The 9th arrondissement (IXe arrondissement), located on the Right Bank, is one of the 20 arrondissements of Paris, France. It contains many places of cultural, historical and architectural interest, including the Palais Garnier, home to the Paris Opera, Boulevard Haussmann and its large department stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps.
Further North, you'll find the Moulin Rouge, Pigalle and more! People used to be a bit worried about the safety of this district but now it's seen as a very hipster, up and coming neighbourhood.

【Boulevard Haussmann】
Boulevard Haussmann, 2.53 kilometres (1.57 mi) long from the 8th to the 9th arrondissement, is one of the wide tree-lined boulevards created in Paris by Napoleon III, under the direction of his Prefect of the Seine, Baron Haussmann.
The Boulevard Haussmann is mostly lined with apartment blocks, whose regulated cornice height gives a pleasing eyeline to the Boulevard. The department stores Galeries Lafayette and Au Printemps are sited on this street.
From 1906 to 1919, the novelist Marcel Proust (1871–1922) lived at No. 102. There, in his cork-lined bedroom (now on display in the Carnavalet Museum), he wrote the major part of À la recherche du temps perdu. Alan Bates starred in 102 Boulevard Haussmann, a 1990 play written by Alan Bennett.
At 158 there is the Musée Jacquemart-André.
The Impressionist and patron of other artists Gustave Caillebotte (1848–1894) painted the Boulevard in many different lights as the days and seasons changed.
Marks & Spencer, the British department store chain, opened a store on Boulevard Haussmann in 1975 when it opened its first store in continental Europe.
In the Ian Fleming novel Thunderball, it is described as the solidest street in Paris and the site of the headquarters of SPECTRE.

Paris - le 9ème arrondissement
Musée de La Vie Romantique -- Paris, 9th Arrondissement
copyright 2011 Lisa B. Falour, B.S., M.B.A. all rights reserved LISA, INC. (EURL) cutecatfaith.com
La Ville de Paris runs many museums, and you should try to visit some, because admission is free (except for special events and temporary shows, but the permanent collections you don't have to pay to look at). The Carnavelet Museum in Le Marais is a must-see -- forget about Le Louvre! See this for free, and it's in a wonderful area! Le Musée de La Vie Romantique is small but in a famous area of Paris and is well worth the visit. Just check the Internet for the exact street address and hours.
This museum is in a charming compound of a mansion and its dependances, and there is a tea garden. Works by Scheffer are featured here, and there are things by and about George Sand, Chopin, Renan and others. This is not far from Le Moulin Rouge and Place Pigalle, and it's a really interesting neighborhood to visit. There are also many music stores here, sex shops, b-girl bars, incredible architecture, Villa Frochot (which is private but you can peek in), Montmarte is nearby, Place de Clichy is nearby -- lots of things.
Even if you don't care much for the Romantic period, this place is not huge and it doesn't take long to visit. I would have liked to have tea here but my frugal spouse hates tea (though the French invented it as a drink and a custom -- borrowed by the British much later!). We walked around here and went over to Square de Batignolles in the 17th, so it was fun. Since he's so stingy, I remember to take a bottle of water and a piece of fruit. Looking at museums makes me very light-headed.
A métro station nearby is PIGALLE but you could also use BLANCHE. Not too far from here is the métro ABBESSES, where you can take a funicular railroad to the top of Montmartre for the price of a métro ticket. I have videos up about this.
Consider a private guide for a few days here in Paris, or you will miss a lot. I can do it or find you one, or provide you with a personalized itinerary according to your tastes. I am easy to reach on my website, cutecatfaith.com.
