Hong Kong pro-democracy and pro-Beijing protesters clash at mall | DW News
A pro-democracy protest in Hong Kong was disrupted by pro-Beijing counter-demonstrators waving Chinese flags. The sit-in at a shopping mall in the semi-autonomous Chinese territory became the scene of violent clashes when pro-Beijing activists confronted the demonstrators. Police were said to have arrested some activists from the pro-democracy camp but to have left pro-Beijing protesters alone. Hong Kong is in its fourth month of pro-democracy demonstrations, which were initially launched to oppose a controversial extradition bill, but have since widened to demand free elections.

ULTRA HD 4K HONG KONG WALKING TOUR - CENTRAL | 中環 | ADMIRALTY | 金鐘
#central #hongkong #centralhongkong #cbd #richcity
Welcome to our Hong Kong Walking Tour in Central and Admiralty. Our video is shot in Ultra Hd 4K, crystal clear quality, it’s as though you are actually here.
We begin the walk in Queens road central, and walk towards the direction of HSBC bank, Cheung Kong building, Citibank plaza, then onto Admiralty towards Pacific Place, Lippo Centre, Admiralty centre.
‘Central (also Central District; Chinese: 中環) is the central business district of Hong Kong. It is located in Central and Western District, on the north shore of Hong Kong Island, across Victoria Harbour from Tsim Sha Tsui, the southernmost point of Kowloon Peninsula. The area was the heart of Victoria City, although that name is rarely used today. As the central business district of Hong Kong, it is the area where many multinational financial services corporations have their headquarters. Consulates general and consulates of many countries are also located in this area, as is Government Hill, the site of the government headquarters. The area, with its proximity to Victoria Harbour, has served as the centre of trade and financial activities from the earliest days of the British colonial era in 1841, and continues to flourish and serve as the place of administration after the transfer of sovereignty to China in 1997.’
'Admiralty is the eastern extension of the central business district (adjacent to, but separate from, Central) on the Hong Kong Island of Hong Kong. It is located on the eastern end of the Central and Western District, bordered by Wan Chai to the east and Victoria Harbour to the north.
The name of Admiralty refers to the former Admiralty Dock in the area which housed a naval dockyard. The dock was later demolished when land was reclaimed and developed northward as the naval base HMS Tamar. The Chinese name, Kam Chung (金鐘), lit. Golden Bell, refers to a gold-coloured bell that was used for timekeeping at Wellington Barracks.[1]
uildings in Admiralty consist primarily of office buildings, government buildings, shopping malls and hotels. There are also several parks in the area: Hong Kong Park, Tamar Park and Harcourt Garden.
The main development of the area in recent years has been the development of the Tamar site into the Central Government Complex, which started operating in 2011. Facing Victoria Harbour, the complex houses the Office of the Chief Executive, the Legislative Council Complex and the Central Government Offices.
As one of the main financial areas in Hong Kong, there are plenty of Grade-A commercial buildings in Admiralty[3] including:
Admiralty Centre
Bank of America Tower
British Consulate General Hong Kong
Chinese People's Liberation Army Forces Hong Kong Building
CITIC Tower
Far East Financial Centre
High Court Building
Lippo Centre, which houses the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office
Pacific Place, a complex featuring a shopping mall, several hotels and office towers, that opened in Admiralty in phases between 1988 and 1991. The complex is connected to the MTR Admiralty Station via an underground walkway. A later phase, Three Pacific Place, is located in Wan Chai
Queensway Government Offices
Queensway Plaza, a shopping centre located above Admiralty Station
United Centre'

Police arrested protesters at the Amoy Plaza mall in Hong Kong, as pro and anti-Beijing protesters faced off on Saturday.
Footage shows police arresting demonstrations as Beijing sympathisers waving Chinese flags hold an impromptu protest inside the mall and arguments break out with anti-Beijing protesters. Police dispersed the demonstration after making several arrests.
Hundreds of thousands have taken part in protests against an extradition bill with mainland China since the end of March and despite the bill being withdrawn, protesters continue to hit the streets waiting for other demands to be met. Among them is investigation of alleged police brutality during demonstrations, freedom to those arrested as well as other demands.

