Bredgar and Wormshill Light Rly
An overcast day at the Bredgar and Wormshill Light Railway in Kent. Very popular with Easter visitors nonetheless. Three trains and four locomotives were running. A good day despite the gloom........and mud.

This museum is very similar to the Hollycombe Steam museum, but I prefer Bredgar as it's much tidier than Hollycombe. The loco's are clean and well presented as is the estate.
A nice collection of classic cars and tractors attended this once a month steaming,
After all the lovely weather we have had it rains when we want to film a railway.
Thanks to the staff for putting on a great show.

Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway gala, 10/2018 (part 2)
Following a wet and cold morning, the weather cleared for an hour or so, but soon it turned showery again. This video shows the diesel parade, and double-headed trains struggling up the gradient past the locomotive shed. Finally the steam locomotives assembling for the evening parade, wild steam clouds mixing with a wild sunset.

Narrow Gauge Steam in Kent - July 2017
July 2017 saw the Dragons Friendly Light Railway's director off on his hols. Of course, holidays wouldn't be complete without a quick stop off at some railways. Here we see some footage from the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway, the Bredgar & Wormshill Light Railway, and finally the Romney, Hythe, and Dymchurch Railway. Enjoy!
Royal Naval Ordnance Depot
In 1871 a committee was convened to discuss a proposal for a powder magazine within the area of Medway as the current magazine could not be expanded.
The proposed magazine would hold 40,000 barrels split between five magazines but in the event of emergency they could hold much more.
Completion of the magazines came in 1875 with the workforce being made up of convict labour. The magazines were connected to a small barracks which had been constructed 3 years earlier, these housed 8 officers and 120 men who’s jobs were to guard the site. The magazine was connected via a narrow gauge railway to another magazine a short distance away.
Each magazine was built of brick and within them were travelling cranes. Each separate magazine was surrounded by a mound of earth, within the magazine was divided in two by a spine wall with two entrance porches and their own sentry rooms.
Originally the magazines were known as a Royal Naval Ordnance Depot but became known as Royal Naval Ordnance Depots when the Navy acquired older magazines within the area.
