Stalin museum in Gori, Georgia
Gori is a town in eastern Georgia, with a population of 50,000. It is known as the birthplace of the Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, ballistic missile designer Alexander Nadiradze and philosopher Merab Mamardashvili. The city was occupied by Russian troops during the 2008 Russo–Georgian War. In the town's central square is located the Joseph Stalin Museum dedicated to the life of Joseph Stalin, the controversial leader of the Soviet Union. With the downfall of the Soviet Union the museum was closed in 1989, but reopened as proved a tourist attraction that brings money. In 2010 a banner was placed at the entrance stating: This museum is a falsification of history. It is a typical example of Soviet propaganda and it attempts to legitimize the bloodiest regime in history. However, as of 2017 the banner has been removed. The museum has three sections; Stalin's house, Stalin Museum and Stalin's personal railway carriage.
In the aftermath of the 2008 South Ossetia war, Georgia’s Minister of Culture Nikoloz Vacheishvili announced the Stalin museum would be reorganized into the Museum of Russian Aggression in the nearest future.

3. SOUNDBITE: (Georgian) Maia Pataridze, curator of the exhibition:
Georgia belongs to that small number of countries where minting has a 27 century history. I think that not many countries have that rich history. The first coin in the history of mankind was minted in the 7th century BC. Soon after, in the 6th century at the territory of Colchis (ancient kingdom of ethnic Georgians) money was minted which scientists called 'colchian tetri'. And that is why we are considered the original monetary civilization.
4. Various of early coins
5. Close Colchian tetri (6th - 5th centuries BC)
6. SOUNDBITE: (Georgian) Maia Pataridze, curator of the exhibition:
The main concept of this exhibition is not only to show the evolution of money from value measurement subjects to money minting, but it is very important to show the chronological progression. From the 6th century BC to 1834 we exhibit the uninterrupted history of minting. We show not only local coins but foreign coins too, because otherwise it is impossible to tell the history of Georgia.

We are opening a new hall, it is not very usual for museums to have just a hall for coins, but we have (such a broad) collection that we decided to dedicate a special exhibition to Georgian coins. There are not just Georgian coins, (but also) international. The main idea of this exhibition to show evolution.

Melik-Azariants house (Tbilisi, Georgia) / მელიქ-აზარიანცის სახლი
This part of the avenue still is called formally Zemeli. Zemeli in German means a roll (Semmel). At the same time there was a huge drugstore, which belonged to a German chemist Zemmel. Unfortunately this drugstore does not exist anymore. Melik-Azariants House is located instead. This gigantic, spread into the whole quarter building was owned by a merchant Alexander Melik-Azariants belonging to the top guild. And it still bears the name of its first owner. Even at the beginning of the 20th century there were power and water supply systems, heating system, telephone network, a nursery, a cinema theatre, a photo saloon, Arts Gallery, and a garden with a fountain and exotic plants. Manyentrance construction with its wide windows, bay windows and tower takes up an entire quarter and nowadays it remains the evidence of the construction boom at the beginning of the 20th century. The stone mourning wreaths on its towers remind of a 25 yearold merchant's daughter, who died soon after the completion of the construction works. People say, that the merchants of the whole city came and dropped their jewelry there - for good luck. But the house did not bring happiness to Melik-Azariants - he died in poverty at Soviet times and was buried with his friends' money.
Meidan Bazaar (Tbilisi, Georgia)
French traveler Jean Sharden already mentioned it in the 18th century. According to history, this place has always been a commercial square, although under different names – Shaitan Bazaar, Tatris Moedani, Tsikhis Moedani.
If you want to buy traditional Georgian wine, handmade accessories, souvenirs, delicacies and many other things, there is a unique place for you in the very center of old Tbilisi, Gorgasali street – Meidan Bazaar.
Items made of felt using a traditional Georgian method, candles made of natural wax, clay wine jugs, enamel accessories, churchkhelas and cheese. This is but a fraction of what Meidan Bazaar has to offer.
New Years Celebration at Georgian National Museum

Former National Bank of Georgia (Tbilisi, Georgia) /ეროვნული ბანკის ყოფილი შენობა
From Freedom Square you can go up along Leonidze street where on its right, at the distance of 20-30 meters you can see the building of the former National Bank of Georgia. The buil-ding was erected in 1913 (architect M.Oga-janov). Abbreviated names of the organi-zation - the first owners of that credit de-partment has been preserved - T.O.B.K.- (Tbi-lisi Mutual Credit Society). When Soviet po-wer was established the building was con-fiscated and given to the State Bank. In 1991 after the collapse of the Soviet Union it was partly damaged and then restored. At first it was a twostorey building, in 1959-1960 a third storey was added to it. Its main facade facing the street is in modern style. The facade is decorated with relief ornament and figure compositions. One can see two figures of naked athletes as if rising from the wall surface and over the arc there is a picture altorelievo of a man.
