If you want to go to Versailles, I really think you should do a bike tour as you'll see so much more of Versailles than you would on foot. Versailles spans over 2,000 acres and is a full enough day without walking between locations on the grounds. A bike tour of Versailles is a great way to get around quickly and see as much of the sites as possible with a guide who knows how to get around. As disclosed in the video, I used to work for Bike About Tours and do get a referral (but only if you let them know when you book/get a sticker from them in Paris).
My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa and hoping to make the city of light my home base - at least for the foreseeable future. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlog daily, and love pizza a little too much.
FAQ:
How long have you lived in France? On and off for over two years.
What do you miss most about ho- NACHOS
You're always talking about living on some ship. WHAT SHIP? - I made a Draw My Life video that explains a lot here:
Where are you from originally? - Pullman, Washington - a small university/agricultural town near Idaho (and yes, the potatoes are amazing).
What do you film with? - I currently film almost exclusively with my Samsung Galaxy S8:
How do you get those shots where you're walking or running? - A Joby Gorillapod for smartphones, like this:
You drop your phone a lot, how does it survive? - THIS CASE IS AMAZING: (Galaxy S7) - (Galaxy S8) - (iPhone)
What do you edit with? - Adobe Premiere - it's pretty much all I've ever used since high school.
Aren't you ever freaked out by leaving your camera behind to film yourself? - Yep. But not too badly - I tend to be careful when I do.
Why are you living in #Paris? - Because I've always wanted to; I feel at home here:
A Versailles bike tour is a great way to go (totally put this here for SEO).
But what are you doing there? - Living it up!
Do you speak French? Oui.
You talk a lot about the books you're working on, what are they about? - They're sci-fi (and fantasy) and I've got a decent pitch for you here:
Do you make money off YouTube? - Ha, no. I wish. It took me over 500 videos to make my first $100 off adsense. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - The easiest and best way to support me is through Patreon, where you can pitch in as little as $1/mo to help me make better videos:
I don't trust this Patreon thing - what's your PayPal? - Here's a handy link!
I like PayPal in pink! - Here's my ko-fi if that's your thing (and coffee is your game):
But I want to send you something tangible! - I do have a wishlist on Amazon, though it's a bit complicated with the international shipping situation. This is the US one:
And here's the French one:
Can I come stay with you in Paris? - Have you seen my apartment? It's too small for me as it is!
OK, but how do I use the Metro when I'm there? - I made a handy video for you:

Champagne Tour: Paris – Epernay | Boat Bike Tours
Performed again in 2017, the eight day, seven night Champagne, Marne River Valley & Paris tour on board the barge MS Zwaantje is a cycle touring classic that not only allows guests to explore the world famous city of Paris, but also the Champagne region, famous of course, for producing Champagne wine. From the time the Benedictine monk Dom Pierre Pérignon invented the bubbly drink in 1670 at the Abbey of d’Hautvillers, the Champagne name has been synonymous worldwide with the very best of sparkling wines. On a daily basis from your base on board your floating hotel for the duration for the tour, the barge MS Zwaantje, you will have the opportunity to cycle to boutique wineries, sample a variety of champagnes, taste delicious Brie cheese and generally discover everything the Champagne UNESCO world heritage region, which is centred on the towns of Epernay and Reims, has to offer. But more than just visiting the Champagne region, you will also have the opportunity to explore Paris, one of Europe’s most beautiful and beloved cities on a full day guided excursion. Other highlights of the tour include a visit to the city of Meaux, well known for its Brie cheeses and a stopover in Château-Thierry, the scene of major battles in World War I. Along the way you will cycle through almost endless vineyards on the rolling banks of the Marne River. The tour ends in the city of Epernay, the real capital of the Champagne region where you will have the opportunity to visit one of the town’s massive champagne cellars.

