Hospital Cleanliness
Many of us grew up hearing the saying: cleanliness is next to godliness. For hospitals, hygiene is the bottom line for patient safety, satisfaction and cost-effectiveness.Bart Boeckler inspects patient rooms for cleanliness all the time at Park Ridge Health. We focus on the things you don't see, dusting, looking at the corners of the floor, edges, said Boeckler. Park Ridge continuously ranks among the cleanest hospitals in the state. The cleanliness is above reproach if you ask me. I'm in construction in Florida, so we do remodels with hospitals and facilities and I think everything going well here is exactly what we'd want to see from both sides of the house, said Lance Simons, one of the patient's relatives. It is the very beginning of health care. Cleanliness is making sure people don't acquire things while they are here, said Boeckler. Cleaning a room isn't quick. Turning it over from one patient to the next typically takes about an hour. Once the patient is in the room, cleaning still occurs three times a day.It makes for a happier patient more at home and more at ease which helps them heal quicker, said Boeckler.

The Claddagh Restaurant and Pub | NC Weekend | UNC TV
High Point, North Carolina offers an authentic, Irish flare with the Claddagh Restaurant and Pub, where its owners Dennis and Mary grew up in Ireland and brought the nation's delicious tastes and atmosphere to NC. It's not just the Bangers & Mash, Shepherd's Pie, or Guinness that draws customers in, however. It's the friendly atmosphere and Irish aesthetics that have customers coming back night after night.

Chambers Mountain Lookout Tower - Newfound Mountains, NC
Chambers Mountain is home to one of the few remaining accessible lookout towers in North Carolina. The peak at 4,509 feet, is located in the Newfound Mountains west of Asheville and north of the Pigeon River Valley. The communications towers on the peak can be seen from I-40 as you drive by the U.S. 74 exit to Waynesville. The hike is straightforward, follow the gravel and gated Lookout Point from Chambers Mountain Rd to the summit in 2.4 miles. The grade is surprisingly steep. Halfway to the summit is a cleared meadow for cattle grazing where there are good views west and south of the Great Balsam Mountains around Waynesville. Unfortunately these were the only views I had since the cloud ceiling hadn't lifted when I reached the summit. Chambers Mountain is one of two actively staffed lookout towers in NC. The tower is 45 feet high, and although the top cab is closed you can still climb the stairs. If you have a nice day you will see the Newfound and Bald Mountains to the north/northwest, Great Smoky Mountains to the west, Plott Balsam Mountains to the southwest, and Great Balsam Mountains to the south. As I got close to my car I looked back up and clearly saw the towers on the summit, I started my hike an hour too early.
Hike was 4.8 miles in 2 hours and 5 minutes.
Four charged with prostitution in massage parlor raid
Deputies charged four workers at four separate massage parlors with prostitution and solicitation after a widespread raid Wednesday afternoon. I live five minutes down the street, and I'm just absolutely shocked, Evan Volz, who lives near one of the businesses where employees allegedly offered more-than-standard service, said. The suspects are: Pel Chin, 45, a worker at Oriental Massage at 7117 Salem Road in Cincinnati; Zhang Cuimin, 46, of Eden Massage at 8431 Beechmont Avenue; Chunye Jiao, 49, an employee of Massage at 6089 Salem Road; and Cao Haiyan, 44, of USA Spa at 1969 8 Mile Road. All four establishments declined to comment on the arrests. According to Volz and other neighbors, some of the parlors in question were not always recognizable as businesses -- they did not advertise or self-identify with outside signage and kept black curtains over their windows. (Prostitution) seems to be moving into more suburban areas, neighbor Dan Lape said. Nobody's immune to it. Lape added he believes if the women are convicted, the establishments at which they worked should be shut down and replaced.

5 Reasons why NC pays more for health care.
A recent study showed that North Carolina pays more for health care than all the other states.
Why is that? It’s a pretty simple question. Of course, when it comes to health care, simple questions often have complicated answers. But let’s take a look at some of the big-picture reasons that contribute to consumers paying more for health care here.
