Places to see in ( Milan - Italy ) La Triennale di Milano
La Triennale di Milano is a design and art museum in the Parco Sempione in Milan, in Lombardy in northern Italy. It is housed in the Palazzo dell'Arte, which was designed by Giovanni Muzio and built between 1931 and 1933; construction was financed by Antonio Bernocchi and his brothers Andrea and Michele.
The Milan Triennial, an international exhibition of art and design, was held at the museum thirteen times between 1936 and 1996, and – after a break of twenty years – again in 2016. A permanent museum of Italian design, the Trienniale Design Museum, was opened in 2007.
The Palazzo dell’Arte, home of Milan’s Triennale, is situated among the greenery of the southwest part of the Parco Sempione. After the Sforzesco Castle, the civic Arena and the Arch of Peace, this building completed the circle of monuments around the old parade grounds, proclaimed a public park towards the close of the nineteenth century.
Inaugurated in Monza in 1923 with a two-year cadence, the Esposizione Internazionale delle Arti Decorative e Industriali e dell'Architettura Moderna (International Exhibition of Decorative and Industrial Arts and Modern Architecture) became triennial in 1930 and three years later moved to its new home in Milan to celebrate its fifth edition. Construction of Milan’s Palazzo dell’Arte was made possible by the Foundation created with the generous bequest of Antonio Bernocchi, Senator and industrialist of Milan who died in 1930, whose name still today stands proudly over the main entrance. Design of the building was entrusted to architect Giovanni Muzio, and the City of Milan made the area in the park available. Construction was started in the fall of 1931 and the work was completed in the spring of 1933.

La Triennale di Milano - 1923-2016
La Triennale di Milano is an international cultural institution which organises exhibitions and conferences as well as hosting arts, design, architecture, fashion, cinema, communications and social events.
It organizes cutting hedge, high profile exhibitions dedicated to contemporary art and social issues, with nationally and internationally renowned architects and designers, and top stylists who have influenced tastes and customs.
It is also a museum which researches, studies and represents Italian design from all different points of view; the Triennale Design Museum is an ever changing museum, attentive to the history of design and to the entire design system (businesses, manufacturing districts, the region where it operates, research, publishing and education).
It is also a laboratory of ideas, addressing not only its followers, students and professionals, but also the audiences of the future, children and young adults, with experimental and interactive activities dedicated to the culture of design.
It is also the Teatro dell’Arte (Art Theatre), amongst the most significant theatres on the Milan scene, recently annexed to the Triennale again, and a new benchmark for cultural projects and performing arts.
It is also the Palazzo dell’Arte (Art Palace) in the centre of Milan, within Parco Sempione, one of the city’s historical parks, designed to be flexible and adaptable to the needs of any particular performance or exhibition.

BROKEN NATURE: DESIGN TAKES ON HUMAN SURVIVAL
MARCH 1 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2019
Broken Nature is an in-depth exploration of the strands that
connect humans to the natural environment that have been intensely
compromised, if not entirely severed, over the years.
By casting a wide net on architecture and design projects, the exhibition
underlines the concept of restorative design, highlighting objects and
concepts at all scales that reconsider human beings’ relationship with
their environments—including both natural and social ecosystems.
“Broken Nature invites a deeper understanding of the complex and
interconnected, multispecies systems we inhabit,” says Paola Antonelli.
“It facilitates a perception of long time, beyond the lifespan of a few
generations; and it offers visitors a clear idea of practical steps that can
be taken toward a restorative attitude. The XXII Triennale di Milano
celebrates the revolutionary power of imagination and ingenuity.”