Paris, France Video Tour
A Video Tour of Paris, France. Paris France Points of Interest & Paris France Attractions. Many guests choose to enjoy a tour of Paris before or after their cruise. Paris, the ‘City of Lights', is one of the world's truly great cities. The River Seine, lifeblood of the city, splits it neatly in two, flowing past the Ile de la Cité and the famous cathedral of Notre Dame. The history and culture of Paris can also be discovered throughout its distinctive districts. The village atmosphere of hilly Montmartre with its elegant landmark the Sacre Coeur; the Marais district and its winding streets that evoke medieval Paris; and the grand 19th century boulevards that dominate so much of the city.
Paris, France
Paris has so much to offer with its huge variety of heritage, architecture and culture, from the grace of the Louvre Museum, to the ultra-modern Opera de la Bastille; from the wondrous Eiffel Tower, to the Champs-Elysées headed by the Arc de Triomphe. All this, together with wonderful restaurants and some of the best shopping in the world make Paris an unmissable place to visit.
The stylish 12 passenger Panache & the deluxe 8 passenger La Nouvelle Etoile either begin or end many of their cruises in the heart of Paris throughout the year. Whether entering Paris from the north from Picardy, the east from Champagne or south from Burgundy, passing the infamous Eiffel Tower and the magnificent Notre Dame is always one of the great highlights of the cruise.
Many people choose to visit Paris before or after their cruise, a visit in contrast to the peace and relaxation of the cruise itself. This is why the crew of all of our barges which cruise in Burgundy, including our deluxe flag ship La Renaissance, pick you up and drop you off in the heart of Paris, a transfer by air conditioned mini bus included in the price of the cruise.
What is hotel barging?
Despite the growing popularity of cruising, especiallly on large river vessels, hotel barging is still a little known niche concept. Most hotel barges started life as cargo vessels but have since been painstakingly converted to offer luxury boutique accommodation for small groups of up to 20 passengers.
This is cruising, but in a very different style to ships plying the big rivers or oceans. The pace is slow, with a 6 day cruise covering maybe just 50 miles along a rural canal. Passengers can walk or bike the towpaths as their floating hotel glides gently along. Guests enjoy an intimate atmosphere, high levels of personal service and immersion into the culture, history and gastronomy of regions of Europe such as Burgundy, the Midi, or the Italian Veneto.
Every day there is an excursion, perhaps to a chateau, a vineyard for a wine tasting, or some other ‘off the beaten track’ location. About half of European Waterways’ bookings are for whole boat charters, ideal for families. Otherwise, clients book a cabin to join other like-minded people. A ‘slow boat’ European Waterways barge cruise offers the ultimate in experiential travel. A truly unique experience!
European Waterways offer luxury hotel barge cruises on the beautiful canals and rivers of Europe, such as through Burgundy, the Midi, Alsace, the Po Valley, Holland and the Scottish Highlands.
The exclusive collection of hotel barges accommodate up to 20 passengers who may charter a whole barge with family or friends, or join a small group of like-minded travellers on an individual cabin basis.
Each barge is fully crewed with a Captain, chef, hostesses, deck-hand and tour guide. The 6-night cruises include gourmet meals, fine wines, open bar, excursions and the use of facilities such as bicycles and spa pools.
Paris - Versailles by Bike Day Tour
Due enormity of Versailles it's difficult to see it all, but you can take in more with a bike day tour of the gardens from Paris.
Enjoy a scenic bike tour through the Gardens of Versailles and see what most visitors miss on foot, including Marie Antoinette's country-style Hameau, the Petit Trianon and the Grand Trianon.

