(Epic Motor) Rare Long Hydraulic Elevator @ The Kemper Art Museum - St. Louis, MO
(10-13-19) This art museum is located on Washington University's campus in St. Louis. At first, this elevator just looks like a typical generic, but looking closer, you see it is a LONG elevator! I have never seen Long use innovation before, and this could have been one of the last installs Long did before being bought out by Kone. The motor on this thing is a beast!

Places to see in ( Saint Louis - USA )
Places to see in ( Saint Louis - USA )
St. Louis is a major city in Missouri along the Mississippi River. Its iconic, 630-ft. Gateway Arch, built in the 1960s, honors the early 19th-century explorations of Lewis and Clark and America's westward expansion in general. Replica paddlewheelers ply the river, offering views of the arch. The Soulard district is home to barbecue restaurants and clubs playing blues music.
St. Louis, the largest metropolitan area in Missouri, is a major midwestern metropolis filled with culture. St. Louis planners have created an aesthetically beautiful city with green space at the street level. It is said that St. Louis is second only to Washington, D.C. in the number of free activities available in an American city. The Gateway Arch, the world's tallest man-made monument, forms a triumphant city skyline. An open mall surrounded by reflecting pools leads up to the historic court house, the site of the Dred Scott decision, facing the Gateway Arch.
The city is named after King Louis IX of France. St. Louis is known by the nickname of The Gateway to the West. The city was the last major stop before pioneers journeyed Westward to the Pacific coast. The city also played a large part during the steamboat era due to its position at the confluence of the Mississippi River and the Missouri River. St. Louis was acquired from France by the United States during President Thomas Jefferson's term in 1803 as part of the Louisiana Purchase. The transfer of power from Spain was made official in a ceremony called, Three Flags Day. On March 8, 1804, the Spanish flag was lowered and the French one raised. On March 10, the French flag was replaced by that of the USA. In 1904, St. Louis hosted that year's World's Fair and the Summer Olympic Games. Many of the parks, buildings, and finer homes in St. Louis were built around this time period. While there are few, if any, living residents who attended the Fair, it holds an important place in the modern development of the city.
Slide into St Louis and revel in the unique vibe of the largest city in the Great Plains. Beer, bowling and baseball are some of the top attractions, but history and culture, much of it linked to the Mississippi River, are a vital part of the fabric. And, of course, there's the iconic Gateway Arch that you have seen in a million pictures; it's even more impressive in reality. Many music legends, including Scott Joplin, Chuck Berry, Tina Turner and Miles Davis, got their start here and jammin' live-music venues keep the flame burning.

