About Escape Rooms
An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players are locked in a room and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles and escape within a set time limit. The games are physical versions of escape the room video games. Games are set in a variety of fictional locations, such as prison cells, dungeons and space stations, and are popular as team building exercises.
The earliest room was created in 2006, and escape rooms became popular in the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Canada and mainland China in the 2010s. Permanent escape rooms in fixed locations were first opened in Asia and followed later in North America, Europe, Australia, and South America. Notable organisers include AdventureRooms, ClueQuest, The Escape Hunt Experience, ClueJob, and Puzzle Break.
The earliest escape room, Origin, was created in Silicon Valley by a group of system programmers in 2006. The mysteries and challenges in the game were inspired by the works of Agatha Christie and became a popular tourist attraction.
Real Escape Game (REG) in Japan was developed by 35-year-old Takao Kato, of the Kyoto publishing company, SCRAP Co., in 2008. It is based in Kyoto, Japan and produces a free magazine by the same name. Beyond Japan, escape games appeared in Singapore from 2011. Escape games in Singapore expanded quickly with over 50 games by 2015.
In 2015, there were over 2,800 escape room venues worldwide. These are particularly lucrative for the operators, as the upfront investment can be as low as $7000 USD, while a party of 4-8 customers pay around $25-30 USD per person for one hour to solve a room puzzle, being able to generate annual revenue in the range of several hundred thousands.
A 2015 American Science Channel television game show Race to Escape is based on this theme.

Cori Copley | Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston
A FRIENDLY NEW EMPLOYEE JOINS THE FAIRMONT COPLEY PLAZA STAFF
Cori Copley is the Pet-Friendly Hotel’s New Canine Ambassador (and has her own Instagram page: @CoriCopley)
Fairmont Copley Plaza is proud to continue its rich tradition of offering lovable, adorable service to guests with the arrival of Cori Copley, its new Canine Ambassador. Cori is a two-year-old female black Labrador adopted from the Guide Dog Foundation, a Long Island, NY-based nonprofit organization that provides trained guide dogs to those who are blind or visually impaired. During Cori’s guide dog training, her trainer noticed that she was more suited to be a pet rather than a working dog, which resulted in a wonderful career change into hospitality. She follows in the pawsteps of Carly Copley, now retired, and the hotel’s first Canine Ambassador, the famous Catie Copley.
Cori’s caretaker is Fairmont Copley Plaza’s longtime Concierge of 14 years, Joe Fallon. Joe was also the caretaker of Catie Copley, similarly adopted from the Guide Dog Foundation. Visitors can find the hotel’s friendly new canine working in the lobby during Joe’s shift at the concierge desk, Sunday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Off duty, Cori has already explored several north shore beaches and likes going on Joe’s boat, acting as ‘first mate’—she’ll be a New Englander in no time.
As the pet-friendly hotel’s Canine Ambassador, Cori joins guests on walks and runs, socializes with visitors, stops by meeting breaks upon request, and will eventually serve as a community liaison by appearing at neighborhood and charitable events. Cori is still acclimating to the hotel environment, but already has a few sweet habits—she loves receiving belly rubs on the lobby carpet, and gives lots of puppy kisses when she meets new friends.
For the first time, Fairmont Copley Plaza’s resident dog will have its own Instagram page. Follow @CoriCopley to keep up with Cori’s adventures “working” at a luxury hotel.
Travelers missing their own pet or looking for a furry companion on the road can reserve the hotel’s Canine Adventure Package, which includes a walk with Cori, a stuffed Cori Copley plush toy, and a pawtographed copy of “Catie Copley’s Great Escape.” Plus, Fairmont Copley Plaza will donate $10 per night to the Guide Dog Foundation.
Cori’s arrival is cause for celebration. The hotel’s restaurant, OAK Long Bar + Kitchen, has a cocktail named “Cori’s Cooler” (crop cucumber vodka, basil, lemon, soda—$15) and $1 will be donated to the Guide Dog Foundation for each Cori’s Cooler sold.
Fairmont Hotels & Resorts currently has 18 Canine Ambassadors at select properties in the U.S. and Canada, as well as Kenya.

From Pilgrims to Cotton – Boston and the Threads to America
Discover the latest research about the Pilgrim story in Boston, Lincolnshire, and how the town’s connections had a profound influence on the foundation of the United States of America.
Until now, Boston has been thought of as simply the port and market town where, in 1607, a group of separatists with no connections to the town dramatically attempted to escape, only to be betrayed and arrested, but new research is revealing a very different story... uncovering a complex and compelling tale of intrigue and influence which enhances the town's importance in both the wider beginnings of the Pilgrims as well as the foundation and administration of Boston, Massachusetts, in 1630.
In Boston Guildhall, you can visit the cells, stand in the Court Room and walk through the Council Chamber where the Pilgrims were held and tried in 1607.

