(Epic Motor) Rare Long Hydraulic Elevator @ The Kemper Art Museum - St. Louis, MO
(10-13-19) This art museum is located on Washington University's campus in St. Louis. At first, this elevator just looks like a typical generic, but looking closer, you see it is a LONG elevator! I have never seen Long use innovation before, and this could have been one of the last installs Long did before being bought out by Kone. The motor on this thing is a beast!

Chapter 6: Charles Parsons and the St. Louis Art Museum
Excerpt from chapter 6 of The Life and Times of Missouri's Charles Parsons: Between Art and War by John Launius. Available February 2020. Instagram: Parsons_Book Facebook: @parsonsbook
Book Synopsis:
This book details the life and times of Charles Parsons, one of St. Louis’s and the nation’s most influential yet little-known figures. As a U. S. Civil War quartermaster and advisor to generals, politicians, and presidents alike, he was instrumental to the Union cause. As a world-traveling art connoisseur, he helped found the first art museum west of the Mississippi and donated his remarkable collection of American and European paintings and Japanese and Chinese art. And to this day, his philanthropic work and dedication to education live on in some of the country’s grandest institutions. From his business failures in a riverside boomtown to his rise to national renown, this book tells his full story for the first time, with the attention and spirit the subject is due.

AI WEIWEI: BARE LIFE | Washington University
“I’m not a person who has a clear plan,” Ai Weiwei said. And yet, he observed, flowing “like a leaf on the river” can lead to unexpected destinations.
In this video, the acclaimed dissident artist ruminates about his life, his approach to art-making and his new exhibition at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis. “Ai Weiwei: Bare Life”collects dozens of artworks created over the last two decades, including several never before exhibited in the United States, as well as “Bombs” (2019), a monumental new wallpaper created for the museum’s Saligman Family Atrium.
“Ai Weiwei: Bare Life” remains on view at the Kemper Art Museum through Jan. 5, 2020. An exhibition catalog, which includes an extensive interview with Sabine Eckmann, the museum’s William T. Kemper director and chief curator, is distributed by the University of Chicago Press.
