Croatia: Adriatic Delights
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | A fascinating land with a hard-fought history in a complex corner of Europe, Croatia is emerging as one of Europe's top destinations. Sampling the very best of Croatia, we start by exploring the fabled Dalmatian Coast from dramatic Dubrovnik to crusty Adriatic island ports. Heading inland, we hike through Plitvice Lakes National Park and enjoy the thriving capital city Zagreb. Our Croatian finale: the Istrian Peninsula and its enchanting port town of Rovinj.

Amazing day in Zagreb | Croatia
I was not expecting to have such a beautiful day in Zagreb, Croatia. I ended up in the Museum of Broken Relationships.
Croatia is a beautiful country and today I was visiting Zagreb. I have heard many good things about Zagreb so I was curious to see what this city had to offer in one day.
I walked around the city of Zagreb for a couple of hours as I found out that the city of Zagreb is indeed beautiful as everybody told me. I went to the Dolac Market where I could find people getting their groceries done.
We also used the Funicular to go up in the city, the Funicular is a very very old way of transportation in Zagreb city centre. If you have a chance to use it, go for it, and when you get up there don't forget to look back because the view is amazing!
Then I went to the Cathedral of Zagreb and near the Anamorphosis by Etian, and in the end of the day I went to a museum that I was very curious to see which was the Museum of Broken Relationships, yes, you read it well, broken relationships.
In the end I really spent an amazing day in Zagreb, Croatia.
Hit me up in the comments for any questions!

Our visit Zagreb travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (Croatian), top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting churches, parks, the old town, quirky neighborhoods, museums and a hockey game. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Zagreb tourism brochure, Zagreb itinerary or Zagreb, Croatia city tour also known as Zagreb, Hrvatska.
10 Things to do in Zagreb, Croatia Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Our travels in Croatia brought us to Zagreb known for its lively street markets, vast green spaces, and varied architecture that spans numerous movements, we reached the capital and hit the ground running. In this video we’re going to show you some fun things to do in Zagreb, as well as share our favourite place for sampling the most delicious truffle dishes:
From the main square you have the Flower Market, and if you head up the steps, that leads to Zagreb’s Central Market.
Zagreb Cathedral is one the city’s main landmarks. This is the largest sacral building in the Gothic style southeast of the Alps, and it’s pretty easy to spot the spires wherever you are in the city.
Our walk through the Upper Town eventually lead us to Tkalčićeva. These days you’ll find a lively street lined with restaurants, cafes and bars.
We reached what may be the most memorable museum in the whole world: The Museum of Broken Relationships. The museum is a global crowd-sourced project that deals with heartbreak. Inside you’ll find curious objects with a corresponding story.
St. Mark’s Church bears the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia on the left-hand side, and the emblem of Zagreb on the right.
To enjoy city views of the Lower Town there are some great vantage points along the promenade.
On our way down from the Upper Town, we walked through Zagreb’s famed Stone Gate. Once the eastern gate into the medieval settlement now houses a small chapel.
Let’s take a break from all the sightseeing to introduce you to one of our favourite restaurants in Zagreb when it comes to truffle dishes
And craving more views of the city, we then went up Zagreb 360.
Known as the Green Horseshoe, this park was named after Milan Lenuci who came up with the idea of creating connected green spaces right in the downtown. The horseshoe is home to several museums, galleries and archives.
If you’re into hockey and you visit Zagreb during the season, you can catch a game in the city. We watched Medveščak Zagreb play.
And that’s it for our visit to Zagreb! We hope you enjoyed this travel guide and that you got a few ideas of things to see, eat and do on your own visit.
This is part of our Travel in Croatia video series showcasing Croatian food, Croatian culture and Croatian cuisine.

Welcome to Split! We've heard so much about this little coastal town in Croatia that we knew we'd have to travel here soon. Fortunately grabbing a bus or train is easy via so we had a cheap and easy bus ride!
Split is definitely a beautiful place, the old streets have a lot of charm but it's got that coastal Croatian feel that you just can't avoid! Hopefully that comes across in this travel vlog anyway, it was Sep 2018 we visited.
Travel to Split seems really straight forward because of it's popularity and there is always a bus or boat coming and going! Getting in and out of the city is definitely straight forward and for the most part our journey from Zagreb To Split was painless.

It’s no secret that Croatia is quickly becoming one of Europe’s fastest-growing travel hotspots (and it’s not only due to its association with Game of Thrones). Tour of Zagreb city, Croatia on 13 Jan 2019.

How Expensive Is Traveling In Zagreb Croatia
Hey you guys! How expensive is traveling in Zagreb, Croatia? We show you a sampling as we took a city walk in Old Town, Zagreb which included the main square (Ban Jelačić Square) and the flower market, as well as our deciding where to stay and what to eat in Zagreb. We thoroughly enjoyed viewing the architectural sites in Zagreb; the old vibe was palpable! It was also interesting to learn about Nikola Tesla's significance to Zagreb. We had a nice, clean apartment right in the Zagreb's main square, and we only paid $37 USD! We ended up eating dinner at Lokal Mali, a newer restaurant in the heart of Old Town Zagreb. It was an excellent seafood meal (and our standards are high, what with both being from FL) with some delicious local wine and a 'special treat' dessert for only $48 USD; we highly recommend you go there while traveling in Zagreb, Croatia! Please share our video with a friend, and like always, thank you for living life! ????

