Thanksgiving Concert - 11/29 at The Grey Eagle, Asheville, NC
Cleveland-born David Wilcox was inspired to play guitar after hearing a fellow college student playing in a stairwell. His lyrical insight is matched by a smooth baritone voice, virtuosic guitar chops, and creative open tunings, giving him a range and tenderness rare in folk music. He released an independent album in 1987, was a winner of the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk award in 1988, and by 1989 he had signed with A&M Records. His first release on the label, 'How Did You Find Me Here', sold over 100,000 copies the first year largely by word of mouth. Now, 17 albums into a career marked by personal revelation and wildly loyal fans, David continues to find and deliver joy, inspiration, and invention.
Considered a 'songwriter's songwriter', he holds audiences rapt with nothing more than a single guitar, thoroughly written songs, a fearless ability to mine the depths of human emotions of joy, sorrow and everything in between, and all tempered by a quick and wry wit.
Reflecting on well over 20 years of record-making and touring extensively around the US and world, Wilcox says, Music still stretches out before me like the head-lights of a car into the night. It's way beyond where I am, but it shows where I'm going. I used to think that my goal was to catch up, but now I'm grateful that the music is always going to be way out in front to inspire me.

Jamestown Revival (Live at the Grey Eagle, Asheville NC)
Last minute road trip to see one of the best American Bands touring today. My wife surprised me with tickets to see Jamestown Revival at the Grey Eagle in Asheville NC. The only problem was it was short notice on a Monday which minute driving straight down after work and driving straight back. Wouldn't change a thing it was completely worth it.

Megafaun - Worried Mind
April 10, 2011. Grey Eagle in Asheville, North Carolina.
The show was absolutely amazing. They opened for The Mountain Goats. Megafaun was super warm and passionate about their playing. Everyone (Megafaun and the Mountain Goats) had a huge smile on their face for the majority of the show. Such a happy environment. Plus the tunes they were playing were just so fantastic and heartfelt. I almost want to say this song was the happiest moment of the show for me, but there were so many I wouldn't want to make myself choose. It was a pretty damn nice one though.
(unfortunately the camera died before the end of the song though.)

Asheville Protest Against Darren Wilson's No I
ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- About 200 people gathered in Downtown Asheville Tuesday evening to protest a grand jury's decision not to indict police officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Mo.
The crowd gathered just below the Vance Monument at the corner of Biltmore and Patton.
Protesters held signs and chanted slogans as cars passed with some drivers blowing their horns in support of the demonstrators.
Organizers say this is in solidarity with the people of Ferguson, but also a statement of what they believe needs to change in Asheville -- better communication and interaction with the police department.
