'Lovelocks' collapse Paris bridge rail - BBC News

Part of the parapet of the world famous Pont Des Arts bridge in Paris has collapsed under the weight of the growing number of locks that had been attached. Couples write their initials on the so-called 'lovelocks', and attach them to the bridge as a sign of their love.

I was interviewing people in the crowd at the monthly Apres-Midi put on by Adrian Leeds when Martha from Tennessee took the hot seat.

Key moments from protests in Paris
(8 Dec 2018) French riot police fired tear gas and water cannons in Paris on Saturday, trying to stop thousands of yellow-vested protesters from converging on the presidential palace to express their anger at high taxes and French President Emmanuel Macron.
Security officials imposed a lockdown on parts of central Paris, determined to prevent a repeat of the rioting a week ago that damaged a major monument, injured 130 people and tarnished the country's global image.
France's interior minister Christophe Castaner on Saturday said the protest violence the capital was under control despite scattered tensions but called it totally unacceptable.
He added exceptional security measures allowed nearly police to put nearly 1,000 people in custody.
Associated Press reporters witnessed multiple protesters hurt in clashes with police.
An AP video journalist was wounded in the leg as police fired tear gas and rubber bullets on the Champs-Elysees.

Best sights in Paris France (WARNING THIS IS HARD)
Best places to visit in Paris France. Our Paris exploration is continued in this vlog. Exploring the Eiffel Tower and the Arc De Triomphe. Fromage tasting, (cheese tasting) and the best Macarons in Paris. We packed a lot into Day 4 and it was worth it. The Eiffel Tower is beautiful. We did not go up inside. Told by many to skip this and opt for another view which you will see in the next vlog. We did however climb the 284 stairs to the top of the Arc De Triomphe. That view was epic, but I will tell you now, that climb is not for the weak of heart. That was torture. We ate the best macarons in Paris and shared our reactions and thoughts. We even went to a local Fromagerie and went home to do our own cheese tasting. Please watch and enjoy!

Must see places in Paris France. We are still exploring the streets of Paris, France and visit one of the most iconic places, Notre Dame. We of course hit up a couple of brasseries and had plenty of coffee, and then it was on to the creperies to have the thing I had most looked forward to. To say they were phenomenal was an understatement. I have made many a crepe, but never like these. We found the area once known as the lock bridge, which has since been removed, but there are always options, right. What else was missing? That’s right, CHOCOLATE. We found and explored the Chocolate Museum and had more than our fill! Please watch and enjoy!
