Julia: My name's Julia, and I'm the City Wonders guide for the Normandy tour. This tour is unique because we get to see both Utah and Omaha beaches in a day trip from Paris.
Woman 1: I thought the visit to Utah beach was great. It was beautiful. I was excited to be part of the day, to see that.
Man 1: It's a humbling experience really to go to Normandy beach. Something that I think that'll change our life forever.
Woman 2: I really enjoyed going to the cider farms. It was just quite wonderful to see the product and how they grow it, and the pride that they take in their product.
Man 2: The lunch was excellent, too. It was just wonderful, and the restaurant was a very nice restaurant.
Julia: So you can imagine what it was like on D-Day standing up there and seeing all the ships coming in all directions and all the soldiers.
Man 2: Probably the most overwhelming thing for me was the visit to the American Cemetery. Seeing all those crosses and realizing the thousands of soldiers that died that day during that battle with Normandy was, just frankly, an overwhelming feeling to me.
Man 1: The guides were extremely helpful and informative. They really did an excellent job. We really got so much out of the experience. And to think that our soldiers, our allies fought for us during World War II is really a humbling experience, and we'll never forget it.
Julia: This tour's really special to me because my grandfather took part the D-Day landings, so every time I come here, I always think about him.

YAY!! My first video, guys! And how fitting it is to be a travel highlight reel! So, I finally found the time and motivation to create last year's summer travel video!
My Boyfriend, Scott, and I are travel bugs and have both lived in different places but we’ve never gone on a trip together (Saipan not included). So to celebrate being together for five years we decided to go all-out and take a trip to Paris with stops in Loire Valley, Tours and Amsterdam (Amsterdam video coming soon! it's pretty hard to edit if you know what irie mean).
Of all the places in France, my absolute favorite spot is PARIS!! ....as cliche as it is. So rather than going on and on about everything, ♫ here are a few of my favorite things ♪ about Paris:
1. The hidden gem that is part coffee shop/part bar: There’s something completely luxe about being in a velvet cushioned room dating back to the late 1800s with a long double-sided menu of drinks, non-alcoholic and of course alcoholic. France’s famed café mixed with happy hour is my idea of a perfect afternoon.
2. The Louvre: I am a lover of art and cannot get enough of the paintings and sculptures in there. And don’t forget to look up and around the paintings because the Louvre’s architecture and interior design is in itself such a beautiful work of art.
3. The Eiffel Tower! I'm all for the local experience but you can't forget about the Eiffel Tower. I had the absolute pleasure of having dinner inside the Eiffel Tower at Restaurant 58 and then popping to the very top for some champagne at the champagne bar. I know it's not everyone's 5th anniversary, so unless you want to be splurging like that, I'd suggest to just buy a ticket to go to the very top to have some champagne, the view is spectacular! But the beautiful thing about the Eiffel Tower is you can really enjoy it from SO many other places: the bridge Pont de Bir-Hakeim, coffee shops along a street like Rue Saint-Dominique, and my favorite, Trocadero palace, right across the Eiffel. That's the perfect place to see the light show! You can't miss this, seeing the tower twinkling really takes your breath away and seems to hold it until the twinkling stops. Utter amazement.
4. Walking the Streets: Apart from being in absolute awe of seeing places like the Eiffel Tower and Arc du Triomphe face to face, I loved to walk the streets around it. The little coffee shops and boutiques are just too cute and too chic (I can’t say chic enough) and of course have a great view, ie. walking from the Arc is the famous street Champs Elysees (pronounced Sham-Zay-Lee-Zay). Also don’t forget to visit by night, you’ll get a totally different and romantic feel. *SIGH*
The Parisians know a thing or two about their fashion, and being the heart of fashion it’s hard NOT to find inspiration. Coco Chanel is a huge fashion icon there and she really pioneered the look for females having simplistic appearances and looking oh so chic in trousers. As far as my personal style goes, I love statement patterns, color, and cinched waistlines. But even though I like color and patterns, my outfit needs to be simple. I pick a statement article of clothing and base the rest of my outfit off that. My inspiration in Paris also came from the art I found literally everywhere, from the paintings in the Louvre to the architecture of the neighborhood to the French language. The rich history behind this old city really emanates from everything, just walking around and feeling its energy is intoxicating.
Of course given all that’s been going on with the multiple terrorist attacks around the world, traveling to Europe was a little nerve-wracking for me. Although, in my opinion, you can’t be afraid to live life otherwise you will definitely miss out on so much. Of course you should always be vigilant no matter where you travel, and what I would suggest is to register under the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program at step.state.gov and download their app as well as the See Something Send Something App. By going off your location, they are great resources to keep you informed of any type of dangerous activity going on in your area. It also allows you to share your itinerary with the US Embassies so that they can check in with you and know how to reach you during any event. And if I may end with one of my favorite quotes from Galileo Galilei that I absolutely LIVE by, “I have loved the stars to fondly to be fearful of the night.”

Paris France With EF Tours 2018
Recently I took a trip to Paris, France and it was fantastic! I went with EF Tours which is a brilliant tour company to travel with and we saw so many iconic sights. The Louvre, Notre Dame, The Eiffel Tower, Monte Marte, the Palace of Versailles and so much more! Experiencing the culture of Paris was a truly unforgettable experience.
