S&KLR FootEx MELIOR Saturday 20th May 2017
A year on since Neil and I drove and fired SUPERB here is another Footplate Experience at the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Light Railway. This time using 0-4-2 saddle tank Kerr, Stuart & Co. Ltd. No.4219 of 1924 'MELIOR'
An excellent day including prepping, cleaning, driving and a bit of firing. Finally disposal of the engine on shed at the end of the day.
Many thanks to all at the S&KLR that make it all possible.
The Chattenden & Upnor Railway
Kind of an abandoned project. Found this early forgotten shorter version, which has no commentary and features a different (non computer generated) map. Had the bright idea to film this on digital & super 8, ( In both widescreen & standard format). Documentary featuring the old (and no longer In existence) narrow gauge military railway at Upnor. And the now closed Sittingbourne light railway, to which some of the rolling stock from Upnor, was re-located. Photographed between 1999 - 2006.
Cameras used were:
Panasonic NV-DX10
Nalcolm FTL 1000
Elmo 260S-XL
Telecine: Filmtek
Filmstock: Kodachrome

Hastings DEMU 1001 goes to Folkestone Harbour
Sunday 21st December 2008 saw Hastings DEMU 1001 operate its first public tour, in over three years. The Green Thumper, formed mainly of class 201/202 DEMU vehicles, worked a 'Christmas Onward Tour', which was organised by Hastings Diesels Limited (the owners of 1001) and The Remembrance Line Association Limited, who are campaigning to save the Folkestone Harbour branch.
The tour originated at Hastings, picking up passengers at Battle, Etchingham, Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and London Victoria. After arriving at Victoria 30 minutes early, giving passengers more time to stretch their legs and take pictures of the train, the Thumper continued on its journey, running fast down to Folkestone Harbour via the Maidstone East line.
A shuttle trip was organised from Folkestone Harbour station, up to Folkestone East Sidings and back. The trip gave local residents and enthusiasts a chance to ride on the superbly restored DEMU. The shuttle trip also gave those on the main tour a chance to see the unit tackle the 1 in 30 gradient from the lineside.
The return journey to London Victoria and Hastings was the same as the outward. Even the 25-30 minute early arrival at Victoria was the same the outward!

SOUTH EAST ENGLAND - THE RESTORED RAILWAYS OF BRITAIN
The South East is rich in privately preserved steam railways, ranging from the famous standard gauge Bluebell Railway, which was taken over by enthusiasts over 30 years ago, to the 13 and a half mile long Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch, the most fully equipped 15 inch gauge railway in the modern world. This programme also contains the old world charm of a wine and dine train on the Lavender Line, industrial narrow gauge nostalgia on the Sittingbourne and Kemsley Railway and reflections of the expanding Kent and East Sussex Railway.

Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway 2015-09-06
This weekend the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway is celebrating a festival with special trains and model railroad layouts. Because we needed too much time at the Avon Valley Railway and Google Maps had undercharged the travel time, we are only able to take pictures of the train at the approaching and the exit. It means for me that I will return to this railway in the foreseeable future.
