Phoenix, Arizona
Phoenix (/ˈfiːnɪks/) is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Arizona. With 1,615,017 people (as of 2016), Phoenix is the fifth most populous city nationwide, the most populous state capital in the United States, and the only state capital with a population of more than one million residents.
Phoenix is the anchor of the Phoenix metropolitan area, also known as the Valley of the Sun, which in turn is a part of the Salt River Valley. The metropolitan area is the 12th largest by population in the United States, with approximately 4.3 million people as of 2010. In addition, Phoenix is the seat of Maricopa County and, at 517.9 square miles (1,341 km2), it is the largest city in the state, more than twice the size of Tucson and one of the largest cities in the United States.
Settled in 1867 as an agricultural community near the confluence of the Salt and Gila Rivers, Phoenix incorporated as a city in 1881. It became the capital of Arizona in 1889. Located in the northeastern reaches of the Sonoran Desert, Phoenix has a hot desert climate. Despite this, its canal system led to a thriving farming community, many of the original crops remaining important parts of the Phoenix economy for decades, such as alfalfa, cotton, citrus, and hay (which was important for the cattle industry). Cotton, cattle, citrus, climate, and copper were known locally as the Five C's of Phoenix's economy. These industries remained the driving forces of the city until after World War II, when high-tech companies began to move into the valley and air conditioning made Phoenix's hot summers more bearable.
The city averaged a four percent annual population growth rate over a 40-year period from the mid-1960s to the mid-2000s.[16] This growth rate slowed during the Great Recession of 2007–09, and has rebounded slowly. Phoenix is the cultural center of the Valley of the Sun, as well as the entire state.

Skyscrapers in Phoenix, Arizona
Even though Phoenix has a population of over one million people the tallest building is only 40 stories high. Phoenix's development dosn't focus on highrises for Downtown but on master planned communities outside the central city area.
Phoenix is the fifth largest city in the United States and is located in one of the fastest growing metropolian areas in the US.
Due to the nearby Sky Harbor Internatonal Airport the cities skyscrapers can not go any taller than 520 feet. Which is one of the reasons Phoenix doesn't have supertalls.
Today the Phoenix's suburbs such as Gilbert, Mesa, and Chandler continue to grow as more families move into master planned communites while Phoenix is building midrise condominiums.
The Downtown Phoenix Impact
In total, 66,083 jobs, $3.9 billion in wages and $9.7 billion in economic activity is generated by Downtown Phoenix activity. That represents a major boon to the local economy.
Concentrated in a land-area less than one-half of 1 percent of the city, downtown’s economic activity generates approximately $167.8 million in direct tax revenues for the City of Phoenix, Maricopa County and the State of Arizona.

Hey loves!
We were on a short family vacation and we decided to stay at the Foundre Phoenix Hotel!
Thanks to Expedia we were able to get an amazing deal & if it weren't for them we wouldn't have bumped into this hotel! The hotel was at the perfect location, close enough to all the phoenix surrounding areas and transportation as needed! The hotel was absolutely beautiful and all the art pieces at the hotel were actually on sale and created from local Phoenix artists which made this place unique! This hotel was SUPER clean, affordable, the staff was nice and overall aesthically pleasing with details! I had 1920's industrial feels and the shower was probably my favorite to unwind after a long traveling day! Also, the view was amazing! If you get the King Deluxe room you are able to enjoy a beautiful scenery of the sky lights of Downtown Phoenix! Kids friendly and has play pens as needed which was a must for us! Overall, a 5 star review! Things I would say though is that the restaurant was OK and the margaritas could have been made better! Also, the parking at the hotel is $25 dollars at night so keep that in mind... BUT you can also park on the streets (First come first serve) and there's a parking structure that's not too far from the hotel. Hope all that helps! Sending much love and hope you get the chance to stay here! :) Thumbs up from my little family and I! :)
