Street food in Italy | SICILY FOOD
We're in Palermo, Sicily! In this 3 part series we're hunting down the best Sicilian food and Sicilian street food. Palermo has a thriving food culture that's big on offal and punchy, bold flavours.
This is our third video from Palermo and it's all about the best local Sicilian food- we eat a street food favourite- arancine a deep fried rice ball stuffed with ragu from a local's favourite before we devour a traditional Sicilian lunch at Trattoria da Pino- a family run restaurant specialising in Sicilian classics from caponata, pasta con le sarde (sardine pasta) and seafood. We cap the day off with granita at the best granita cafe in Palermo owned by a friendly Sicilian gentleman called Pino.

Tarantella o Cafe' Suonatori Mediterranei Taormina
Una Tarantella di Domenico Modugno O Cafe' suonata dai Suonatori Mediterranei con Giuseppe alla Voce e alla Chitarra con Gianni al Mandolino con Paolo alla Fisarmonica e Carmelo al Tamburello
Taormina, Sicily 2010.mp4
Quaint, ancient, scenic, friendly, and secret. Secret? Yes, Taormina, it would seem, is the best kept secret in Sicily. Okay, it is kind of inaccessible. How many other towns in the world do you visit via elevator--eight stories up a little mountain from an enormous bus garage carved out of the side of that little mountain. The Taormina highway, with its 28 tunnels, is, itself, something of an engineering marvel. Thats the way the tourists come. Taormina is a tourist town with a view of the Mediterranean to die for.. It has been ever since the Greeks discovered the place over two thousand years ago. Sidewalk cafes, gelatica on every street corner, book stalls, street artists, botiques, souvenier shops, haut couture, museums, and of course the obligatory Grecco-Roman theater ruins. Toss in some ancient walls, a few too many churches, Medieval gates, a fountain (you can actually drink from this one), broad piazzas, broad pizzas...you name it, Taomina has all the tourist traits while not appearing particularly touristy. Okay, you might not want to LIVE there but, as they say, it's a great place to visit.

Places to see in ( Taormina - Italy ) Piazza IX Aprile
Places to see in ( Taormina - Italy ) Piazza IX Aprile
Piazza IX Aprile is located right in the center of Corso Umberto. The square is known for the breathtaking view of the azure Ionian Sea and of the Mount Etna. Lined with pricey cafés and brimming with visitors and caricature artists, it's the best place to sit back with a cappuccino and enjoy the relaxed resorty ambience of Taormina.
The square was named after the 9th of April, 1860, when mass in the Taormina cathedral down the street was interrupted to announce that Garibaldi had landed at Marsala (on the far side of the island) to begin his conquest of Sicily that made it part of Italy
Actually, the news proves false. In fact Garibaldi landed at Marsala exactly one month later, on 9 May 1860. However, the inhabitants of Taormina wanted to recall that date dedicating the most beautiful square.
( Taormina - Italy ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting Taormina . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Taormina - Italy
