Yonah Mountain Campground, Hiking Raven Cliffs Falls in Helen Georgia Oktoberfest
This is the first couple days of our 11 anniversary rv camping trip to Helen Georgia during Oktoberfest. We started it off hiking the Raven Cliffs Falls the first day. We stayed at Yonah Mountian Campground while there. We left after Alli got off work Thursday evening and drove to Cordele GA and stopped at a Pilot gas station. Spent our first night ever overnight at an actual truck stop We've done rest stops and Walmarts before, but never a gas station.
We got up around 7am and went in and got some breakfast and hit the road. Pulled in to Yonah Campground around 11am and set up camp.
Around 1ish we headed to the Raven Cliffs Falls trail.
We only hiked about half way in to the first major falls. Took some pics and decided to hike back as it was after 4pm at this point and we were getting hungry!
Drove back to the downtown of Helen and went to the Troll Tavern. Had some pretzels and cheese soup along with some good German beer!
Mellissa wanted to get back to the campground at Yonah as they were having S'mores at the community campfire starting at 7pm. We enjoyed a couple S'mores and the company of some really nice folks, Charlie and Cathy who's friend owned the campground. They were there volunteering they time to run the S'mores festivities!
It was an absolutely beautiful day and a great way to end it with some campfire sweets!
Here's a link to the Yonah Campground website!
It's only like 4 miles from downtown Helen in Cleveland Georgia! Highly recommend this campground!

RVing Helen and Ellijay Georgia-Cherokee Campground-Hiking Yonah Mountain
#helengeorgia #Ellijaygeorgia #Yonahmountain #hikingyonahmountain
This week we did some RVing to Cherokee RV Campground in Georgia near the town of Helen Georgia. We met up with my sister Lori her boyfriend Nick and their dog Jelly! They got there a couple days earlier and did a couple hikes that we had recommended like the Raven Cliffs Falls and Anna Ruby Falls, saving some new hikes for all of us. One of those hikes was in Ellijay called Tumbling Waters Trail. This was a nice 1 mile total out and back hike that wasn't difficult at all. Really nice little water rapids payoff near the end of it with a bridge overlooking the river.
The next day the temperatures dropped after the rains of Saturday quite a bit which made our hiking Yonah Mountain on Sunday much chillier, but we loved it! This was the MOST difficult hike I think we've done to date. 2 and a half miles pretty much uphill all the way. There were a couple places of rocks that I'd have to lift Nikki up over but she did awesome! For nearly 10 years old she hardly slowed down going up and coming back down she was pulling me most of the way! The views at the top of Yonah Mountain were breathtaking and well worth the couple hours it took us to reach the top! We definitely would recommend Yonah Mountain if you're up for some serious cardio work. But you can always take your time like we did or take it even slower. There were a couple nice stops along the way to rest and have some nice views. Even a bathroom about half way up the hike.
We also did some driving around checking out things like the Cabbage Patch Babyland Which looked like a cool place to visit. Along with the Nacoochee Indian Mound just outside Helen. Here's a link with details about it!
Lastly we stopped at Fred's Famous Peanuts for some fresh mountain apples! and maybe one caramel apple....:)

Yonah Mountain Campground Tour | 2017 | Georgia | USA
Yonah Mountain Campground is classified as an RV resort according to their website, but we had a great time with our tent! In this video we are taking a tour of the campground.
They have centrally located washrooms with lots of hot water - and they were never busy. The tenting sites are located beside a nice stream in an open field area (close to the swimming pool).
There were not too many people around during our stay which was nice. This location had a lot of things to offer including wifi in the club house. The wifi was actually very good! Within the club house they had a nice lounge area with free cable. Lots of chairs and tables to use, water fountain and children's play area. Easily the best equipped campground I have been too - we actually stayed an extra day we liked it so much!
Outside they had a great play area with basketballs nets and free basketballs to use. The pool was well maintained. They had a nice swing and fireplace area at the front of the property and games such as washer toss and shuffle board. During the summer they have lots of camp activities!
The camp store is great and the staff was awesome. I would go back in a heartbeat!