Emmaus Boutique is what I went to first. Kind of similar to a Goodwill Charity shop. So yes, thrift stores do exist in France!
Interesting Experience but just too much craziness going on to film. And too many groups of young dudes looking at me. I know I'm lovely but still.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS & FEEDBACK
Included on this DVD are the world famous historical landmarks in Paris such as the Eiffel Tower, Centre Pompidou, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, and The Louvre Museum. All professional videography in full HD color with sounds from the actual locations that were filmed to give a more realistic walk of the city. One of the three walks focuses on the lovely city parks of Paris and is almost 45 minutes long. Truly a lovely video to cycle, jog or workout too. I also enjoy just watching this video to relax. It is lovely and loops for an uninterrupted workout.
Pamela Moorman
I really like the DVD. It is a great thing to be able to exercise in Paris on you exercise bike. You drive past the Seine or the Eiffel Tower, sometimes also through a park and then back through the busy city, so exercising is great fun. The images are very clear and the natural sounds which surround you, give you the feeling of actually being in Paris. This DVD gives you a great variety of exercising at home and at the same time seeing something of the world.
Rita, Germany
I liked it very much. I have never been to Paris before, so it was kinda like a vacation for me. It is well done. The resolution and photography is outstanding. I
really don't know how this was done with such a stable picture with no vibrations. I like the pace of a real bike and not done with a motorcycle. I would like to see the rig you did with the bike and mount, camera, and anti vibration and self leveling device in order to produce such an outstanding product.
Jim OD
Two brisk rides and one at a more leisurely pace with over an hour of colorful HD footage of the Netherlands and its charming windmills. Professionally filmed in high quality HD in full color. Actual soundtrack produced on location to give the feeling of being on an actual cycle ride. The only thing missing is the breeze blowing through your hair. This is a very nice DVD and like all the others I have purchased from World Nature Videos it is a high quality product. I really enjoy these virtual walk and virtual cycle ride DVDs with my exercise routine on my stationary bike, on my Gazelle or on a treadmill at the gym. Many such as this one are great for just relaxing, too

HERMES Boutique New Opening in Via Montenapoleone Milan by Fashion Channel
HERMES Boutique New Opening in Via Montenapoleone Milan by Fashion Channel
On October 14, was inaugurated in Milan, the new boutique of the French fashion house Hermès.
A corner of Paris in Milano as if unique atmosphere of the store at 24 faubourg Saint_Honoré in Paris had been magically duplicated in the heart of Quadrilatero, Milano's fashion district. It could not be anywhere else: via Montenapoleone 12 is the address chosen by french house for its new Milanese seat. It's a beautiful Neoclassic building which will give the store twice the space of its former via Sant'Andrea location, a total of 600 square metros including 488 square metros of sales area over two floors.
RDAI (Rena Dumas Architecture Intérieure) under the artistic direction of Denis Montel, is in charge of the creation and renovation of the spaces, as for all Hermès stores worldwide. It's as if the house's values have been transposed into architectural concepts: the respect for tradition and the contemporary taste for innovation, the simplicity and the obsessive eye for detail, the regard for craftsmanship and rigor in the choice of precious and exclusive materials.
In exhibition also a bicycle, in double versions, designed by the Maison, created to be unisex, sporty and for city. Two ultralight models, Le Flâneur d'Hermès and Le Flâneur Sportif d'Hermès, that integrate stylish and dynamic design, complete with seat in leather.

Tour de France 2015
Tissot, Official Timekeeper of the Tour de France once again
Tissot, a member of the Swatch Group, has distinguished itself once again in the world of cycling by becoming Official Timekeeper of the Tour de France and all cycling time trials run by Amaury Sport Organisation. The Swiss brand will provide its innovative timekeeping systems at all A.S.O. time trials for the next five years.
Cycling is one of the sports that Tissot has been most involved in, as it has been associated with various cycling events for the past 50 years. The brand had already been Official Timekeeper of the Tour de France from 1988 to 1992. Proud of its Swiss roots, Tissot got further involved in 1995 by joining forces with the UCI International Cycling Union. Since then, Tissot has been the official Timekeeper of road, trail, mountain-bike and BMX cycling world championships, world cup cycling time trials and the Mountain Bike World Championship.
With the 2016 cycling season fast approaching, Tissot has joined forces with A.S.O. in running time trials all over the world. The Swiss watchmaker will lend its expertise at a large number of major time trials on the calendar, from Paris-Nice to Paris-Tours, including La Flèche Wallonne, the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España. In a sport were every second counts, relying on an extremely high-quality timekeeper is essential. Tissot shares the same values as A.S.O. in this regard, i.e. the same vision of cycling and the same values in terms of standards, precision and performance. This sponsorship means Tissot can draw in a large number of cycling enthusiasts committed to endurance and performance.
François Thiébaud, Chairman and CEO of Tissot watches is proud that the watch-making brand is once again official timekeeper of Tour de France: “Out of all the international cycling competitions, the Tour de France is the most highly regarded and admired of them all because it brings together the best cyclists in the world to compete in various flat, rugged and mountainous stages and even a stage against the clock, be it a solo or team effort.”
Christian Prudhomme, director of the Tour de France: “Cycling time trials come down to a few seconds, sometimes even a few milliseconds at certain finish lines. It’s essential to be able to trust a timekeeper that shares the same vision of our sport as A.S.O; by putting the cyclists’ efforts first and giving them the credit they deserve in the eyes of the public. For the next five years, we will be able to count on Tissot so that every second of effort counts and I am delighted to see this major watchmaker get involved in the season’s best cycling events.”
Swiss heritage is at the heart of Tissot and is what gives the brand its reputation. The cross on the Swiss flag, proudly stamped on its logo, symbolises the watchmaker’s time-tested quality and reliability since 1853. Now selling its watches in over 160 countries worldwide, Tissot would like to above all maintain its identity and stay true to Locle town, in the Swiss Jura mountains. With their special materials, advanced features and well thought-out design, Tissot watches make excellence accessible and are distinguished by their elegance, high level of precision and expertise. The brand is official timekeeper and partner to the NBA, CBA, FIBA, MotoGP™, FIM World Superbike, FIBA, AFL, the RBS 6 Nations Tournament and the cycling, fencing and ice-hockey world championships. As a member of the Swatch Group, the largest manufacturer and worldwide distributor of Swiss watches, Tissot are cutting-edge creators and demonstrate this through their hallmark “Innovators by tradition”.

