CITY2CITY | Chicago | Carli Lloyd meets a City superfan in the US
Haas Park was, until recently, in need of serious re-development. So when Manchester City and the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates helped restore it in 2012 the community came together to maintain it and, most importantly, use it. Participation rose steeply and one of its earliest participants was Emily Rivas. Now, with aspirations of turning professional herself, Emily reflects on the impact Haas Park has had on both her footballing and personal development.

Hometown Teams & A.C. Devotion and Determination sports exhibits grand opening
Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian read a proclamation at the March 22, 2014, opening for the Smithsonian Institution's Hometown Teams sports exhibit and The Atlantic City Experience: Devotion and Determination sports exhibit, which was developed by library staff.
The library is one of six organizations in New Jersey selected to host Hometown Teams -- a traveling exhibition that celebrates American sports and sportsmanship. Atlantic City will be the second stop on the Hometown Teams' 2014 road trip.
The exhibit will be displayed at the Noyes Art Garage Stockton College, located at the Wave parking garage at 2200 Fairmount Ave., from March 22 to May 4. Visitors will be able to view the exhibit from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday during that time.
The library held a ribbon-cutting pep rally March 22 at the Art Garage to kick off the exhibit's visit to Atlantic City.
As a companion to Hometown Teams, the Atlantic City Free Public Library will present a new exhibit, The Atlantic City Experience: Devotion and Determination. This sports-based exhibit, which will also be located at the Art Garage, will showcase some of the people and places that are a part of the fabric of the city's rich sports history.
Hometown Teams has been made possible in Atlantic City by the New Jersey Council for the Humanities. Hometown Teams is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institute and State Humanities Councils nationwide. Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress.

Places to see in ( Wilmington - USA )
Wilmington is a port city in North Carolina. It’s known as a gateway to Cape Fear Coast beaches like Wrightsville, with its strong surf, and Carolina, with its long boardwalk. Part of downtown’s Historic District, the Riverwalk is lined with restaurants, galleries and shops. It runs along the Cape Fear River, where the Battleship North Carolina is moored. Artifacts on the ship explore WWII naval combat history.
Wilmington was settled by the English along the Cape Fear River. The city was named after Spencer Compton who was the Earl of Wilmington. Its historic downtown has a 1.75-mile (2.82 km) Riverwalk, developed as a tourist attraction in the late 20th century. In 2014 Wilmington's riverfront was ranked as the Best American Riverfront by readers of USA Today. It is minutes away from nearby beaches. The National Trust for Historic Preservation selected Wilmington as one of its 2008 Dozen Distinctive Destinations. City residents live between the river and the ocean, with four nearby beach communities: Fort Fisher, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, all within half-hour drives from downtown Wilmington.
Wilmington is the home of EUE Screen Gems Studios, the largest domestic television and movie production facility outside California. Dream Stage 10, the facility's newest sound stage, is the third-largest in the US. It houses the largest special-effects water tank in North America. After the studio's opening in 1984, Wilmington became a major center of American film and television production. Numerous movies in a range of genres and several television series have been produced here, including Maximum Overdrive, Iron Man 3, Fox's Sleepy Hollow, One Tree Hill, Dawson's Creek and NBC's Revolution.

Bordentown is a city in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the city's population was 3,924.[9][10][10] The population declined by 45 (-1.1%) from the 3,969 counted in the 2000 U.S. Census, which had in turn declined by 372 (-8.6%) from the 4,341 counted in the 1990 Census.[20]
Bordentown is located at the confluence of the Delaware River, Blacks Creek and Crosswicks Creek. The latter is the border between Burlington and Mercer Counties. Bordentown is 5.8 miles (9.3 km) southeast from Trenton and 25.3 miles (40.7 km) northeast of Philadelphia.
Bordentown was originally incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on December 9, 1825, from portions within Chesterfield Township. It was reincorporated as a city on April 3, 1867, and separated from Chesterfield Township c. 1877.
History[edit]
Thomas Farnsworth, an English Quaker, was credited with being the first European settler in the Bordentown area in 1682, when he moved his family up river from Burlington. He made a new home on the windswept bluff overlooking the broad bend in the Delaware River. The Farnsworth's cabin was situated near the northwest corner of Park Street and Prince Street, perhaps where an 1883 frame house now stands. Farnsworth Landing soon became the center of trade for the region.[22] Farnsworth is also the namesake of one of Bordentown's main street, Farnsworth Avenue.
Joseph Borden, for whom the city is named,[23][24] arrived in 1717, and by May 1740 founded a transportation system to carry people and freight between New York City and Philadelphia. This exploited Bordentown's natural location as the point on the Delaware River that provided the shortest overland route to Perth Amboy, from which cargo and people could be ferried to New York City.[25]
By 1776, Bordentown was full of patriots. Patience Lovell Wright, America's first female sculptor, was creating wax busts in King George's court in England. Later, however, Bordentown became a rabble-rousing hotbed. In addition to Joseph Borden's son (also named Joseph Borden), who became a colonel during the war, patriots Francis Hopkinson (a signer of the United States Declaration of Independence), Colonel Kirkbride, Colonel Oakey Hoagland and Thomas Paine resided in the area. Due to their well-published activity in Bordentown, the British retaliated. Hessians occupied the town in 1776, and the British pillaged and razed the town during May and June 1778.[26]
Other notable people who have lived in the city include Clara Barton, who in 1852 started the first free public school in New Jersey and later founded the American Red Cross.[27] A recreation of her schoolhouse stands at the corner of Crosswicks and Burlington streets.[28]
The Bordentown School operated from 1894 to 1955.

