Baby's First Flight To Croatia | Luxury Camping Life | Part 1 of 3
Our next stop in our location independent life? Croatia! Very exciting as it was our baby’s first flight.
Croatia is the country in which we lived for another six weeks as a location independent family. We started in the northern county Istria and were invited by VacanceSelect to stay in one of their mobile homes on luxury camping Lanterna. This is how we could experience the luxury camping life.
For us it was the first time flying with Philou, so we were more nervous than she was ;-) and we experienced some challenges, especially in what to take with us for these weeks in Croatia.
Thanks Vacanceselect and Lanterna for having us!

Budapest Walking Food Tour: Best Hungarian Food in Hungary
We are going on a walking food tour of Budapest, sampling a huge range of traditional Hungarian foods along the way! We even try a traditional Hungarian spirit as well.
Our tour was with Fat Boy Foodie Walks - it was a present for Ross's birthday (so not sponsored at all!) and it was such a great way to taste a lot of new things, see different parts of the city, and learn some history along the way!
It was booked through Airbnb - if you haven't used Airbnb before - use our link below to get a discount off your first booking (including this walking tour and an accommodation booking)
Then you can search for Máté's walking tour by looking for Fat Boy Foodie Walk.

the travel mode has been switched on and have finally come around to jotting down an account of the last two weeks... after a relatively smooth run with planes, trains and buses to get to the town of Trieste (just in Italy) it all looked like my travelling luck would continue, but murphy can be a very unkind man. From that point the timetables worked against us..the original plan was to head down to the ferry at rijeka and make a dash down to Dubrovnik and the islands, however the next boat didnt leave for a couple of days...Pula it was! Whilst i had a lot of time up my sleeve my travelling mate Dave had but a short week to squeeze in some r n r and get a taste for croatia. the following couple of days was spent nestled in a camping ground with bay views and more facilities than you can poke a stick at, complete with supermarket, bars and restaurant..and several hundred overweight overtanned german and austrian holidaymakers. without much more equipment than a tent it wasnt a comfortable first night but the many beers and sangrias at the campgrounds music centre help comotose us somewhat. it wasnt long before the speech slowed down, thoughts wandered and the memories of a london autumn approaching faded...the cool clear water as always was great hangover cure! in an attempt to get away from the big-boned europeans in DTs we made a dash for the boat to Zadar just up the coast from split only to find the only one that day had left..so after checking out the sights of Pula, which include an impressively complete colosseum and more roman ruins (you cant escape them in europe i guess), we trudged back to the campsite for one more night. this time determined to avoid the family scene we made for the towns nightlife only to be dropped off by our taxi driver at a bizarre resort complex somewhat like the Ye Olde **** Weake Worlde of D-generation fame..needless to say we didnt hang around for long and went in search of the casino..which after a decent half hour walk turned out to be a more adult version of **** weak world, im pretty sure they were using monopoly money finally the following evening we made it to rijeka to catch the ferry, but murphy is fickle. As i was perched at the ATM i realised id left my bank card in Pula agood 3 hour bus ride behind us and 30 minutes before the ferry departs...******! the overnight ferry to Hvar Island took us the best part of 12-13 hours but fortunately laid out in an area above the engine room, i was able to get some z's with the lulling of the humming and vibrating floor..not a bad trick arriving in Hvar we taxi to a camp ground just outside the town of Jelsa, a picturesque little fishing port. thought pretty quiet it was pretty idyllic and we set up the tent not far from the waters edge. the island of Hvar is quite rocky but is covered in pine forests and plantations of olives, lavender and citrus trees. but before relaxing too much i had to sort out the bank card fiasco..so we jumped on a bus, which packed to a point where people were seated in the doorway, together with searing heat seemed to take an etrenity..Hvar town only about 25 km away was much bigger and more touristy...i spent the first hour there onthe phone to my bank in london cancelling cards etc but with a classic strike of youngieonsafari luck the western union office was literally metres away from the phone booth and within 10 minutes i had a wad of cash to see me through until my new card arrived! the next few days we didnt achieve much of note, apart from stretching out on the rocks, swimming, reading, you know... that old chestnut! the plan was to leave with enough time for dave to have a quick look at ...
