Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:

Brett Messer - 57th Halifax Art Festival 2019 - Sultans of Swing & Moon Dance
The 57th Annual Halifax Art Festival, November 2 & 3, 2019, has risen in attendance and reputation to become one of the most prestigious festivals in the Central Florida area. It is the second oldest continual festival in Florida. It’s known for its elegance of venue staged on Daytona’s Historic Beach Street between the Riverfront Shops and the Halifax River.
This year, the Halifax Art Festival was ranked 18th in the Nation for Fine Arts Festivals by a national artist publication, Sunshine Artist Magazine. In 2018, the Festival received the Daytona News-Journal’s “Best Local Festival” and “Best Outdoor Art Festival” by the Daytona, Ormond and Port Orange readers of Daytona’s Hometown News. The Festival, also, has received grants from the Halifax Area Advertising Authority.
The Festival features a unique blend of fine arts, crafts, music, food, and fun. Admission is free to the public with plenty of free parking for artful shoppers and artists.
The Festival features juried local, regional, and national original works of art from over 250 artists offering affordable art work for the established as well as the beginning collector.
A comprehensive, multi-level marketing, publicity and social media campaign draws 30,000 shoppers from the surrounding markets, the I-4 Orlando/Tampa corridor, as well as the local ‘snowbirds.’
The Festival features two sections – Competitive Fine Arts and Crafts which are juried and judged and eligible for prize and patron money. Non-Competitive Arts are juried but not eligible for awards. Art works in both sections are all original.
The Student Art Exhibit and Competition features art students from kindergarten through twelfth grade from the Volusia County public school system as well as area private schools. The student art is located at the News-Journal Center at Daytona State College, 221 North Beach Street, Daytona Beach, during Festival hours. After the Sunday Awards Ceremony, the winning art will be displayed at the Daytona’s Museum of Arts & Sciences, 352 South Nova Road, Daytona Beach, Florida, for one week.
The Festival, also, supports Children Pre-K to 5 years old. They are invited to create their own masterpieces under the “Little Van Gogh” tent while friends and family watch. Art supplies are free to every child.
Live music will be featured both Saturday and Sunday. Plenty of seating will be available in Riverfront Park to enjoy the music and a snack. Shoppers may choose from food trucks or the many fine bistros and restaurants along Beach Street.
The 57th Halifax Art Festival is presented and produced by the Guild of the Museum of Arts & Sciences.
The Festival is the Signature Fundraiser for the Museum and also benefits the Cici and Hyatt Brown Museum of Art and the Charles and Linda Williams Children’s Museum.

Ormond Beach Art Museum & Gardens
Visit & Enjoy - The work of prominent Florida, regional and national artists is featured in shows throughout the year at OMAM, and the museum exhibition committee also hosts an annual student exhibition and other unique originally curated shows. The exhibition calendar is varied and includes works in all media and styles.
Both the Museum and the Gardens were founded as a memorial tribute to veterans of World Wars I & II. A monument on the Museum grounds located with the American Flag recognizes local soldiers who served in World War I. A bronze plaque inside the Museum lists all Ormond Beach residents who served in World War II with an honor role recognizing those who gave their lives, and original sculptures dedicated to those who served in the Korean War and the Vientam War are installed in the Memorial Gardens.
The Museum staff also hosts an art outreach program with local veterans in the V.A. Wellness program.
