MainStreet - The Stephen Foster Story
This story takes us to Bardstown, Kentucky and, a production of the Stephen Foster Story, performed outdoors on the grounds of 'My Old Kentucky Home' State Park. The long running musical celebrates the life of Stephen Foster, one of America's great composers who wrote our beloved State song. The outdoor play boasts memorable cast performances, magnificent sets and costumes, and many of the infectious songs written by Foster himself.

Looking back one year ago
“The Sun Shines Bright…”
A year ago, our amphitheater was closed and we appeared to be witnessing the end of the 60 year legacy of The Stephen Foster Story. Today, we celebrate the work and dedication of so many people who have made it possible to reopen the amphitheater and keep the legacy alive. Our county, city and state governments as well as local businesses, industries, agencies and individuals have dedicated time and resources to make a capital project to rebuild our stage a reality. It has taken many partners working together to bring us to the point of new construction and the scheduling of our 2019 Summer Season. On behalf of the staff and Board of Directors of The Stephen Foster Drama Association, I want to express our sincere gratitude to all who have made it possible for Dec 21, 2018 to look much brighter than it did a year ago.
In order to open as scheduled and truly be able to utilize our new venue to its greatest potential, we have one step left to complete – funding a new sound system. We are kicking off a fundraising campaign to raise $75,000 toward this project. Our friends and fans have been so generous this year and now we ask you to spread the word about this opportunity to help finalize our capital project with sound equipment worthy of our new stage and the excellent shows we produce.
Donations toward the Amphitheater Sound System can be made by following this link: stephenfoster.com/donate or by mailing a donation to
