Appropriating an Endogenous Ethiopia Art into a contemporary Space - Eyayu Genet Shitu (Ethiopia)
Ethiopian artist works predominantly in the medium of painting but includes Collage and monumental installations. Eyayu completed an MFA with distinction at ASFAD, Addis Ababa University.
He has been Exhibited his works in USA, Sweden, Swetherland, Equador and Uganda. In Ethiopia he has Exhibited his works at major art platforms Including National museum , Alliance Ethio-Francise, Goethe Institute and Gura mayne art Center . He is represented in the collection of Ethiopian national museum.
In his recent themes, he focused on an indigenous African art and aesthetics. He brings an aesthetical (art) practices and objects of his birth place into a contemporary art spaces.
He has been awarded Tana social media award for his contribution in promoting love peace . He is Engaged with a lot of humanitarian and social projects and working to make Bahir Dar city alternative art corner in the country.
ARCHITECT: FASIL GIORGHIS at TEDxAddis
Fasil Giorghis is an Ethiopian architect who is chair holder of conservation of urban and architectural heritage at EiABC, Addis Ababa University. For more than twenty years, he has devoted his time to the study and preservation of the architectural heritage of his country, from traditional housing to historic towns. He has participated in numerous international conferences and contributed articles on sustainable architecture and preservation of cultural heritage. In 2008 he published a book entitled Addis Ababa the City and its Urban and Architectural Heritage from 1886-1941.
His architectural design work in his private consulting firm focuses on regional hotels, public buildings, cultural centers, and private residences, for which he melds use of local material, indigenous knowledge and environmental concerns in contemporary design. Some of the buildings he designed include The Red Terror Memorial Museum, the classrooms and auditorium of Alliance Ethio-Francaise, and the adaptive re-use of the Goethe Institute. As a designer and amateur artist he has also participated in several local and international exhibitions.

The young Ethiopian artist Girmachew Getnet was born in Addis Ababa 1980.
He starts paint already in his very young age, starting with portraits of friends and teachers in the school.
However very soon he realised what was going to be his main interest for a number of years; Girmachew Getnet graduated from Addis Ababa University fine arts school in 2001. After Graduations August ,2001 Foundation of the first Art Studio in Addis Ababa Habesha Art Studio together with four friends
His diverse range of experience and strong contribution to the arts community includes both group and individual exhibitions at the Alliance Françoise, Goethe Institute and International Community School, as well as youth projects with UNICEF and Speak Africa! In addition to regular arts endeavours, he have collaborated with a number of interior design projects and drama set designs, including the Heber Traditional Ethiopian Restaurant and multi media ventures with Zoma Contemporary Art centre.
Artist Girmachew Getnet was invited in 2005, August by Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz to organize the art exhibition wall and Canvas that showed contemporary and traditional wall paintings in Ethiopia.
Artist Girmachew Getnet was the only invited visual Artist by Grassy museum for The Ethiopian millennium celebrations to organizer the art exhibition and gives a His talk. He was also invited by the same museum to give a workshop for children's and adults.
His short experimental Films screened different places including Ok channel in Germany and some film festivals .
Now the artist working his art and making exhibition between Germany and Ethiopia, his works Becoming well known in Germany, Ethiopia and U.S.A.
My Art
Art is the only thing I have ever felt completely confident with. I couldn't imagine my life with out art.
My art is what I do and how I live and how I think. I paint the things what I fell and what I see the things around me, the things I know and fell comfortable with.

Russell Frederick - Street Photographer
Photographer Russell Frederick is best known for his documentation of Bedford-Stuyvesant, a historically black neighborhood in Brooklyn. His work portrays the neighborhood's residents as they face the encroachment of gentrification and captures the sense of an impending exodus. His talk is part of the i3: Images, Ideas, Inspiration lecture series, which features presentations by digital photographers, hardware and software developers and industry experts.
