'The Making of Exodus' by Alicia from the 'Margate to the Middle East' Exhibition.
This film was one of my first films made (2006) when I was a film student at The University of Kent and it follows Penny Woolcock’s making of a Community Film in Margate, called ‘Exodus’. The backdrop was Dreamland B4 it was re-generated and my daughter had a role as one of the street kids so I followed my daughter through the Casting/Costume/Scenery construction/Training players for stunts/The Antony Gormley Structure/and the big clean up at the end . . . . . Set to original music and the film was a C4 Commission and a re-make of the biblical story of ‘Exodus’. This was screened locally at an Exhibition called “From Margate to the Middle East’ at The Pharmacy Gallery that featured this film and another called ‘Bleak Chic’ which was an ironic fashion show based on consumerism. It had installations & interesting guests in the audience in disguise, featured in ‘The Big Issue’ & Isle magazine and various Blogs. It caused issues due to its photographic exhibition that I created & was an ironic look at fashion, homelessness and war, & raised money for charity, “Women’s Refuge & Asylum seekers KRAN (Kent Refugee & Asylum Nationally) £2500 in 3 hours......
