Pontoon Boat out in the Gulf! Panama City Beach FL - St Andrews State Park - Shell Island
We brought our pontoon boat with us to Panama City Beach Florida! Navigating the Ocean is not really recommended but we did it anyway....well sorta! Even on calm days cruising the shore line is rough. The rolling 2 to 3 foot waves might not seem like much but it really tosses a pontoon boat around, I could not imagine hitting waves any bigger than what we experienced. Hey guys! Today's video is a bit emotional because as you guys know, Hurricane Michael hit Panama City Beach, FL earlier this month and it was devastating. My husband's family lives in Panama City Beach, so this past summer we took Riley to visit the area for the first time and we had an amazing few days relaxing on the beach and hanging out with family. Joe's family was super lucky given that their homes were okay after the storm, but we had some friends who didn't fare as well. We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this super stressful time, and we hope that the city and the surrounding areas can rebuild quickly. Panama City Beach is a GORGEOUS place and it definitely relies on tourism to keep businesses afloat, so I wanted to share our vacation vlog to show you how much fun we had when we visited this past July. Shell Island Panama City Beach | Travel Vlog Day 3 | Nepali Brewboy
Shell Island Panama City Beach is an approximately 7-mile long undeveloped barrier island running east to west between the Gulf of Mexico and the St. Andrew Bay. Here you'll find Florida at its most natural, where graceful sand dunes, coastal scrub forest, pine hammocks, and an inland lake provide the perfect home for deer, nesting shorebirds, and all manner of coastal creatures, including ghost crabs and endangered species such as Choctawhatchee Beach Mice, piping plovers, snowy plovers, and loggerhead and green sea turtles.
In its history, Shell Island Panama City Beach has seen Native American settlement, the arrival of Spanish explorers, and even pirates! More modern efforts at development have usually been quickly undone by hurricanes, including a zoo that was once located in what is now state park owned land.
Getting to Shell Island Panama City Beach : There are numerous tour boats that take passengers to Shell Island, including a Shell Island Panama City Beach Shuttle that runs the short distance between mainland St. Andrews State Park and the island and PCB Shell Island Express Ferry from Capt. Anderson's Marina. During peak summer season shuttles run 7 days a week. Off season schedules vary, so be sure to call ahead and check. Again, keep in mind that there are no restroom facilities, concession stands, trash receptacles, picnic tables or shade pavilions on Shell Island Beach , so take everything you need, and plan on taking it all back with you as well!

Sailboats WRECKED by Hurricane Michael in Panama City Marinas
Category 4, 155 mph, Hurricane Micheal made landfall on October 10, 2018, in Mexico Beach, Florida. It devastated the marinas, boats, and sailboats in Panama City, Florida. You'll see the rescue of the crew of the sailing vessel Old School abandoned in 8-foot seas near Boca Grande, Florida, as the yacht was experiencing the outer bands of a major hurricane.