They operate in five sporting industries with notable involvement in the Tour de France in cycling, the Dakar Rally in car-racing, the Open de France in golf, the Tour de France à la Voile in sailing and the publicly open Paris Schneider Electric Marathon.

Americans in France; Bike Tour through Marseille
Thanks for watching & Subscribing! This journey takes me back to 2017 where you could find me in Marseille, France. I spent the day exploring old port marseille by bike. Biking all the way to the top of Norte-Dame de la Garde. You’ll see a glimpse of the Marseille Cathedral, the La Corniche which is a monument of Marseille, and the mirrored canopy called the Port Vieux Pavilion. Stopped at many local shops to try different home made french goods and food. LOTS OF GOOD FOOD. Great coastal views and very easier to get around in on bike. We had electric bikes, which made everything so easier and fun. Our tour guide spoke English, but the majority of the people in the city have minimal English speaking skills. However, i did take two semesters of french in college which is very helpful at reading french signs and such. Enjoy!
French bicycle tour Part 9
This is the raw footage of the 700-mile Voie de la liberté (Liberty Trail) bicycle tour through France in 1989, which followed the path Gen. Patton took during the liberation of France during WWII. It started on the coast in Cherbourg, then went across the French countryside, up through Luxembourg, then ended at Bastogne, Belgium. I myself rode in this and finished it. When you watch this video, you will feel like you are right there with them, cycling along with them. For those who know the language, there is plenty of French to translate. The riders consisted of Americans, French, Canadians, Belgians and others. (If you see a group of old men riding together, those are the French. Their elderly are pretty healthy!) This was a very tiring trip - we rode 130 miles or more per day, riding from sunup to sunset, for a whole week. We were pretty darn sore! But the French countryside was beautiful. It's so green and flat!
A Video Tour of Paris including Norte-Dame Cathedral
Paris, the ‘City of Lights’, is one of the world’s truly great cities. The River Seine, lifeblood of the city, splits it neatly in two, flowing past the Ile de la Cité and the cathedral of Notre Dame. The history and culture can also be discovered throughout its distinctive districts. The village atmosphere of hilly Montmartre with its elegant landmark the Sacre Coeur; the Marais district and its winding streets that evoke medieval Paris; and the grand 19th century boulevards that dominate so much of the city.
Paris has so much to offer with its huge variety of heritage, architecture and culture, from the history of the Louvre Museum, to the ultra modern Opera de la Bastille; from Eiffel’s world famous Tower, to the Champs-Elysées headed by the Arc de Triomphe. All this, together with wonderful restaurants and some of the best shopping in the world make Paris an unmissable place to visit.
