English:
Mount Evans is the highest summit of the Chicago Peaks in the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains of North America. The prominent 14,271-foot (4350 m) fourteener is located in the Mount Evans Wilderness, 13.4 miles (21.6 km) southwest by south (bearing 214°) of the City of Idaho Springs in Clear Creek County, Colorado, United States, on the drainage divide between Arapaho National Forest and Pike National Forest.
The peak is one of the characteristic Front Range peaks, dominating the western skyline of the Great Plains along with Pikes Peak, Longs Peak, and nearby Mount Bierstadt. Mount Evans can be seen from over 100 miles away to the east, and many miles in other directions. Mount Evans dominates the Denver Metropolitan Area skyline, rising over 9,000 feet (2,700 m) above the area. Mount Evans can be seen from points south of Castle Rock, up to (65 miles (105 km) south) and as far north as Fort Collins (95 miles (153 km) north), and from areas near Limon (105 miles (169 km) east). In the early days of Colorado tourism, Mount Evans and Denver were often in competition with Pikes Peak and Colorado Springs.
Echo Lake Park is a park located along the Mount Evans Scenic Byway about 33.5 mi (54 km) west of Denver, Colorado. The park provides a stone shelter with picnic tables and barbecue grills on one end of the lake, and the 1926 Echo Lake Lodge (gift shop and restaurant service only) and an Arapaho National Forest campground are found at the other. Access to backpacking trails, including the Chicago Lakes trail and Lincoln Lakes trail, can be found adjacent to the lake. The park is part of the Denver Mountain Parks system.

Glenwood Springs | Idaho Springs | Georgetown Loop Railroad
Glenwood Springs | Idaho Springs | Georgetown Loop Railroad
Glenwood Springs, a city with a total area of less than 5 square miles, is a further 2 hours east towards Denver along the I-70 and about 150 miles west of Denver.
Three and a half million gallons a day at a constant temperature of 120 degrees pour from the natural hot springs which are the largest natural hot springs in the world.
The hot spring pools are the big attraction here, one measuring 400 feet by 100 feet with water of 90 degrees, and a smaller therapy pool with water of 104 degrees.
The Iron Mountain Tramway carries visitors up the mountain for a tour of the caverns, hike along the half mile long Panoramic Trail for fantastic views over the Rockies and the Colorado River, pan for gemstones at Discovery Rock or try horse riding on a one hour trail through roaring Fork Valley.
The Colorado Wranglers offer a family friendly show, which include a chuck wagon supper and a western musical comedy show at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park in Glenwood Springs.
White water rafting and fly fishing are just two of the many activities on offer in Glenwood Springs.
Georgetown Loop Railroad is still further east past the ski resorts of Vail and Aspen, and offers tourists a scenic and historic train ride around the mountains. Steam driven engines and old fashioned carriages add to the thrill.
The beauty of the rugged Rocky Mountains surrounds you as an old-time steam locomotive or a powerful diesel locomotives winds up the Clear Creek canyon, hauling your train past the remains of several gold and silver mines. Both fully enclosed and open cars give a breath taking view of everything along the line.
Board from the Silver Plume Depot or Devils Gate Station in Georgetown.
There is a full program of activities to choose from throughout the year, such as 4th July Fireworks train, Moonlight in the mountains Dinner Train, Wine Tasting Train, Pumpkin Festival Train and Santas Polar Adventure Trains.
There is a lovely tourist information store in Georgetown.
Idaho Springs is the birthplace of the Rocky Mountain gold rush 33 miles west of Denver, visit the gold mine to pan for gold and visit the gold-mining museum.
In nearby Miner Street, walk along the wooden sidewalks and visit the quaint shops for souvenirs, see the preserved steam train with carriages, or cross under the I-70 to visit the large waterwheel with tumbling cataracts.
South of town, drive the highest paved road in North America and head to the top of Mount Evans, one of Colorado's tallest mountains. The road starts off at 8,700 feet, rising to 14,240 feet at the summit. The temperature cools accordingly, if its 90 in Denver it will be more like 40 degrees at the top of Mount Evans.
Idaho Springs is also near Golden Gate State Park with stunning views of the continental divide, and within an hour's drive of six of the state's most famous ski resorts.
Dozens of other recreation spots are also near these 12,000 acres of dense forest, rocky peaks, and aspen-rimmed meadows laced with miles of trails awaiting the hiker, horseback rider, mountain biker and winter sports enthusiast.
Camp with electrical hook-ups and tent-sites in two different campgrounds, stocked fishing ponds, picnic sites and the Panorama Point Scenic Overlook where visitors can see 100 miles of the Continental Divide. In winter, visitors can go cross-county skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, ice fishing and ice skating.

Idaho Springs Camping Trip Oct. 2016
Chicago Lakes Hike - Mt. Evans Wilderness Area
This is a popular hike where you'll see lakes, wildflowers, rushing streams and vistas galore. Start at Echo Lake in the Mount Evans Wilderness Area. A downhill rocky trek to a dirt road goes to Idaho Springs Reservoir. Beyond that, you'll see the CL trail sign with directions. If you go to the upper lake, the round trip is over 10 miles. Save some of your energy bar for powering uphill on the final assault uphill climb back to Echo Lake. This strenuous hike is well worth the effort--a favorite summer and fall hike in late Sept. when the colors peak.

Let's Hike: Goldengate Canyon State Park, Colorado - Blackbear Trail
I took a hike up around Goldengate Canyon State Park, and decided to film some of it and just tinker around with making a video out of it.

Cripple Creek Mountain Estates
A Google Earth Pro tour of Cripple Creek Mountain Estates, a paradise named by 2009 Money Magazine as one of the best places in the US to buy a vacation home. Cripple Creek Mountain Estates is located between 8700 and 9800 feet elevation near Cripple Creek, about an hour from Colorado Springs.
Genesee Park Colorado- Denver's Parks System
High speed driving through Genesee park area, I finally find the Beaver Brook Trail which runs along the Brook and goes down the side of the mountain to some spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and stream. At Stapleton Mountain Park Nature Trail they have different signs with braille so you can learn information about the different flora and fauna species living in this alpine environment that you are hiking in, even if you can't even see it. I did slip and fall a few times on the slippery ice so I recommend bringing a hiking stick and hiking boots.

Chicago Lakes Trail May 2016 pt1
Part one of my first hammock camping trip of 2016. 10 miles up and back from Echo Lake to the lower Chicago Lake on the Chicago Lakes Trail in the Mt. Evans Wilderness Area; Colorado USA.
It was a little late in the year for snowshoeing but to early for hiking so I did both. Temperatures ranged from clear in the mid 50 degrees F, to snowing and mid 20's.
Learned a lot about myself and more about making videos of my trip. Most likely not going to win any videography awards, but I had a great time.
Comments welcome!
Enjoy
