

Georgia 2018 - Day 2: Sunday Mass, Chronicles of Georgia, & Tbilisi City Tour
2018-02-25 We are blessed to be given the chance to celebrate the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist during our trip to Georgia. We started the day early and head straight to Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church ( and were thankful that we made it in the once a week English Mass celebration. English Mass is celebrated every Sunday from 10-11AM.
From the church, we were able to arrange for a local taxi for GEL 30 (approx. USD 12) to take use to our next stop: Temqa / Chronicles of Georgia, a must-see in my self-made Georgia Tour Itinerary, the Chronicles of Georgia. This is the Georgian version of the Stonehenge in England. Looking at the gigantic and impressive pillars gave me goose bumps! Check out BraveDame’s blog about the Chronicles of Georgia on this link:
The taxi driver took us to Funicular ( Lower Station. The ride costs GEL 12 (approx. USD 5) for 2 passengers, this includes the Mtatsminda Park card (2GEL) + 2-way cable car ride @ GEL 2.50 per ride per passenger). The card is reloadable and may be used in the Mtatsminda amusement park ( We spent probably an hour and a half exploring the park and found our way from Funicular Lower Station to Rustaveli Avenue (
We finally found Marco Polo Tavern-Bar ( at the end of Rustaveli Avenue and right across Radisson Blu. Marco Polo Restaurant serves the best grilled pork in Tbilisi. We got tired with all the trek and walking and decided to call it a day.