Ghost screaming in haunted hotel - FULL LENGTH
WATCH the full length Documentary at: blackwellghost.com
**UPDATE: Due to legal matters, I am not allowed to say any more information regarding the exact location of this hotel. Please stop asking. Thank you!
This video was submitted to us by the hotel security manager who was standing watch on September 14, 2003 at a WINGATE HOTEL in Illinois. His voice can be heard in the background of the recording.
According to him, people staying at the hotel began calling in noise complaints to the front desk with reports of loud screaming coming from the 2nd floor--particularly room #209. There is no known history to the room according to our investigation. However, upon further review, we found that over the years, multiple complaints of strange noises were reported to be coming from the room. This is the only known recording of it.
Note to comments:
It's funny how people think this video is edited/fake. The audio is a mix down between the security camera audio and a separate recording from inside the office (which is specifically there to record in case of robbery to the hotel). People will always come to there own conclusions why a video is fake (like cameras pointed at the door). What they don't realized is that there are about 80 cameras in the hallways around the hotel, all pointing at doors and hallways.

In September 2013, an outbreak of a mutant Cordyceps fungus ravages the United States, transforming its human hosts into cannibalistic monsters known as infected. In the suburbs of Austin, Texas, Joel (Troy Baker) flees the chaos with his brother Tommy (Jeffrey Pierce) and daughter Sarah (Hana Hayes). As they flee, Sarah is shot by a soldier and dies in Joel's arms. In the twenty years that follow, most of civilization is destroyed by the infection. Survivors live in heavily policed quarantine zones, independent settlements, and nomadic groups. Joel works as a smuggler with his partner Tess (Annie Wersching) in the Boston, Massachusetts, quarantine zone. They hunt down Robert (Robin Atkin Downes), a black market dealer, to recover a stolen weapons cache. Before Tess kills him, Robert reveals that he traded the cache with the Fireflies, a rebel militia opposing the quarantine zone authorities.
The leader of the Fireflies, Marlene (Merle Dandridge), promises to double their cache in return for smuggling a teenage girl, Ellie (Ashley Johnson), to Fireflies hiding in the Boston capitol building outside the quarantine zone. Joel, Tess, and Ellie sneak out in the night, but after an encounter with a patrol, they discover Ellie is infected. Full infection normally occurs in under two days, but Ellie claims she was infected three weeks ago and that her immunity may lead to a cure. The trio make their way to their destination through hordes of infected, but find that the Fireflies there have been killed. Tess reveals she has been bitten by an infected; believing in Ellie's importance, Tess sacrifices herself against pursuing soldiers so Joel and Ellie can escape. Joel decides to find Tommy, a former Firefly, in the hope that he can locate the remaining Fireflies. With the help of Bill (W. Earl Brown), a smuggler who owes Joel a favor, they acquire a working vehicle. Driving into Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Joel and Ellie are ambushed by bandits and their car is wrecked. They ally with two brothers, Henry (Brandon Scott) and Sam (Nadji Jeter); after they escape the city, Sam is bitten by an infected, but hides it from the group. As his infection takes hold, Sam attacks Ellie, but Henry shoots him dead and commits suicide.
In the fall, Joel and Ellie finally find Tommy in Jackson, Wyoming, where he has assembled a fortified settlement near a hydroelectric dam with his wife Maria (Ashley Scott). Joel contemplates leaving Ellie with Tommy, but after she confronts him about Sarah, he decides to stay with her. Tommy directs them to a Fireflies enclave at the University of Eastern Colorado. They find the university abandoned, but learn that the Fireflies have moved to a hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. They are attacked by bandits and Joel is severely wounded.
During the winter, Ellie and Joel shelter in the mountains. Joel is on the brink of death and relies on Ellie to care for him. Hunting for food, Ellie encounters David (Nolan North) and James (Reuben Langdon), scavengers willing to trade medicine for food; David reveals that the university bandits Ellie and Joel killed were part of his group. Ellie manages to lead David's group away from Joel, but is eventually captured; David intends to recruit her into his cannibal group. She escapes after killing James, but David corners her in a burning restaurant. Meanwhile, Joel recovers from his wounds and sets out to find Ellie. He reaches Ellie as she kills David; Joel consoles her before they flee.
In the spring, Joel and Ellie arrive in Salt Lake City and are captured by a Firefly patrol. In the hospital, Marlene tells Joel that Ellie is being prepared for surgery: in hope of producing a vaccine for the infection, the Fireflies must remove the infected portion of Ellie's brain, which will kill her. Unwilling to let Ellie die, Joel battles his way to the operating room and carries the unconscious Ellie to the parking garage.