The impressions of many foreigners who live in Zagreb, business people and tourists can be summed up in a single sentence: a large city which managed to stay romantic and safe. There are unlimited possibilities for visiting music and theatre events, art exhibitions, museums, sporting events and enjoying pleasant walks, interesting architecture, plentiful parks in the centre of the city, pedestrian zones and the atmosphere.
Zagreb is the city of international fairs, conventions, business meetings (Zagreb Fair and congresses), as well as sporting events. There are more than 6,000 beds in hotels, some of them belonging to world-famous hotel chains. The number of small and family-owned hotels and hostels is increasing. They all share the same level of professionalism and hospitality.
Place Featured:
Situated just below the hillside settlements of Kaptol and Gradec, it has served as the city’s commercial heart ever since 1641, when it was designated as a place where fairs could be held. Most of the buildings around the square date from the 19th century, and display a variety of architectural styles, from Biedermaier to Art Nouveau and Post-modernism. The square was Zagreb’s main marketplace and carried the name “Harmica” (Hungarian for “one thirtieth”), after the tax levied on the goods that were sold here. In 1848 the square was officially renamed in honour of Ban (“Governor”) Josip Jelačić. After World War II the name of the square was changed to “Republic Square”, only to return to its previous title in 1990.
The Zagreb Cathedral on Kaptol is a Roman Catholic institution and not only the tallest building in Croatia, but also the most monumental sacral building in Gothic style southeast of the Alps
Tkalciceva Street is a beautiful street of Zagreb lined with restaurants and cafes. At that same place once flowed a river that separated the districts of Kaptol and Gradec.
This 13th-century church is one of Zagreb's most emblematic buildings. Its colourful tiled roof, constructed in 1880, has the medieval coat of arms of Croatia, Dalmatia and Slavonia on the left side, and the emblem of Zagreb on the right.

Zagreb, Croatia: As We Travel Europe
Zagreb, Croatia: Europe Train - Hosted by Sofia von Porat & Nathan Schacherer
It's beautiful here in Zagreb. The rain is gone so it's perfect. Yeah. We’re going to start the day by visiting the upper town which is where Zagreb was founded. We've just walked up to the stone gate. This stone gate divides the upper and lower town here in Zagreb and this stone gate has a very significant meaning. It's become almost like a chapel. We found a painting of St. Mary and little baby Jesus miraculously saved from a fire in 1931. It's become a place of worship. So they had to painting in there and people come in and light candles and pray. Now we're going to go The market and see if we can buy some veggies for lunch or something. It got veggies they got flowers, Lots of local produce. So it seems really cool.
We're in Dola's market and it really is a farmers market. There are fruit and veggies everywhere. This is where the farmers come in from outside of Zagreb and sell their produce to locals. I might try and find something for myself. We've gone to the market, we've seen some veggies, we've seen all the local produce now we're going to go up this hill to the tower which has a cannon in it that goes off every day at 12 o'clock. They've got this tram that goes up to the tower, it's one of the shortest tram rides in the world. It's about 10 to 15 seconds long. It's only for the lazy ones. There are steps of the side, which were going to take. We're waiting for them to fire the cannon off the tower at 12 o'clock, so we walked around the corner and we realize that St. Mark's Church is right here, and this church has such cool designs on top of the roof, really really colorful. Normally go to church to check out the inside, you come to this church to check out the roof. I think it's really cool. Boom! We just witnessed the 12 o'clock cannon. Apparently this cannon goes off every single day at 12 o'clock. No one knows why, there's a legend, a big story behind it. No one knows the truth but every day at 12 o'clock, boom! It was powerful. I thought, there's a small little cannon hole, I thought pow, pop. It was boom, I actually felt myself get pushed backwards. Pretty cool to experience, gave me a bit of right even though I was expecting it. Now we're going to go down and grab some lunch. It's about 12 o'clock, so we're going to try and find some traditional Croatian food.
It's been a great day so far, we are having a quick lunch break. We're at this place recommended by the hostel. We got these locally brewed beer, one euro each. So cheap and so good. Very special taste, mine has a bit of a caramel taste to it. After lunch we’re going to go visit apparently one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Europe, sounds interesting. We're at Cemetery, and it's one of Europe's most beautiful cemeteries. I can see why. There just, there are graves everywhere there also is so much nature, so many trees, flowers, and it really is a peaceful place to come. It's really quiet. Do you think it's a little strange, that it's become a tourist attraction? It's a cemetery. It is kind of strange. I do see the attraction, I mean there is a lot of nature here and that does make it more beautiful. Yeah. Usually I feel that the cemeteries are little bit creepy, You know that there's something about them that's a bit uncomfortable, but here it's actually really nice. We found a nice place here at the cemetery where we can sit down and relax. We're going to try a traditional Croatian pastry. What is inside? And what is it called? It's called borek and this one is with spinach in it, and some cheese, I think as well. It looks good. Yeah it looks really good, try some. I had a bite before. It's good, huh? Really nice. We've had a great day here in Zagreb. Tomorrow we're going to catch an overnight train to Bosnia. Sarajevo's next, so we'll see you then.

The Adriatic Sea is MAGICAL!! || Croatia Day 11 - The island of Korcula, and the small town that we are staying in (Brna) have been imprinted in my memory for forever because I'm honestly having the best time! I don't think I've spent this much time in the ocean since I was a kid, and being able to do it in such a beautiful setting is truly magical. I love Croatia!
