I am visiting the top 10 tourist sites in Zagreb. So you can see them before you come. = )
From Wikipedia
Dolac (pronounced [dɔ̌lat͡s]) is a farmers' market located in Gornji Grad - Medveščak city district of Zagreb, Croatia. Dolac is the most visited and the best known farmer's market in Zagreb, well known for its combination of traditional open market with stalls and a sheltered market below. It is located only a few dozen meters away from the main city square, Ban Jelačić Square, between the oldest parts of Zagreb, Gradec and Kaptol. The Dolac market Zagreb is centrally located right behind the town’s main square.
The daily market, on a raised square a set of stairs up from Jelačić, has been the city’s major trading place since 1926. Farmers from surrounding villages come to sell their home-made foodstuffs and very fresh fruit and vegetables. In the covered market downstairs are butchers, fishmongers and old ladies selling the local speciality sir i vrhnje (cheese and cream). Flowers and lace are also widely available. Alongside, the renovated fish market, ribarnica, sells fresh produce every day but Monday.[1]

From Wikipedia
Tkalčićeva Street at night
Tkalčićeva Street (Croatian: Tkalčićeva ulica, formally: Ivan Tkalčić Street, Ulica Ivana Tkalčića) is a street in the Zagreb, Croatia city center.[1] Extending from the vicinity of the central Ban Jelačić Square to its northern end at the Little Street (Croatian: Mala ulica), the street flows between the Gornji Grad in the west and Nova Ves in the east. The street is officially within the Gornji Grad - Medveščak city district, constituting the former August Cesarec commune (abolished in 1994). According to the 2001 Croatian census, the street has 1,591 inhabitants.[2]
Centuries before the today's street emerged, the route of Tkalčićeva Street was covered by the Medveščak creek.[3] Medveščak (at that time also called Crikvenik or Cirkvenik) had been the center of Zagreb industry since the early days of the city, spawning numerous watermills. The watermills caused the development of Zagreb industry, leading in turn to the construction of Zagreb's first cloth, soap, paper and liquor factories and, later, animal skin industry.[3] The watermills were often the subject of feuds between the twin cities, Kaptol and Gradec.[4] A 1392 peace treaty forbade construction of new watermills along the shared city border, between today's southern end of Medvedgradska Street and Ban Jelačić Square, leaving only two mills within the city. Both mills were owned by a Cistercian monastery.[4] However, they were both razed during the 1898 covering of the creek.[5]
Street pianist in the Tkalčićeva street.
Although both sides of the creek had been inhabited before, the 1898 covering left a full-scale street, which was aptly named Ulica Potok (English: Creek street).[6] Most of the houses were dated to 18th or 19th century and the street was surfaced with gravel from Sava River excavated in Trnje.[3] Around the middle of the 20th century it was modernized and paved with asphalt. The creek-based industry was quickly transformed into small businesses and stores[3] and the skin industry stopped working in 1938.[citation needed]
According to several records, the transformation of Medveščak creek valley was orchestrated in 1900 by Milan Lenucci, an architect. In 1908, Viktor Kovačić displayed some of his ideas about Ulica Potok in his studies of Gornji Grad, Kaptol and other city neighborhoods. In 1913, Ulica Potok's name is changed to Tkalčićeva Street in honor of the 19th century Zagreb historian Ivan Tkalčić, who was from nearby Nova Ves.[6]
At the turn of the 20th century, prostitution was legal. In Zagreb it was advertised as a tourist attraction and contributed to the city's economy. Tkalčićeva Street was the main centre for brothels. At one stage every other building was a bordello.[7] To open a brothel, the owner had to register at the town hall and received a licence. The licence required the brothel to be well run and provide a quality service. The women working in the brothels had to have a twice weekly medical examination. Brothels were not allowed to advertise their presence, but a discrete, uncommonly coloured lantern was allowed to be placed outside.[8]
The best known brothel, and most expensive, was the Kod Zelene Lampe (Green Lantern’s). The street's brothels continued to operate until WW2.