Spotlight On St. Louis || The St. Louis Art Museum
Segment on the St. Louis Art Museum that I made for Mondays in Midtown, a news-magazine show on Saint Louis University's student-run television station, SLU-TV.
I drove through downtown St. Louis. This is what I saw.
We begin our tour of St Louis on the corner of Broadway and Cole street, downtown, at the Dome at Americas Center. This is where the St Louis Rams used to play. It’s on the north end of downtown.
We’re going to drive up and down the streets of downtown St. Louis and show you different points of interest. It’s Wednesday, December, 18, 2019 at 10 o clock in the morning.
St Louis had just received 4 inches of snow the previous day, but on this day, the sun was shining bright. On an average year, St Louis gets about 16 inches of snow, so for St Louis, this was considered pretty decent snowfall.
St Louis was named for King Louis IX. The city was founded in 1764 as a French fur-trading village. Nicknamed the gateway to the west, St Louis has more free major tourist attractions than any other city in the country outside Washington, D.C. Visitors pay nothing to visit the art museum, the history museum, the science center and the zoo.
We’re coming up on Clark Street, which is where Busch Stadium is. This is home to the St Louis cardinals, Say Mappy: Did you know: The cardinals have won 11 world series titles. Also on this street is ballpark village on the right, where there are lots of restaurants and bars. On game days you can sit on the roof and watch the games from across the street.
We’re heading west now towards the Enterprise Center, which is another venue where they play hockey games and hold concerts. This is where the St Louis Blues play for the NHL. They just won the Stanley Cup only a few months back.
We’re heading north now on14th Street up towards the heart of downtown. Off to the east, you can see The Arch, located on the banks of the Mississippi River. We’ll go down there and get a closer view later.
We’ll head east now on Washington Street.
The American Planning Association called Washington Street one of the 10 best streets in America. Years back this was a pretty dumpy street, but after $100 million in renovations, now its one of the trendiest and hottest spots in St. Louis.
They say Washington Street is the perfect combination of modern chic meets classic 19th century architecture lined with beautiful lofts, eclectic boutiques and restaurants and exciting nightlife.
Now, we’re going to head south on 6th Street.
In 1904, St. Louis was the first U.S. city, and only the third in the world, to host the modern summer Olympics. St. Louis is home to Anheuser Busch, and Nestle Purina.
Directly in front of us is Keiner (like weaner) Plaza Park, which has a skating rink, playground, fountains and a concert area.
Off to the distance you can see the arch. The big domed building is the old courthouse, which is now part of the Gateway Arch National Park. It used to be where many important court cases, including the infamous Dred Scott anti slavery court case.
We’re going to go back down Broadway and take Market Street.
Now we’ll take Tucker Blvd north again.
This is Olive Street.
Now, we’re going to go back to 4th Street and head north so we can get to the entrance for the Gateway Arch.
In this part of town are a number of casinos.
The Gateway Arch is 630 feet high. It’s nicknamed the Gateway to the West, and is a monument to the Western Hemisphere. It’s the tallest arch in the world and the tallest man-made monument in the United States.
It was built in 1965 for a cost of 13 million dollars.
For $12 bucks you can take a tram to the top where there are windows from which you can see 30 miles to the east and west. People who go to the top sometimes get scared, since on windy days, it sways as much as 18 inches in either direction.
South of the arch now, we begin our departure from St. Louis. We’ll cross the Mississippi River over I-55 on the Clay Bridge.
St Louis is a really awesome city and there’s a TON of stuff to do. This was just the downtown area. There are many other areas to explore. St Louis gets a bad rap for being one of the most dangerous cities in the country, and there are some really bad and dangerous areas in the greater St Louis Metro area outside of downtown proper.
But as far as downtown itself, it’s a great city.

The Revitalization of Soldiers Memorial Military Museum
Soldiers Memorial Military Museum is a state-of-the-art museum facility honoring local military service members, veterans, and their families in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. Over the course of a two-year, multimillion dollar revitalization, the Missouri Historical Society worked with Mackey Mitchell Architects to maintain the architectural and historic integrity of this beautiful, classical-style building with art deco flourishes while also bringing it up to contemporary museum standards. Soldiers Memorial is now LEED-certified to the Gold level, an impressive feat for a historic building.

The Saint Louis Complaint Choir
The Complaint Choir is an independently producible project initiated by the Finnish artists Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen. Tellervo Kalleinen (born 1975) and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen (born 1971) live and work in Helsinki. Their work has been featured in exhibitions at the Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Artspace, Sydney; and KIASMA, The Museum of Contemporary Art, Helsinki.
Inspired by the Finnish idea of Valituskuoro—literally complaints choir—the artists created the first choir in 2005 at an artists' residency in Birmingham, England, and have since given the project over to be executed worldwide in cities such as St. Petersburg, Russia, Chicago, and Florence, among others. The Complaint Choir is formed by the collection of complaints from people around a given city, which is then translated into a musical score by a local composer and performed by a choir comprised of residents of the host city. The project is intended to suggest a sense of communal endeavor through the cathartic process of airing of negative thoughts and feelings about the city one lives in, while engaging a comic tension between the serious expressive form of choral music and the often frivolous nature of the complaints.
From April 7–17, 2011 The Front Room at CAM and The Saint Louis Complaint Choir welcomed visitors to submit their complaints. Conductor Merry Keller then worked with a volunteer choir to select complaints from the community, transfer into lyrics, and write an original musical composition for the project. The Saint Louis Complaint Choir then publicly performed in select locations in St. Louis with a final performance on June 16, 2011 at CAM.
Special thanks to: Conductor Merry Keller, singers from the Saint Louis community, the City of St. Louis, and the Saint Louis public for submitting their complaints to CAM.
