Reel Big Fish is an American ska punk band from Huntington Beach, California, best known for the 1997 hit Sell Out. The band gained mainstream recognition in the mid-to-late 1990s, during the third wave of ska with the release of the gold certified album Turn the Radio Off.
Reel Big Fish's self-released debut album, Everything Sucks, was successful and became an underground hit spread by word-of-mouth, which led to the band signing a deal with Mojo Records. In August 1996, the band released the album Turn the Radio Off on the new label, which appealed to fans of ska punk style, and the band began touring throughout the United States. After the single Sell Out became well known in mainstream venues, including MTV, the album peaked at number 57 on the Billboard charts, staying on the charts for 32 weeks. However, the ska revival was short-lived, and their 1998 album Why Do They Rock So Hard? failed to match the sales of the band's previous record. In 1998, the band appeared in the movie BASEketball, performing in the stands to rouse the crowd. The band also collaborated on the soundtrack with a cover of a-ha's Take on Me. Why Do They Rock So Hard? was the last album for three members of the band. Trombonist Grant Barry took leave and trumpet player Tavis Werts quit. Drummer Andrew Gonzales left the team to spend more time with his family. Reel Big Fish then had a changing cast of drummers and trumpeters over the next six years.
In 2002 the band fared much better on the rock charts, particularly because of the single Where Have You Been?, which did not prominently feature the horn section. Former Suburban Rhythm drummer Carlos de la Garza and ex-Spring Heeled Jack U.S.A. trumpeter Tyler Jones, who tracked for two songs on Cheer Up! (because Werts had already done the majority of recording before his departure), were brought in. De la Garza's last concert with Reel Big Fish was on June 20, 2003 at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California. That concert was later released as a DVD in the The Show Must Go Off! series. Jones appeared in the Music Videos for Where Have You Been? and Monkey Man, and continued to play live in Reel Big Fish until early 2005. He was replaced by trumpeter John Christianson, who had played with Barrett in The Forces of Evil.
On April 5, 2005, Reel Big Fish released their fourth album on Mojo; We're Not Happy 'Til You're Not Happy. Justin Ferreira (who replaced De La Garza) was on drums for the recording, but left before the album's release to join the Orange County band Takota and subsequently is listed as an additional musician on the CD. He was replaced by Ryland Steen.
Compared to the previous album (Cheer Up!), which was more lighthearted and cheerful, Allmusic describes the songs in We're Not Happy 'Til You're Not Happy as angry and embittered, but also deemed the album as super catchy. Common themes expressed throughout the songs include jealousy, regret, short-lasting fame, and disappointment toward mainstream record companies.
Aaron Barrett has stated that We're Not Happy 'Til You're Not Happy was the third record in a trilogy that began with Turn the Radio Off. The first one was about being in a band and trying to make it. Then Why Do They Rock So Hard? was like, 'we've made it, we're rock stars'. Cheer Up we made because we had to make it. But We're Not Happy 'Til You're Not Happy is about us being old and jaded now.
In March 2012, Reel Big Fish announced on Facebook that they had begun recording a new album of new, original songs. The album is entitled Candy Coated Fury, though the band also considered Honk If You're Horny as a title The album was released on July 31, 2012.

Brooklyn Orthodox Teen Completes Demanding Ironman Triathlon
07.25.2012
LAKE PLACID, NY
Lake Placid, NY - An Orthodox Flatbush resident was one of the top finishers in his class on Sunday in Lake Placid, NY, as he competed in a grueling triathlon that combined swimming, biking and running into a rigorous athletic event that spanned a distance of over one hundred and forty miles.
Nineteen year old Yaakov Bressler, who learns in Yeshiva Ruach HaTorah of Brooklyn while attending Brooklyn College at night, is a veteran runner, having competed in the JRunners Catskill Relay Race, runs for Our Place and numerous other events. While Bressler won both the JRunners Health Awareness Run and the L'Chaim 5K Road Race Run for Israel this year, he is quick to note that none of the races he has ever run previously were anything close to the Ironman Triathlon, which consists of three consecutive legs: a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 112 mile bike race and finally a 26.2 mile marathon run. There is a time limit for each leg of the race, and most of the twenty eight Ironman competitions held around the world have a strict cutoff time of seventeen hours.
