Live the Life You Choose: Biltmore Park in Asheville, NC
There was a time when towns and villages were planned so that all of life happened within walking distance. Biltmore Park Town Square is an inspired re-invention of this style of living. Learn how you can Live the Life You Choose in Biltmore Park, a planned community in Asheville, NC.

Beverly-Hanks & Associates Real Estate Discovery Center at Biltmore Park:
Welcome to Biltmore Park.
There was a time when towns and villages developed organically so that all of life happened within walking distance. The town square was the center for all activity, whether it be for business, meeting up with friends and neighbors, or running daily errands. Biltmore Park is just that, a modern urban village with everything you need right here: incredible options for housing, shopping, dining, business, and recreation. The Asheville Regional Airport is close by, and the neighborhood is directly adjacent to I-26, making it convenient to both downtown Asheville and Hendersonville.
In addition to the condos and apartments in Town Square, there are 400 acres of single family residences, which over 550 families call home. There are smaller pockets of neighborhoods within that are grouped by similar house styles and price, and all connected by sidewalks, making Biltmore Park a wonderful community to live in. Prices start in the low $300s and go to over $3 million, and an artful blend of architectural styles are seen throughout.
“I think for us and our family, Biltmore Park is just a really easy place to live,” says Laura Carver, homeowner.
Whether you're in the mood for a date night with an elegant table for two or family pizza outing, it's all within Biltmore Park. Running behind with no time to cook dinner? You have tons of fresh, exciting options right here in your own neighborhood.
“Biltmore Park's awesome, what's there not to like?” says John Taylor, owner of O.P. Taylors toy store. “So there's a real feeling, it's just an energy that you get here. The kids are great, they come down to the toy store after school, and they hang out, and we play ping pong together and stuff. Of course there's the movie theater and Barnes and Noble and lots of restaurants and stuff, so it's a whole community. You get that whole feeling of a community.”
Thank you for joining us. For more information on how you can live, work, and play in this incredible neighborhood, stop by our office right in the heart of Biltmore Park Town Square, or go to beverly-hanks.com.

Our Moving Adventure To NC - Ode to DieselDucy
In our efforts to relocate to North Carolina we drove down there in one day. We then rented a U-haul and moved the stuff I had in storage from a previous stay and drove to our new apartment. We moved in our stuff, gave a Lisa hugs and kisses and flew back the next day. In all of this David was thrilled to see that at every step there was an elevator or moving sidewalk. He watches dieselducy's channel all the time and now he has an elevator video too!!
HISTORIC WINTER SNOW Storm DIEGO ASHEVILLE, North Carolina
Asheville, North Carolina was hit hard by the historic WINTER Snow Storm Diego. Snow Storm Diego was a once-in-a-generation event and we are currently still stranded in the storm here in Hendersonville, North Carolina as I upload this vlog.
Asheville is one my favorite cities to visit and I've never experienced the city quite like this before. This large storm has caused several car accidents, blackouts, and closures throughout North Carolina.

South Asheville Business Boom
The south side of Asheville is being transformed by a development boom.
Wild Wing Cafe is putting it's second restaurant at the location of the old boat house on Long Shoals Road. That's just one of many new things on the way. Construction crews are working on a car dealership near Biltmore Baptist Church. Park Ridge Health is building it's state of the art medical center at the site of the old Shoneys near I-26. Next door to that, a Citi Stop is being built complete with a Dunkin' Donuts.
Hendersonville Road is also seeing it's fair share of change. At the beginning of the month, Publix announced it was building a new supermarket at the Kmart shopping center. There are rumors that a Fresh Market will move into the old Harris Teeter location near the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Folks living and working in South Asheville say they are excited about having options. Others feel more development will cause more traffic problems in the area, but like the fact that it will create more jobs.
Wild Wing Cafe say it's looking to hire a 100 full-time and part-time employees. They say folks can start applying at their downtown location between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the weekdays. The restaurant plans to open their South Asheville store by the end of September.

More Storms Damage Madison Co. Roads
Cloudbursts in Madison County Sunday have road crews blocking lanes and re-visiting repairs they made last week. The floods washed out the dirt beneath a section of Walnut Creek Road. It links Marshall to dozens of homes in northwest Madison County. The washout left the pavement dangling in air until this excavator operator punched it out and began using it to shore up the embankment. This work is time-consuming because the excavators must construct a path beneath the road to place boulders and gravel to replace the washout. Crews are using portable stop lights to control traffic on one lane. Drivers are advised to slow down and use caution around the work crews. Crews repaired slides like one that partially blocked Highway 25/70 near Marshall. But it only takes anther downpour in the same spot to bring the crews back. Many of Madison Countys roads follow the creeks and rivers. Theyre at the bottom of the funnel and get the worst treatment during floods. NCDOT engineers met Monday to discuss what to do about a washout on a steep cliff at Guntertown Road. They say the road could remain closed for weeks or months due to a complicated repair required there.Emergency management officials are helping people with washed out bridges, or cars trapped at homes with washed-out driveways.By Sherrill BarberFollow Sherrill on Twitter @SherrillBarber

Beneath The Veneer: Where Are The Black People In Asheville?
Where Are The Black People In Asheville?
Darin Waters, Ph.D. answers the question, Where are the black people in Asheville?
Darin Waters has made regional African-American history a prime subject of his own research, and organized the African-Americans in WNC conference in order to share recent contributions to the historical record by area scholars, alongside the first-person stories of those involved in key events. In an effort to fill the gap in regional history — the missing story of African-Americans in Western North Carolina — the conference seeks to: dismantle the longstanding myth that there was no African-American presence in this region, provide educators with a way to integrate this work into the larger narrative of the region, the state and the nation, and demonstrate to a largely neglected group of the Asheville population that one of the leading institutes of higher education in this region, which UNCA is, takes their presence, their history and their contributions to this region very seriously.

State of the City
Keeping an eye on the past and one on the future. That was the theme of Monday's annual State of Downtown luncheon. The Asheville Downtown Association is focusing their attention on three main issues in 2013.
The president of the non-profit group believes the Business Improvement District will make downtown Asheville clean, green and safe. They're also wanting to re-craft Bele Chere. The Downtown Asheville Association wants the festival to involve more local culture and possibly change its dates. Redeveloping the south slope is another idea. Members say recenlty, there have been a number of business announcements in that particular area. There are some other smaller projects the Downtown Association is working on. For example, the Pack Square Park Canopy Project. They are working to to get a permanent covering over the stage. Also, work is already started on downtown sidewalks to make it easier to walk around.