Camping on Yonah Mountain
A night camping on top of Mt. Yonah with friends. It's a short, but relatively steep 4.2 mile round trip hike just south of Helen, Georgia.
This is a well known mountain popular for day hikers and climbers.
Filmed on: DJI Mavic Air, GoPro HERO7 Black, and Canon G7X III (I do not recommend this camera as the autofocus is terrible).
Edited on Adobe Premier Pro.

Yonah Mountain
We hike the Yonah Mountain Trail in the fall through a rocky, wildflower-filled forest with incredible summit views, steep drop-offs, and a moderately challenging but scenic climb to the summit where we camp on the bald.
Yonah rises from the foothills of Georgia's southern Appalachian Mountains, jutting skyward from the rolling landscape between Cleveland and Helen. The mountain's asymmetrical, iconic shape and massive, exposed rock outcrops near the summit lend to its popularity with hikers and climbers. The mountain's distinct shape is also a classic view for hikers travelling the Unicoi Gap to Dicks' Creek Gap section of the Appalachian Trail.
➤ Takeaway
• I carried about 28 lbs on this trip which included gear for the kids and water for everyone as there were no reliable water sources on the mountain during this time. The MLD Prophet handled it like a champ, and I felt no pain despite being a frameless pack with a recommended load range of 18-22 lbs.
• There were no water sources anywhere on the mountain at this time. There was a small pipe near the summit with a trickle, but it did not appear to be something I'd filter unless it was an emergency.
• Bring a good headlamp so you can venture down to the cliffs at night for the sunset and to look at the city lights.
➤ Stats
• Duration: Overnight
• Total Miles: 4.4
• High Temp: 82°
• Low Temp: 48°
• Peak Elevation: Yonah Mountain @ 3,166 ft.
• Total Elevation Gain/Loss: ~1500ft
➤ Videography
All video footage was captured using an iPhone 6S+. All editing was done using Adobe Premiere Pro.

Mount Yonah, Georgia
Note:
This video is raw with not editing and audio may not be great neither. This video is intended for you to have an idea of the place and area, and for you to decide or not to make plans to explore it yourself or get in touch with me to put a group together and all of us have fun.
Mount Yonah
This is one of my favorite hike in north Georgia, simply because of the view at the top. It rained (a bit) over the weekend when I went., so that probably increased the difficulty. It is very rocky and about half way up becomes very steep and more difficult to navigate. The trail is pretty clearly marked and easy to follow.
No fee is required.
The mountain’s asymmetrical shape and exposed rock ring near the summit make it a recognizable and iconic landmark in northern Georgia.
It’s a popular destination for climbers, but equally popular with hikers: though a difficult hike, with a continuous, unrelenting upward climb over the entire trek to the summit, the views are simply stunning. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Directions:
From downtown Cleveland, Georgia, go north 0.3 mile on Highway 129. Turn right onto Georgia Highway 74 and go 2.2 miles. Turn right on Tom Bell Road and go 0.9 mile and take the 2nd right turn onto Chambers Road. Go 0.7 mile and turn right on Forest Service Road 323. Go 0.3 mile to the trailhead parking lot.

Helen Georgia, The Camper Couple RV life. Episode 96
One of the first places we had to visit in Georgia was the town of Helen GA. A town modeled to look like an Alpine Village in the mountains of Georgia. Amazing shops, restaurants and the Chattahoochee river runs right through it. A great place to visit any time of year

About us
We fell in love with each other at an RV show and as a result we fell in love with campers too. For years we have been going to RV shows and picking out our favorites and dreaming of the day we would be able to have one of our own. Then in the summer of 2017 after a series of major mishaps (Our car being totaled, pay cuts and layoffs and a trip to the ER) we purchased our first camper, a Jayco Qwest for less than 5000. Then we began the process of downsizing.

Unicoi State Park, Helen, Georgia
A very Beautiful State Park, five minutes from (Little German Town) Helen, Georgia.Unicoi is one of Georgia's most beloved state parks. Enjoy miles and miles of biking and hiking on scenic mountain trails, especially those leading to Helen and Anna Ruby Falls. Beautiful lake with beach and lots of unique cabin rentals. The bridge in the video with my wife and Black Lab posing on is the (Kissing Bridge) it is where Burt Reynolds kissed Sally Fields in the movie Smokey and the Bandit. The Park was large and clean and the Staff was very friendly and helpful. This Park will definitely be one of our go to places again.
