Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. USA travel guide.
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is the primary international airport serving the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex area in the U.S. state of Texas.
It is the largest hub for American Airlines, which is headquartered near the airport. It is the fourth busiest airport in the world by aircraft movements and the fourteenth busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic in 2017. It is the ninth busiest international gateway in the United States and second busiest in Texas. With nearly 900 daily flights, American Airlines at DFW is the second largest airline hub in the world and the United States, behind Delta's Atlanta hub.
Located roughly halfway between the major cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, DFW spills across portions of Dallas and Tarrant counties, and includes portions of the cities of Irving, Euless, Grapevine and Coppell. At 17,207 acres (6,963 hectares; 27 square miles), DFW is larger than the island of Manhattan, and is the second largest airport by land area in the United States, after Denver International Airport.[6] It has its own post office ZIP code, 75261, and United States Postal Service city designation (DFW Airport, TX), as well as its own police, fire protection and emergency medical services. The members of the airport's board of directors are appointed by the owner cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, with a non-voting member chosen from the airport's four neighboring cities on a rotating basis.
As of December 2018, DFW Airport has service to 244 destinations, including 62 international and 182 domestic destinations within the U.S.[8] In surpassing 200 destinations, DFW joined a small group of airports worldwide with that distinction.

Check out the full episode here:
Texas State Senator Brian Birdwell is a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was also a 20-year Army Officer and the closest survivor to the point of impact at the Pentagon on 9/11. His story is incredible and this week he’s here to share it with us.
Our guest this week is a good man, great leader and dear friend to me. Within Texas’ political circles he is known to be a principled man and devoted Christian.
We had such a good time talking that we ran way long on the interview so I’m splitting it into two parts, the first of which you’re listening to and we’ll release the second half next week.
Brian Birdwell is a native Texan, decorated military veteran and lifelong conservative Republican currently representing Texas Senate District 22. Senator Birdwell was born here in my backyard of Fort Worth, Texas and served a bit over 20 years in the United States Army.
On September 11, 2001, Brian was serving in the Pentagon when American Airlines Flight 77 was crashed just yards away from his second floor Pentagon office. Brian was critically wounded and severely burned. 60% of his body was burned and more than half of those burns were 3rd degree. He was the closest survivor to the point to Flight 77’s impact.
As a Christian, Brian believes his survival and miraculous recovery after 39 operations is a testament to Christ’s grace.
In 2010, Brian ran and won a special election for the Texas State Senate, where he has served faithfully for the last 8 years. His story, both personal and political are riveting and I hope y’all will get a lot from what he shares with us.
Part one of this interview covers Brian’s background, what happened to him on 9/11 and takes us through most of his first Senate Election. In part two, which we’ll release next week, we continue to discuss his initial election and he shares some powerful advice for new candidates. We finish it off with his summation of why we need conservatives to step up and run for office.

USS Fort Worth: U.S. Navy sends littoral combat ship on 16-month mission to Singapore
The USS Fort Worth littoral combat ship departs for Asia on Monday for a 16-month deployment, the longest U.S. Navy ship deployment in 42 years, U.S. Navy officials said.
The USS Fort Worth will depart on Monday for Singapore, where the ship will be primarily based starting at the end of this year, as part of a strategy to maintain a U.S. presence overseas despite reduced resources after a decade of war.
Fort Worth has a core crew of 54 people, with 24 additional personnel operating a manned MH-60R Seahawk helicopter and an autonomous MQ-8B Fire Scout helicopter drone. Another 19 crew will maneuver the ship’s surface-warfare equipment.
The U.S. Navy expects to have four Littoral Combat Ships operating out of Singapore by 2018, with three crews rotating through two ships every four months as part of a strategy to work around budget constraints.
No U.S. aircraft carriers will be stationed in East Asian waters for at least four months next year, when the USS George Washington departs its home base in Japan for refueling and maintenance in the U.S. Details on its replacement have not been announced.

APOLLO 1 Three Astronauts Killed by Fire, ABC News, Jan 27,1967. We remember
On January 27, 1967, tragedy struck the Apollo program when a flash fire occurred in command module 012 during a launch pad test of the Apollo/Saturn space vehicle being prepared for the first piloted flight, the AS-204 mission. Three astronauts, Lt. Col. Virgil I. Grissom, a veteran of Mercury and Gemini missions; Lt. Col. Edward H. White, the astronaut who had performed the first United States extravehicular activity during the Gemini program; and Roger B. Chaffee, an astronaut preparing for his first space flight, died in this tragic accident.
A seven-member board, under the direction of the NASA Langley Research Center Director, Dr. Floyd L. Thompson, conducted a comprehensive investigation to pinpoint the cause of the fire. The final report, completed in April 1967 was subsequently submitted to the NASA Administrator. The report presented the results of the investigation and made specific recommendations that led to major design and engineering modifications, and revisions to test planning, test discipline, manufacturing processes and procedures, and quality control. With these changes, the overall safety of the command and service module and the lunar module was increased substantially. The AS-204 mission was redesignated Apollo I in honor of the crew.
