Hereford (/ˈhɛrɪfərd/ (About this sound listen)) is a cathedral city, civil parish and county town of Herefordshire, England. It lies on the River Wye, approximately 16 miles (26 km) east of the border with Wales, 24 miles (39 km) southwest of Worcester, and 23 miles (37 km) northwest of Gloucester. With a population of 58,896,[1] it is the largest settlement in the county.
The name Hereford is said to come from the Anglo-Saxon here, an army or formation of soldiers, and the ford, a place for crossing a river. If this is the origin it suggests that Hereford was a place where a body of armed men forded or crossed the Wye. The Welsh name for Hereford is Henffordd, meaning old road, and probably refers to the Roman road and Roman settlement at nearby Stretton Sugwas. Much of the county of Herefordshire was Welsh-speaking, as reflected in the Welsh names of many places in the county (see History of Herefordshire).
An early town charter from 1189 granted by Richard I of England describes it as Hereford in Wales.[2] Hereford has been recognised as a city since time immemorial, with the status being reconfirmed as recently as October 2000.[3][4]
It is now known chiefly as a trading centre for a wider agricultural and rural area. Products from Hereford include: cider, beer, leather goods, nickel alloys, poultry, chemicals, and cattle, including the famous Hereford breed.

Christmas at Holme Lacy & Hereford
Spending time at Holme Lacy House in Herefordshire, Grabbing a great deal on a break, just before the busy Xmas week. The Mansion of Holme Lacy built by the 2nd Viscount Scudamore remained, renovated in 1828-31 and again in the early 20th century, the family seat of the Earls of Chesterfield until 1902, when the contents were sold. In 1909 the house was sold to Sir Robert Lucas-Tooth, an Australian brewing millionaire. He sold it in 1924 to Noel Wills, on whose death in 1929 his widow donated it to Herefordshire County Council. For some years it was used as a training college and psychiatric hospital. Several owners later it was leased to the Warner Leisure Hotels group. perfect for a relaxing few days running up to Christmas.

The team investigated the Starting Gate in Hereford on the 7th August 2011, medium was Jackie Mecke and we were also joined by the pub owners, bar staff and public members .Nothing out of the ordinary occured unfortunately.

There's a Brewery next to The Station
From an ancient book I took a clue, well actually Retired Martin's Blog. Not one but two stops up from Hereford is Ludlow. The first thing you see at Ludlow Station is Aldi and then Ludlow Brewery. A very welcome surprise. 2 traditional pubs and yes Micro Pubs are nearly always closed, Hereford Beer House excepted. Summer weather.

Blu Rickford Tribute
Blu Rickford was a British country music award winner. He was a 'good old boy' from Leominster in Herefordshire. At his best he was a great performer but ill health helped on by drink and prescription drugs ovecame him in the end. He was a good friend to a lot of people in the area and his house was always full of visitors. He was a ladies man and a mans man with a great sense of humour and is still missed by many. I am fortunate to have the master tape for his debut album ,even though the sound quality is not so good in a couple of places it is still the raw sound of country music played live.

Britain's Largest Abandoned Brewery... MOLSON COORS!
► THE EXPLORE: So this brewery is a massive place, and I will say right of the bat, we did not get chance to see all of it. Colin had limited time before he had to start work, so we had to stop prematurely. We had hoped to go back and then mash the two trips into one video, however due to a lot of other explorers going there, this did not happen as the site now has security again and has been sealed. But if we can go back again... we will. For now, I hope you enjoy the video and what we got to see on this visit.
► SITE HISTORY: In recent years, the brewery had been reliant on brewing Heineken, which made up around 75 per cent of the total town brewery production. In 2014, Heineken announced that it would not be renewing the contract and, as a result, Molson Coors embarked on a review of its UK brewery network. That resulted in the brewery’s closure in May 2015 to end 52 years of brewing on the site, and the loss of 108 jobs.
