Nixon Beach Sandbar Party, Miami Florida
Nixon purchased the first of his three waterfront homes, 500 Bay Lane, during 1969 from his former Senate colleague George Smathers of Florida. Nixon visited it at least 50 times while in office as President from 1969 to 1974.
Nixon's compound was close to the home of Charles Bebe Rebozo who resided at 490 Bay Lane and of industrialist Robert Abplanalp (inventor of the modern aerosol spray can valve). Bebe Rebozo, president/owner of the Key Biscayne Bank, was indicted for money-laundering a $100,000 donation from Howard Hughes to the Nixon election campaign.
According to an exposé by Don Fulsom, Nixon and Rebozo got bargain real estate prices from Donald Berg, a Mafia-associated Rebozo business partner. The Secret Service eventually advised Nixon to stop associating with Berg. The lender for one of Nixon's properties was Arthur Desser, who consorted with both Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa and mobster Meyer Lansky. Nixon and Rebozo were friends of [James V. Crosby], the chairman of a company repeatedly associated with major mobsters, and Rebozo's Key Biscayne Bank was a suspected pipeline for Mafia money from Crosby's casino in The Bahamas. By the 1960s, FBI agents monitoring the Mafia had identified Rebozo as a non-member associate of organized crime figures.
President John F. Kennedy and Nixon met for the first time after the 1960 presidential election in an oceanfront villa at the old Key Biscayne Hotel. As the Watergate scandal developed, Nixon spent more time in seclusion there.
The United States Department of Defense spent $400,000 constructing a helicopter landing pad in Biscayne Bay adjacent to the Nixon compound. When Nixon sold his property, including the helicopter pad, there were public accusations that he enriched himself at taxpayer expense.
Scarface, the 1983 gangster movie starring Al Pacino, was filmed there.[1]
The original building was razed during July 2004 by owner Edgardo Defortuna, president of Fortune International Realty.[2]

Kennedy Space Centre - Cape Canaveral, Florida
The John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC) is the NASA installation that has been the launch site for every United States human space flight since 1968. Although such flights are currently on hiatus, KSC continues to manage and operate unmanned rocket launch facilities for America's civilian space program from three pads at the adjoining Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. Its iconic Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) is the fourth-largest structure in the world by volume[2] and was the largest when completed in 1965.[3]
Located on Merritt Island, Florida, the center is north-northwest of Cape Canaveral on the Atlantic Ocean, midway between Miami and Jacksonville on Florida's Space Coast. It is 34 miles (55 km) long and roughly 6 miles (10 km) wide, covering 219 square miles (570 km2). A total of 13,100 people worked at the center as of 2011. Approximately 2,100 are employees of the federal government; the rest are contractors.[4]

My Haunted Diary episode with paranormal explorer James Edward Garcia in downtown Miami, Florida, Little Havana area.
James investigates the over a century old Miami River Inn, now called the Miami River Hotel that has been documented to be haunted by many Paranormal News Reports and listed in some of the major haunted database listings. Building or Cottage D is known for being the most haunted at the location. At 11PM every night noises come from the 3rd floor where there are no guest rooms other than storage. Apparition has been seen on a chair up there as well as peering out a window. There is the story of a man who molested, killed and buried a little girl out back under the bridge when the cottage was used as a residence. Room 12 is considered the most haunted room and guests have left in the middle of the night from fright while staying in that room.
Famous people such as Winston Churchill, Henry Flagler, Presidents: Teddy Roosevelt, John or Robert Kennedy have stayed in the Cottage/Building A which has been used as an Inn from the turn of the last century.
Interviews with employees of the Miami River Hotel tell the stories they have experienced first hand and that others have witnessed.
This is the first complete paranormal investigation ever conducted at the Miami River Hotel.
Shadow like apparitions, poltergeist activity, EVP’s and disembodied voices, sexual encounter with a spirit make for an exciting (almost 2 hour long) episode.

The homeless in downtown Miami want more public restrooms
As the homeless population in downtown Miami has increased, so has the human waste problem. Along Flagler and surrounding streets and sidewalks, you will find feces and urine. People say the city should install more public bathrooms.

Hi! My name is Donna Eacho, and I would like to tell you about my home state of
Florida—the Sunshine State!
Florida was the first part of the continental United States to be visited by Europeans, when the Spanish explorer, Ponce de Leon, arrived in 1513. He claimed the land for Spain and named it la Florida meaning land of flowers. In 1565, the Spanish founded the settlement of St. Augustine, the oldest permanent European settlement
in the United States. Florida became the 27th state of the union in 1845.
By 1900, Florida had a population of only half a million people, but a land rush in the 1920's --when my grandparents moved to the state—began an era of growth. Now,
Florida is the fourth most populated state in the country, with 19 million people.
Most of Florida is a peninsula situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico with its highest point being only 100 meters above sea level. We enjoy a sub‐tropical climate and almost 2000 kilometers of beaches. Historically, the Florida economy was based on agriculture, and Florida still produces the majority of the citrus, sweet corn and green beans in the country. Now the number one industry is tourism. People from all over the world flock to our beaches and amusement parks, especially to Walt Disney World. Located near Orlando, in central Florida, Disney World is the world's most visited entertainment resort with over 17 million visitors per year. Florida's amusement parks have certainly changed since my childhood!
Florida is also home to the Kennedy Space Center, the launch site for every United

