Antique Clock Rococo French Boudoir Table Clock 2585
Antique French Rococo Boudoir Table Clock
~ French - Circa 1880 ~
~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
Stunning original antique French clock. The style is Rococo, waisted keyhole shape with acanthus leaf shoulders, 'C' scroll feet and surmounted by a flamboyant floral finial. It stands on its original integral base. Curved fretted panels backed with red velvet are inserted into the sides, with a smaller one to the front and rear. The design is beautifully bold and heavily modelled in brass, well chased and finished. The clock is modelled in the round with a glazed back door to allow the movement to be seen, you could display it very well on a table or desk.
The beautiful dial is enamel on copper, a Roman hour ring and a separate outside minute ring. It is complete with its original finely fretted brass hands and convex glazed bezel. It is signed for the retailer A Maurel of Bordeaux.
The French movement is of high quality and has the retailers mark on the backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!
Condition of the case is excellent, beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition, no chips or scratches. We have replaced the red velvet.

Europe's first coronavirus confirmed after patients tested in France
Two people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in France, making them Europe's first confirmed cases. The two cases - one in Paris, one in Bordeaux - were confirmed by French health minister Agnes Buzyn. She said that both of the patients had travelled to China, where the deadly illness originated. At least 26 people have died from coronavirus, while an estimated 800 have been infected. Ms Buzyn said she expects more cases to be confirmed in the coming days, telling a press conference: We have two cases. We will probably have other cases. The city of Wuhan, home to 11 million people, has been put on lockdown, with transport in and out suspended due to fears of the SARS-like virus spreading. People in the UK face ongoing tests for coronavirus as the Chief Medical Officer for England said there is a fair chance Britain will see cases emerge. Fourteen people were given the all-clear on Thursday but others are undergoing tests formulated by Public Health England (PHE), Professor Chris Whitty said. It comes as the Department of Health confirmed that officials are trying to trace 2,000 people who have flown to the UK from Wuhan, China in the past few weeks, in order to check on their wellbeing. Prof Whitty spoke following a meeting of the Government's Cobra emergency committee in Whitehall, chaired by Health Secretary Matt Hancock. He said: I am working closely with the other UK chief medical officers. We all agree that the risk to the UK public remains low, but there may well be cases in the UK at some stage. We have tried-and-tested measures in place to respond. The UK is well prepared for these types of incidents, with excellent readiness against infectious diseases. We have global experts monitoring the situation around the clock and have a strong track record of managing new forms of infectious disease. The UK has access to some of the best infectious disease and public health experts in the world. A public health hub will be set up in Heathrow from today. This consists of clinicians and other public health officials, in addition to existing port health measures. In an interview, Prof Whitty said: We think there's a fair chance we may get some cases over time. Of course this depends on whether this continues for a long time, or whether this turns out to be something which is brought under control relatively quickly. He added: I think we should definitely see this as a marathon, not a sprint, we need to have our entire response based on that principle. At the minute it definitely looks like this is a lot less dangerous if you get it than Ebola, and a lot less dangerous than the recent coronavirus MERS, and it's probably less dangerous if you get it than SARS virus. What we don't know is how far it's going to spread, that really is something we need to plan for all eventualities. The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the new coronavirus an emergency in China but stopped short of declaring i

Liang Wudong, 62, from Hubei Province, was suspected of contracting the disease on January 16 at Hubei Provincial Hospital of Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine and was transferred to the Jinyintan Hospital two days later. The former ENT medic, who retired from last June, died this morning at around 7am. He complained of tightening of chest and feeling flustered when he was admitted to the hospital. A detailed checkup has revealed him of a chest infection, according to Wuhan Evening Post. Dr Liang was put to quarantine and later transferred to Jinyintan Hospital. It is understood he has history of heart disease and coronary heart disease. A screenshot of messages from a closed group within doctors reveals that Dr Liang's mother had called to the hospital and said that her son could not be saved. A medical staff from the ENT department told local media that Dr Liang was allegedly infected with the virus. Have you been affected by the virus? Health Minister Agnes Buzyn told a news conference these were the first two confirmed cases in Europe and that more cases were likely to occur in France. Full scale of coronavirus panic laid bare in shock footage inside Wuhan hospital - Today News

For any copyright, please send me a message. The full scale of the panic surrounding the coronavirus outbreak in China has been laid bare in shocking footage from inside a hospital. A dramatic video shows chaotic scenes as crowds of people wearing face masks while waiting to be tested fill jam-packed corridors of a hospital in Wuhan, where the virus originated. People who appear to be medical staff are seen in full protective body suits pointing and shouting as they try and make their way through the queues. In one disturbing scene, a patient appears to be slumped ill on a chair while a woman standing with him wails and shakes in apparent distress. Have you or a family member been affected by coronavirus? Contact webnews@mirror.co.uk The video was recorded by someone waiting to be tested for the virus themselves, and provided to the Mirror Online by a source who did not wish to be identified. They said: The hospitals can’t keep up with the amount of people being tested and it’s resulting in people falling unwell and passing out. The country is in panic and a lot of people are sicker than there saying. They don’t have control of it. The virus has killed 26 people in China and infected at least 800 others, including a case in Chicago and another near Seattle.
