FAMOUS GRAVE TOUR: Walking Tour Of The Historic Savannah Memorial Park Cemetery In Rosemead, CA
FAMOUS GRAVES TOUR - Savannah Memorial Park Cemetery in Rosemead, is a California Historic Landmark. It's a tiny American graveyard with a huge history and many surprising, and even shocking, residents.
One of my favorites is William Billy L. Dodson, an early Los Angeles area female impersonator and performer. You don't hear of many drag queen performers from the early 1900s. That's one of the reasons I love visiting cemeteries. You just never know who you're going to discover.
It's also one of the best kept secrets when it comes to final resting places in Southern California.
For more information, visit their website at:

Savannah in a day: Colonial Park Cemetary
this cemetary was desicrated by union soldeirs who slept here during the winter of Sherman's march to the ocean. Many headstones have been moved around and switched around, it is an interesting stop on a trip to Savannah. Video 18 in the series.

The Grave of Gracie Watson - Savannah GA
See more at
Among those resting for eternity in Savannah GA’s beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery is a little girl named Gracie Watson. Gracie was a beloved fixture at the Pulaski House during the late 1800s. She passed away at age six, just two days before Easter in 1889. Her grave marker is one of the more visited spots in Bonaventure. Visitors marvel at the life-like sculpture commissioned by her father. Little Grace is also rumored to still be seen playing in Johnson Square in downtown Savannah. Grab a tissue for this latest episode of Stories, Secrets and Sagas.
EPISODE TRANSCRIPT
Sometimes with almost the blink of an eye life can change abruptly. A once happy family, prosperous in business, can end up destitute and heartbroken with loss. This story -- one of a little girl living in Savannah, Georgia during the 1800s fits that scenario. Come with me, back in time to learn her story.
As the calendar of time slips back through the years, back to a time before automobiles, airplanes and telephones, back to a world of carriages and buggies, sailing ships and the date of July 10th, 1883 when a little girl named Gracie Watson was born in Savannah, Georgia.
Gracie was born the only child of W.J. and Frances Watson, a very happy couple who managed the well-known Pulaski House. The inn was popular, but even more popular amongst the guests was endearing little Gracie. Legend has it that she was the unofficial greeter at the hotel, and I can only imagine this little angel laughing with joy as she played in and around the inn.
Up until the 20th Century, the childhood mortality rate was very high. There were no vaccines or antibiotics, and sadly, in the early spring of 1889, Gracie became sick. What probably started as a bad cold got continually worse. Eventually, it became full-blown pneumonia. The doctor was called, and I am sure he tried everything in his power, but there was nothing to do but pray she would survive.
Sadly, just two days before Easter in 1889, Gracie passed. Having a daughter of my own, I cannot imagine the trauma and sorrow this must have caused her parents. I am sure they were devastated.
To help immortalize the tragic loss her father hired a well-known sculptor to create a life-sized, visually accurate grave marker of Gracie in Bonaventure Cemetery. Today the beautiful memorial sits quietly, frozen in time, a time when Gracie was alive and all was good for the Watson family. Adding even more to an already sad story, Gracie’s father eventually quit his job at the Pulaski Hotel. It could have been from the constant reminders of his little girl playing in the hotel or maybe he just needed a change, but whatever the case, he and Frances left Savannah for their original home in New England and never returned.
Gracie is all alone here, and it has been said that on some quiet evenings around Johnson Square in downtown Savannah, a spirit of a little girl can be seen walking around and playing in the square. In her mind, the hotel and her parents are still there. In her mind, she is probably looking for new guests to greet, but she waits, caught between time for those who will never come. We’ll see you next time on Stories, Secrets and Sagas.

Little Gracie and the Missing Moss: Savannah Hauntings at Johnson Square
On a bluff overlooking a river that bears its name
lies a city of secret histories and ghostly acclaim.
Oh Savannah, you city of spectral delight,
how you can draw a chill on a hot, humid night.
Northernmost on Bull Street you'll find Johnson Square,
its haunted breath hangs heavy in the air.
The city boasts Spanish Moss hanging from every tree,
but in Johnson Square there is no hanging moss to see.
Some claim the moss won't grow over the bones of Nathaniel Greene,
others say it is for a child whose phantom form is often seen.
In the late nineteenth century, little Gracie lived on the square,
and she loved to greet any travelers that she would see there.
Despite her sweet nature death came and swept her away,
But travelers still see her waving on Johnson Square to this day.
And if you dare go as the stars start to pepper the sky,
you just might see this ghostly girl out of the corner of your eye.

10 best things to do in Savannah, Georgia
Insider advice on the 10 best things to do in Savannah from a 10Best Local Expert.
Few cities in the US can match Georgia's oldest city when it comes to romance, charm and Southern hospitality. Spanish moss-draped oak trees, stately antebellum mansions, horse-drawn carriages and mint juleps sipped on graceful verandas pave the way for magical memories. The storied squares in this pedestrian-friendly city add a soft touch, enveloping the statues and memorials you'll find around almost every corner in the Historic District.
Founded in 1733 by British colonists led by Gen. James Oglethorpe, more than 800 of Savannah’s celebrated buildings have been refurbished by local organizations, resulting in a living museum in the largest urban National Landmark District in the US.
Visitors looking for a haunting experience won't be disappointed in what's often referred to as America’s most haunted city. Many historic cemeteries and B&Bs attest to frequent ghost sightings and haunted ghost tours - such as Blue Orb and Ghosts and Gravestones - take visitors beyond, the normal tourist experience. Bonaventure Cemetery, Colonial Park Cemetery and the Mercer House are worth a visit, whether you're looking for spirits - or not.
The celebrated Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Church and Congregation Mickve Israel - the third oldest Jewish congregation in the country - are remarkable. Also of note are the museums - from the contemporary Jepson Center to the Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum and the Ships of the Sea Museum - there is something for every interest.
Several historic forts offer a peek into Civil War Savannah, while nearby Tybee Island offers refreshing beach time along with eclectic shops and funky eateries.

Paranormal Goddess
Here is a little history about this place:
Welcome to Rosemead, California. Home of the Savannah Memorial Park Pioneer Cemetery. Since 1846, when the original owner of the land upon which this chilling historical site is built first stumbled on the two graves which would become the cemetery on display today, Savannah Memorial has been the final resting place for countless people, including – at one time in its history – orphaned children.