I first heard of the Ironman competition a few years ago and I thought to myself, 'Wow, this is impossible. No one could possibly do this,' Bressler told VIN News. But then at the beginning of this year, I started thinking to myself 'What if I just trained for it? Maybe I really could do the impossible.' This past Sunday, I managed to do what I thought was impossible.
Ironman triathlons are considered to be the ultimate endurance test for athletes and are open to both men and women over the age of eighteen. Most first time competitors aim just to finish the race and earn the coveted title of Ironman, given to those who complete the race. Over the Ironman's thirty four year history, it has received a vast amount of media coverage and with sponsorships and donations for the event, the winner can often earn prize money ranging in amount from $10,000 to $500,000. Ironman triathlons are currently held in nine locations around the United States, as well as France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, the United Kingdon, Wales, Sweden, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, New Zealand and South Africa.
Bressler, who is the second of seven children and a twin, trained for the triathlon for a year. Described by his mother as a chronic overachiever, he has already set his sights on a professional career in medicine and was the third youngest competitor in yesterday's race which was held in Lake Placid, New York.
The other two younger runners were both eighteen and professional runners, said Yaakov's mother, Toby Bressler. And there was my little yeshiva boy, who insisted on competing the entire way in his yarmulke.
Bressler's finish time of 11:55:29 gave him an overall rank of 440, out of a field of approximately 3000 athletes. Bressler placed tenth in his age group, earning him a coveted spot in the prestigious Honolulu Ironman competition, considered to be the Super Bowl of triathlons. Bressler will not be competing in the event which is held on Shabbos.
Both Bresslers reported a warm welcome from the crowd, as numerous onlookers called out Shalom and Mazel Tov as Yaakov raced by, with one woman shouting out Say Shma for me! Bressler admits that many competitors and onlookers were shocked to see an Orthodox Jew competing in the race.
So many people think that being Orthodox precludes being involved in a competitive athletic event, said Bressler. It was a real eye opener for them to see someone Jewish able to take on this kind of challenge.
For Mrs. Bressler, seeing her son complete the triathlon was an emotional moment, made even more so when Yaakov stopped on his way to the finish line, sacrificing a few seconds on his official race time in order to embrace both of his parents.
I was crying hysterically, admits Mrs. Bressler. I am so proud of him not only for running the triathlon, but for everything he stood for, going out to run this race openly as an Orthodox Jew.
Bressler's fellow JRunners competitors anxiously spent the day monitoring his progress, thrilled to see one of their own competing in such a prestigious and rigorous event.
So many of us were tracking Yaakov and emailing the whole group with a play by play and color commentary, said Martin Bodek, the official beat reporter for JRunners. We were pulling for him, shouting for him and cheering him on as he was on all of our minds as we went about our typical summer Sunday. We are seriously proud of Yaakov.
Asked if he was going to sign up for next year's triathlon, a tired and aching Bressler laughingly remarked, Right now I don't want to do this again. But if you ask me again in a week, I know I am going to say yes.

The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic conference in the United States in which its fifteen member universities compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA's) Division I, with its football teams competing in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest levels for athletic competition in US-based collegiate sports. The ACC sponsors competition in twenty-five sports with many of its member institutions' athletic programs held in high regard nationally. ACC teams and athletes have claimed dozens of national championships in multiple sports throughout the conference's history. Generally, the ACC's top athletes and teams in any particular sport in a given year are considered to be among the top collegiate competitors in the nation.
Founded in 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina, by seven universities located in the South Atlantic States, the conference added additional members in late 1953, 1979, 1991, 2004, and 2013. The 2004 and 2013 additions extended the conference's footprint into the Northeast and Midwest. The most recent expansion in 2013 saw the additions of the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pittsburgh, and Syracuse University. In 2012, the University of Maryland's Board of Regents voted to withdraw from the ACC to join the Big Ten Conference. On November 28, 2012, the ACC's Council of Presidents voted unanimously to invite the University of Louisville as a full member, replacing Maryland.