While the capital of Florida is Tallahassee, the largest metropolitan area is Miami. In 2008, Forbes magazine ranked Miami America's Cleanest City. Because of its large Hispanic population, Miami is nicknamed the Capital of Latin America. It is the second largest U.S. city with a Spanish‐speaking majority, and a rich cultural history from its large Cuban‐American population. Miami is also the number one cruise passenger port in the world. The trendy South Beach area of Miami is home to the 1940's Art Deco Historic District with over 800 historic buildings from the 1920's-1940s.
One of the most fascinating parts of the state is the Everglades, the largest subtropical wilderness in the United States. The Everglades boasts many rare and endangered species. It has been designated a World Heritage Site and International Biosphere Reserve.
Florida is also home to the beautiful coral archipelago called the Florida Keys. Key West, the southernmost point in the continental United States, was the site of President Harry Truman's winter White House. It is also where authors Ernest Hemmingway and Tennessee Williams wrote some of their most famous works.
I hope you have enjoyed learning a little about my beautiful home state of Florida and that you will someday enjoy a sun filled holiday there.

Took a summer holiday to Florida in the summer of 2017. Visited all the go-to places, Kennedy Space Centre, Universal Studios, Disney, took a drive down to Miami and Clear Water Beach too.

Hey guys! This is our vacation to Florida. We stayed at the ClubMed in Sandpiper bay. Everything was awesome! Really good vacation. All the food was included in ClubMed so that was really nice. We visited the Everglades National Park and even though the government is shutdown the park is open thanks to the volunteers. We also went to Kennedy Space Center that was an amazing experience. We also visited Miami for a few hours after the Everglades park. Overall a great vacation.

While there had been earlier schemes to develop a town on Key Biscayne, it wasn't until the opening of the four-mile (6 km) long Rickenbacker Causeway from Miami to Virginia Key and on to Key Biscayne in 1947 that the island was opened up to large scale residential development. The northern two-thirds of the island had been operated as the largest coconut plantation in the continental United States during the first half of the 20th century. In 1940 the Matheson family donated over 800 acres (3.2 km2) of their land to Dade County for a public park (Crandon Park) in exchange for a commitment that the county would build a causeway to the island. The remaining Matheson property, stretching across the middle of the island, was then sold off to developers. Starting in 1951, the Mackle Construction Company offered new homes on the island for US$9,540, with just US$500 down. A U.S. Post Office contract branch was opened, the Community Church started holding services in an old coconut-husking shed, and the Key Biscayne Elementary School opened in 1952.
The southern third of Key Biscayne, which included Cape Florida, was owned by James Deering and, after his death, by his brother Charles, for 35 years. In 1948 José Manuel Áleman, a Cuban politician in exile, bought the Cape Florida property from the Deering estate. After Áleman died in 1951, his widow, Elena Santeiro Garcia, added to her Cape Florida property by buying an ocean-to-bay strip that had been part of the Matheson property. This strip included a canal that had been dug by William Matheson in the 1920s, and which extended from the bay across most of the island. The land north of this canal was developed as part of what is now the Village of Key Biscayne. Garcia sold the Cape Florida property in 1966 to the state of Florida. This land became Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, which opened January 1, 1967.

The area was incorporated as a new municipality in 1991 - the first new city in Miami-Dade County in over fifty years. Rafael Conte was elected the first mayor along with members of the founding Village Council including Clifford Brody, Mortimer Fried, Michael Hill, Luis Lauredo, Joe Rasco, and Raymond Sullivan. The municipality's first manager was C. Samuel Kissinger and the first clerk was Guido Inguanzo. The incorporation of the Village provided local control over taxes and future development.
In 1992, Hurricane Andrew flooded some homes and businesses on Key Biscayne but the eye wall passed over uninhabited Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park which received the brunt of the storm. The storm damage was a blessing for the park because it destroyed all the non-native vegetation that the state had been trying to eradicate. Federal and State funding allowed the replanting with native vegetation making the park a showplace natural area. In recent years, the construction of several large resort hotels, condominium complexes and shopping centers on the island has affected the once bucolic island life, as commercialism has continued to accelerate at a frenetic pace. The Village has its own fire, police and public elementary and middle school. The millage tax rate remains one of the lowest of any municipality in Miami-Dade County. In 2004, the Village completed the construction of a civic center including fire, police and administration buildings and a recreation and community center with indoor multi use courts, outdoor swimming pool and a renowned musical theater program.

Orlando is a city in the U.S. state of Florida and the county seat of Orange County. Located in Central Florida, it is the center of the Orlando metropolitan area, which had a population of 2,387,138, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures released in March 2016. These figures make it the 24th-largest metropolitan area in the United States, the sixth-largest metropolitan area in the Southern United States, and the third-largest metropolitan area in Florida.