LT 097 | Dan Garbutt - Technique vs. Style in Rowing
LT 097 | Dan Garbutt - Technique vs. Style in Rowing Subscribe & Review on : Apple Podcasts | Stitcher This week's podcast guest is my friend and Women's Head Rowing Coach of Old Dominion University, Dan Garbutt. Dan and I are both South Jersey natives so it was a ton of fun for me to sit down and reconnect with him.
Dan Garbutt is a 2001 graduate of Princeton University. He began his collegiate career in 1998, winning the Freshman Award and being named a member of the United States National Team, while the Tigers captured the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship. He went on to earn three varsity letters in men's heavyweight crew as Princeton won three Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges (EARC) Championships (1998, 1999, 2001). As a senior in 2001 he received All-Ivy League and All-American honors.
Dan has been the Head Coach of Old Dominion Rowing for the past six years and has led the program to new heights and success. Some of his accomplishments include:
In the 2015-16 season, his sixth year at the helm, Garbutt guided the Lady Monarchs to a sixth-place finish at the Big 12 Championship in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The sixth-place finish was a two-spot improvement on the 2015 conference finish. The 2015-16 season also saw the 1V8 earn Big 12 Boat of the Week honors in late March after a dominant performance at the UNC Invite, which marked the first time an ODU boat earned that accolade. In his fifth year as head coach and is in his first season in the Big 12 Conference, the team saw a lot of success, as the Monarchs recorded 19 top-20 finishes, including 13 in the top-5. ODU also started a new tradition by dedicating the Varsity 8 and the Second Varsity 8 boats to President John Broderick and First Lady Kate Broderick. In the 2012-2013 season, the Lady Monarchs received their first ever votes in the CRCA/US Rowing Coaches Top 20 Poll. Starting Point: 9th Street - .
Cleveland is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio. Cleveland's economy has diversified sectors that include manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, and biomedical. Cleveland is also home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
As of the 2013 Census Estimate, the city proper had a total population of 390,113, making Cleveland the 48th largest city in the United States,[5] and the second largest city in Ohio after Columbus.[8][9] Greater Cleveland, the Cleveland-Elyria-Mentor, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area, ranked 29th largest in the United States, and second largest in Ohio after Cincinnati with 2,064,725 people in 2013.[10] Cleveland is part of the larger Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Combined Statistical Area, which in 2013 had a population of 3,501,538, and ranked as the country's 15th largest CSA.[10] Residents of Cleveland are called Clevelanders. Cleveland has many nicknames, the oldest of which in contemporary use being The Forest City.
Sports
Cleveland's major professional sports teams include the Cleveland Indians (Major League Baseball), Cleveland Browns (National Football League), and Cleveland Cavaliers (National Basketball Association). Local sporting facilities include Progressive Field, FirstEnergy Stadium, Quicken Loans Arena and the Wolstein Center.
The Cleveland Indians won the World Series in 1920 and 1948. They also won the American League pennant, making the World Series in the 1954, 1995, and 1997 seasons. Between 1995 and 2001, Progressive Field (then known as Jacobs Field) sold out 455 consecutive games, a Major League Baseball record until it was broken in 2008.[131]
The Cavaliers won the Eastern Conference in 2007 and 2015, but were defeated in the NBA Finals by the San Antonio Spurs and then by the Golden State Warriors, respectively. The Cavs won the Conference again in 2016 and won their first NBA Championship, finally defeating the Golden State Warriors. Afterwards, an estimated 1.3 million people attended a parade held in the Cavs honor.
Historically, the Browns have been among the winningest franchises in American football history winning eight titles during a short period of time—1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1954, 1955, and 1964. The Browns have never played in a Super Bowl. Former owner Art Modell's relocation of the Browns after the 1995 season (to Baltimore creating the Ravens), caused tremendous heartbreak and resentment among local fans.[132] Cleveland mayor, Michael R. White, worked with the NFL and Commissioner Paul Tagliabue to bring back the Browns beginning in 1999 season, retaining all team history.