Eric Clark's Travel Videos - Zagreb Croatia - Main Square - Ban Jelačić 1 of Top 10 Sites
Eric Clark's Travel Videos - Zagreb Croatia - Old Town Main Square - 1 of Top 10 Tourist Sites Ban Jelačić
From wikipedia
Ban Jelačić Square (Croatian: Trg bana Josipa Jelačića or Trg bana Jelačića, pronounced [bâːn jɛ̌lat͡ʃit͡ɕ]) is the central square of the city of Zagreb, Croatia, named after ban Josip Jelačić. The official name is Trg bana Jelačića. The square is colloquially called Jelačić plac.
It is located below Zagreb's old city cores Gradec and Kaptol and directly south of the Dolac Market on the intersection of Ilica from the west, Radićeva Street from the northwest, the small streets Splavnica and Harmica from the north, Bakačeva Street from the northeast, Jurišićeva Street from the east, Praška Street from the southeast and Gajeva Street from the southwest. It is the center of the Zagreb Downtown pedestrian zone.
The square has existed since the 17th century. Its first name was Harmica. The oldest standing building, dating from the 18th century, is situated at 1 Ban Jelačić Square.[1]
In 1848, the square was renamed to its present name.[1] A large statue of ban Josip Jelačić on a horse, created by Austrian sculptor Anton Dominik Fernkorn was installed on 19 October 1866 by Austrian authorities, despite protests from Zagreb councilmen.[citation needed] It also caused unease amongst Hungarians, who see Jelacic as a traitor.
A horsecar line passing through the square's southern side was introduced in 1891. In 1910–11 horses were replaced by electric trams.[1]
In 1946, the square was renamed Trg Republike (Republic Square).[1] Jelačić's statue was removed in 1947 as the new Communist government of Yugoslavia denounced him as a servant of foreign interests.[2] Antun Bauer, a curator of the Gliptoteka gallery, kept it in the gallery cellar.
After World War II, car traffic through the square intensified. In 1975, the square became a car-free zone.[1]
The 1987 Summer Universiade (World University Games) was held in Zagreb. The city used the event to renovate and revitalize the city.[3] The square was repaved with stone blocks and made part of the downtown pedestrian zone. A part of the Medveščak stream, which had been running under the sewers since 1898, was uncovered by workers. This part formed the Manduševac fountain that was also covered in 1898.
On 11 October 1990, during the breakup of Yugoslavia and after 1990 elections in Croatia, and Jelačić's historic role has again been considered positive and the statue was returned to the square but on the north portion facing the south. The name of the square has again been changed to his second name, after Josip Jelačić.
Jelačić Square is the most common meeting place for people in Zagreb. Being a part of the pedestrian zone, it is inaccessible by car, but it is the main hub for trams. ZET tram lines 1, 6, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17 traverse it by day, and 31, 32 and 34 by night.
The present-day square features buildings belonging to different architectural styles ranging from classicism, secession and modernism. Many of them have antique façades which require renovation. This makes them a common target for advertisers, who cover the construction work with large posters.
The square features the Manduševac fountain located in its eastern part. The square is adorned with Christmas trees and lights at Christmas.

People told us Croatian cuisine was amazing and we'd have to hunt out some food very quickly, in particular Strukli while in Zagreb. Our Airbnb host explained about Zagorski Štrukli, which is from/famous in Zagreb, and why the dish should be high on our list of the best food to try in Croatia. Should note, it's proper spelling is Zagorski Štrukli which we struggled a little to pronounce, sorry!
We got a taste for Strukli as well as some local craft beer and coffee that was roasted in the region. Safe to say that every bit of the Croatian cuisine we experienced in this travel vlog was top notch!
So maybe it's true, maybe the food in Croatia is some of the best in the world. Watch the vlog to see what we think on the dishes we try and how we rate our experience in Zagreb hinting out the best we can find.

Planet Hunt Zagreb (Last Day ICPS 2015)
21-08-2015
Summary of the last day I spent in Zagreb with some of the new friends I gathered during ICPS 2015. I made a walk through the city looking for all planets in the solar system, joining Leon and Milja at a certain moment for pluto. I also ran into the Maltese at the airport. Wonderful closing of a wonderful week!
With:
the city of Zagreb,
tiny planets, but on scale,
a lot of walking,
Leon and Milja,
Leon's car (thanks again for the ride),
a long busride to the airport,
a waving Amanda at airport security (who I didn't catch on camera),
the Maltese: Nicholai, Daphne and Kevin,
a rigged game of Uno
and some rakia to end on a high note.
Music: Towers - Elkoe Remix