8. Cockroach
Do you know the reason behind your headaches? Is it stress? Did you skip a meal? Lack of sleep? Are you SURE?? Selvi, a 42-year-old domestic worker, thought of these reasons too. According to a report published by The New Indian Express, she had a weird feeling around her nose and eyes.
7. Spider in the Ear
The Chinese media picked up a story about a girl named Li Meng. She swore up and down that she was being punished by evil spirits! No, this not a story from the Middle Ages, it happened in 2015, the XXI century. The story goes like this: While on a hiking trip, Li and her superstitious boyfriend had a great time, until they had a fight over some berries. We’ve all been there, right??
6. Pea Plant in Lung
Hey, kids! Next time your parents insist that you eat your vegetables and you don’t feel like doing it, just say these two words: “Ron Sveden”. No, it’s not a magic spell. It’s the name of the man who returned home from the hospital with the weirdest vegetable-related diagnostic: a pea plant that was growing in his lung.
5. Green Tooth
There is not much you can do when a pea plant begins growing in your lung, but a 36-year-old Taiwanese man had a plant start growing out of his almost-dead tooth. Apparently taking care of his teeth wasn’t his favorite hobby, but after experiencing a tremendous toothache, the man decided it was time to pay a visit to the dentist.
4. Fish in Penis
Have you ever hated someone so much that you wished all kinds of bad things would happen to them? I mean it happens to the best of us, but I bet not one of you have imagined such a… disturbing event as what happened to an Indian boy a couple of years ago. The boy, according to The Daily Telegraph, was simply cleaning the fish tank in his home.
3. Squid Baby
I’m not sure where to even start with this one. Disgusting? Interesting? Funny? Ugh, I’ll let you decide. So let me just get to it. Apparently a woman was impregnated by the squid she was trying to eat. Well kind of…to be more precise, the woman’s mouth was impregnated by the squid.
2. Worm in Brain
There are a lot of movies out there where all of humanity is threatened by a small species of worms that infect human brains and slowly change them into some kind of zombie. In most of these movies the heroes ally with some badass doctors to get rid of the threat, we’re all saved! While that has never happened in real life, and will probably never happen there are worms that infect human brains as real as you.
1. A Baby
Pregnancy is supposed to be a joyful occasion, but not when the one who’s pregnant is a man. I swear! A pregnant man. Sanju Bhagat, from India, was mocked his entire life because of his not-so-normal belly. People from his village would tease him that he looked like he was nine months pregnant. What they had no idea about, is that in a way they were somehow right. Sanju was actually kind of pregnant…

The killing of Iranian general will require a greater U.S. presence in Middle East: Expert
Tensions with Iran escalated over the weekend following the U.S. drone strike that killed Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani. Karim Sadjadpour, Carnegie Endowment senior fellow, joins Squawk Box to discuss.
The U.S.′ targeted killing of Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani has roiled global markets, hitting stock futures and energy prices as the military move reverberates throughout the Middle East and beyond.
Iran’s Supreme Leader has called for three days of mourning after the country’s most powerful general was killed in a U.S. airstrike in Baghdad on Thursday night. Thousands of supporters have taken to the streets in Iran to protest the killing, with leaders in the country and militant group Hezbollah vowing revenge against the U.S.
But who was Soleimani, and why is his death so consequential for Iran, the region and the world?
For the majority of his more than 20-year career at the top of Iran’s Quds Force — the foreign operations wing of the elite paramilitary Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps — the commander, who died at age 62, operated largely in the shadows.
But in recent years he’s become something of a celebrity and the face of Iran’s expanded influence across the Middle East. He was known as the mastermind behind the Islamic Republic’s vast network of proxies stretching from Iraq and Lebanon to Syria and Yemen.
And the unique power Soleimani held to shape Iran’s foreign policy and carry out covert offensive acts — what the Trump administration dubs “malign activity” against U.S. regional interests and allies — made him unparalleled as a military and intelligence operative in the region.
“The puppet master is dead; the strings have been cut,” Michael Knights, a Gulf expert at the Washington Institute with years of experience working with local military and security agencies in Iraq and the Persian Gulf, told CNBC.
“Qasem Soleimani is a unique figure,” Knights elaborated. “We don’t have anyone like him in the U.S., and because he was experienced, capable and had the complete trust of the supreme leader of Iran, they over-concentrated an awful lot of their capability and their prestige in one man.”
“And that guy just got killed. This was always the risk.”
To emphasize Soleimani’s significance, Roman Schweizer, managing director for aerospace and defense at the Cowen Washington Research Group, wrote in an analyst note Friday: “To be clear, this is the equivalent of Iran killing the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff or the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency and then taking credit for it.”
Some security experts believe this killing is the most significant in U.S. history — for Charles Lister, a resident fellow at the Middle East Institute, it “far eclipses the deaths of [Osama] bin Laden or [Abu Bakr al-]Baghdadi in terms of strategic significance and implications ... there really is no underestimating the geopolitical ramifications of this.”
Regional analysts considered Soleimani to be the second-most-powerful leader in Iran, after only Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. And the U.S. has pursued him for decades — his operations within Iraq since 2003 killed more than 600 American personnel, the State Department revealed last year.
“Soleimani’s death is a game-changer for the Middle East,” said Behnam Ben Taleblu, a senior fellow and Iran specialist at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. “For over a decade, there has barely been a Middle Eastern hotspot that Soleimani didn’t have a proxy or militias fighting in. He was an agent of chaos.”
