Daytona Beach is a city on Florida’s Atlantic coast. It’s known for Daytona International Speedway, which hosts February’s iconic Daytona 500 NASCAR race. The beach has hard-packed sand where driving is permitted in designated areas. Near the boardwalk’s rides and arcades, Daytona Beach Bandshell stages free summer concerts. Steps from the beach, Daytona Lagoon water park offers go-karts, laser tag and waterslides.
Daytona Beach, famous as the World Center of Racing and home of NASCAR, is part of the East Central Florida greater metropolitan area. Daytona Beach is the best known of the seven area communities. Although the wide 23-mile (37km) stretch of white sandy beach is still the biggest attraction here, with over 8 million visitors flocking to the area every year, the metro area is rapidly changing from event Mecca to family oriented resort destination. Historical sites like the Main Street Pier, the Oceanfront Boardwalk and the Clocktower in Oceanfront Park add to the appeal of this exciting city.
Daytona Beach hosts large groups of out-of-towners that descend upon the city for various events, notably Speedweeks in early February when over 200,000 NASCAR fans come to attend the season-opening Daytona 500. Other events include the NASCAR Coke Zero Sugar 400 race in July, Bike Week in early March, Biketoberfest in late October, and the 24 Hours of Daytona endurance race in January.
The city of Daytona Beach is split in two by the Halifax River lagoon, part of the Intracoastal Waterway, and sits on the Atlantic Ocean. It is bordered on the north by Holly Hill and Ormond Beach and on the south by Daytona Beach Shores, South Daytona and Port Orange.
The Museum of Arts and Sciences is the primary cultural facility for Daytona Beach and Volusia County. Other museums located in the city include the Southeast Museum of Photography and the Halifax Historical Museum. The Museum of Arts and Sciences is actually a collection of museums and galleries and includes the Klancke Environmental Complex, the Cuban Museum, Root Family Museum featuring one of the largest Coca-Cola collections in the world, the Dow American Gallery and the Bouchelle Center for Decorative Arts which together form what is probably one of the finest collections of furniture and decorative arts in the Southeast. There are also changing exhibitions and a children's science center opened in 2008. Since 1952, the non-profit Daytona Beach Symphony Society has sponsored performances by U.S. and international orchestras, opera and dance companies each season at the Peabody Auditorium.

Daytona Beach, FL and the Boardwalk
CORRECTION: Dale Earnhardt, Sr. has only won the Daytona 500 once (in 1998). I incorrectly stated that he has won 50 of the Daytona 500 races. Although he has won around 50 races at Daytona, only 1 was the Daytona 500.
After leaving St. Augustine, I head another hour south to Daytona Beach, FL. I first take a quick stop at the Daytona International Speedway, home to the Daytona 500. Although I arrived too late to attend one of the tours, it was still cool to see it in person. I then head over to the beach to walk along Atlantic Ave and the boardwalk which runs parallel to the Atlantic Ocean. I also got to walk out on a fishing pier which great views of the coast. I then went back to the mainland to check out the Daytona Arcade Museum where, for a flat fee, you can play many great classic arcade games for as long as you like for the day. I enjoyed my time in Daytona, and I definitely would like to come back someday to check out more sights.

My City: Daytona Beach Florida
I am born and raised in Daytona Beach Florida. I have lived on the beach and in the heart of all the Nascar, Biker and Spring Break events that happen year round in this wild city.
To get away from the hustle and bustle of this busy city I drive about 15 minutes down A1A to a hotel called Coral Sands. Its a beautiful and quiet hotel with not alot of foot traffic.
Another hotel I like to go to for tanning and lounging, I go to the new Hard Rock Hotel that just opened up earlier this year and enjoy an a nice refreshing drink from the outside bar and vibe to the live DJ thats playing great tunes.
Theres alot more to this city than the beach and Nascar and I will continue to make videos and show you guys how great this city really is!
Stay tuned! Biketober fest is coming up in October and things get WILD!!
Thank you guys for watching!