WHAMPOA WALKING TOUR | THE WHAMPOA SHIP MALL | 黄埔 | HONG KONG (ULTRA HD 4K)
#whampoa #thewhampoa #hongkong
Welcome to the Hong Kong Walking Tour in Whampoa 黃埔花園, where you will see the famous boat, which is actually a shopping mall called The Whampoa. Our video is shot in Ultra HD 4K, crystal clear quality, as if you are actually here.
'Whampoa Garden (Chinese: 黃埔花園; Jyutping: wong4 bou3 faa1 jyun4) is the largest private housing estate in Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was built on the site of the former Whampoa Dockyards by Hutchison Whampoa Property. The urban design of the estate incorporates concepts inspired by the Garden city movement[1] and was completed in 1991.
The estate covers 19 hectares and consists of 12 complexes. Ten are residential/commercial mixed use, with a total of 88 16-storey residential high-rise towers. The other two are solely commercial use.[2] There was a height restriction on the buildings due to its proximity to the Kai Tak Airport at the time. It includes eight shopping arcades, three supermarkets, a cinema,[3][4] hundreds of restaurants and shops, a karaoke, five primary schools, mini-parks and two public transport interchange.[5]
There are 10,431 flats,[2] ranging from 351 to 1,110 square feet (32.6 to 103.1 m2), in the 88 residential towers.
Notable commercial outlets include the first ParknShop Hong Kong Superstore, which was opened in 1996 in Whampoa Garden[6] Phase 12 with a floor space of 4,200 square metres (45,000 sq ft); as of 2011, there are over 50 superstores in Hong Kong. Also, The Whampoa is a 110 metres (360 ft)-long boat-shaped shopping centre[7] built in the original No. 1 Dry Dock,[1] in Phase 6. During the 1980s and 1990s, the structure housed a playground on the top and deck level, seafood restaurants, a cinema on other floors above ground levels; the department store Yaohan on ground and basement level, and an indoor family theme park (開心一號) with an arcade game centre and a roller skating rink on lower basement level. In late 1990s, the department store was taken over by JUSCO department store.[8] The JUSCO department store was renamed to AEON in 2013, to be consistent with the name change adopted by its parent company in Japan. In May 2016, the department store was renovated and renamed as AEON STYLE after its reopening in September the same year.
There is also a promenade along sea side, from Laguna Verde to Hung Hom Ferry Pier. It is also linked to the Avenue of Stars. One can walk from Hunghom Pier to Tsim Sha Tsui Pier in about 40 minutes.'

Hong Kong Police Break Up Scuffles Between Pro- Beijing, Anti-Government Protesters
Footage from VOA’s Mandarin Service shows pro-China protesters and anti-government groups scuffling at a shopping mall in Hong Kong on Saturday, September 14.
????Baton-wielding Hong Kong police moved in to break up scuffles Saturday between pro-China protesters and those denouncing perceived Chinese meddling at the start of rallies planned for across the city after months of often violent unrest.
The pro-China demonstrators chanted “Support the police” and “China, add oil” at a shopping mall in the Kowloon Bay area, adapting a line used by anti-Hong Kong government protesters and loosely meaning: “China, keep your strength up.”
“Hong Kong is China,” one woman shouted at passers-by who shouted obscenities in return in an angry pushing and pulling standoff, marked more by the shouting than violence.

Heaps of flowers and origami cranes to mourn the “Raincoat Man” are piled up along the pavement outside a Hong Kong shopping centre where the man fell to his death while staging an apparent protest against a contentious extradition bill proposed by the government.
Most of the tributes were left by demonstrators taking part in a march on June 16, 2019, when nearly 2 million people took to the streets, according to organisers.
The previous day, the man was seen climbing to the rooftop of the Pacific Place mall in Admiralty at around 4.30pm. He reportedly unfurled a banner that read: “Help Hong Kong. Make love, no shoot. No extradition to China.”
After a nearly five-hour stand-off with authorities, the man fell and was rushed to hospital, but died from his injuries.
