Smoke and Roses Charters
Dan and Agnes Long show you the incredible beauty of their 47' Catamaran, Smoke and Roses. Take a private charter with Dan and Agnes today.
She's a spacious 47' Catamaran. We do only private charters, so you're never on a crowded boat. There is no schedule. You get to choose where we go and how long we stay.
We make sail out of Port Charlotte, FL, which is about halfway between Tampa and Naples. We're on Charlotte Harbor which is the second largest harbor in Florida.
One of the cool things about our charters is that within a few hours of sailing the harbor, we reach the inner-coastal waterway. You can anchor off of some of the secluded barrier islands which offer unspoiled beaches, pine forests, and great kayaking.
If you don't want to sail the inner-coastal we can sail into the wide open spaces of the Gulf of Mexico.
The spacious trampoline between the bows is the perfect place to relax or enjoy a good book. The salon has panoramic views and seating for eight. With ceiling fans and portholes for ventilation. Below decks, are four private staterooms with their own bathroom.

Freedom Sailing Trip 1,750km a Typical Sunset Dinner in the Caribbean Seas
This video reflects just one of 28 sunset dinners aboard a 63ft Trimaran SV Freedom during our crossing from St Thomas USVI west to Jacksonville, Florida USA.. A journey that took us over 1,750km and the Typical Sunset Dinners we encountered throughout the Caribbean Seas. In the summer of 2018 just after the Charter Season and the start of hurricane season, my friends Captain Frederick, Captain Barbie and Captain Len asked if I would join their crew to assist them in bringing their 63ft world class trimaran FREEDOM from St Thomas USVI across and through the Caribbean Sea making our way past St Johns, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico just north of Dominican Republic, the Turks, Turks & Caicos, Great Exumas, and the entire Bahamian chain of islands all the way to Jacksonville Florida. Anyone who knows me knew I would jump on board. Though it was not a wine and cheese cruise because major and minor repairs were needed along the way everyday and night. Through our journey we made the most of a work aboard trip every day by sightseeing different islands, diving in some of the best sites over the numerous islands we encountered, meeting the locals, diving blue holes, cliff diving, deep sea fishing and many great meals fit for a king on the high seas. Due to FREEDOM getting slammed by a CAT5 and 10 days later a different CAT 6 hurricane she suffered minor issues common with storms of this size where most boats didn't fare as well. We were bringing her back to the mainland to have service and while underway she was a workshop on the high seas as we repaired and improved many of her components throughout. Prior to and during FREEDOM'S journey some of the repairs were : main sail and mast furler rebuild, wet exhaust dump valve installation, hydraulic steering arm rebuild, battery managements system rebuild, replace all battery bank wires and ends, rear main oil seal on 25kw generator repair, fiberglass reinforcement of stern cleats, fiberglass repair of engine room bulkhead, 24volt inverter / charger installation, dagger boards reworked, NEMA 2000 backbone wiring...GPS systems to installing bow thruster switches and lights, to repairing head issues to rebuilding all her winches (14 total), to putting out all her sails out (3) including a 4th - the spinnaker WOW!! to making up new ropes, new riggings, installing new hardware, to repairing the mast hinge to installing new trucks and truck bearings. All underway. We needed to outrun the expected seasonal hurricanes all while improving her and getting her ready for the next Charter Season which would be in just 3 months back in the British Virgin Islands BVI'and the US Virgin Islands USVI'. Unfortunately for the marine related businesses on the islands most all marine supporting businesses were still unable to work due to the hurricanes destroying their place of business. As a result, it was more effective time wise and more cost effective to bring FREEDOM back to the states for certain items and service of needs. Then quickly return her back 1,500km against the wind and current back to the beautiful waters of USVI & BVI's.
I do not do this professionally as many youtubers. I only for a way for me and my friends to remember our trips together.
Again, many thanks to Captain Frederick, Captain Barbie and Captain Len for allowing me to experience this once in a life time event.

Senators, Governors, Businessmen, Socialist Philosopher (1950s Interviews)
Interviewees:
Joseph McCarthy, American politician who served as a Republican U.S. Senator from the state of Wisconsin from 1947 until his death in 1957
Corliss Lamont, a socialist philosopher, and advocate of various left-wing and civil liberties causes. As a part of his political activities he was the Chairman of National Council of American-Soviet Friendship starting from early 1940s. He was the great-uncle of 2006 Democratic Party nominee for the United States Senate from Connecticut, Ned Lamont.
Fuller Warren, 30th Governor of Florida
T. Lamar Caudle, Assistant Attorney General
Owen Brewster, American politician from Maine. Brewster, a Republican, was solidly conservative. Brewster was a close confidant of Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin and an antagonist of Howard Hughes.
Robert S. Kerr, American businessman from Oklahoma. Kerr formed a petroleum company before turning to politics. He served as the 12th Governor of Oklahoma and was elected three times to the United States Senate. Kerr worked natural resources, and his legacy includes water projects that link the Arkansas River via the Gulf of Mexico.
Lamont was born in Englewood, New Jersey. His father, Thomas W. Lamont, was a Partner and later Chairman at J.P. Morgan & Co.. Lamont graduated as valedictorian of Phillips Exeter Academy in 1920, and magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1924. In 1924 he did graduate work at New College University of Oxford while he resided with Julian Huxley. The next year Lamont matriculated at Columbia University, where he studied under John Dewey. In 1928 he became a philosophy instructor at Columbia and married Margaret Hayes Irish. He received his Ph.D. in philosophy in 1932 from Columbia University.[2] Lamont taught at Columbia, Cornell, Harvard, and the New School for Social Research . In 1962 he married Helen Elizabeth Boyden.[3]
Lamont served as a director of the American Civil Liberties Union from 1932--1954, and chairman until his death, of the National Emergency Civil Liberties Committee, which successfully challenged Senator Joseph McCarthy's senate subcommittee and other government agencies. In the process Lamont was cited for contempt of Congress, but in 1956 an appeals court overturned his indictment. From 1951 until 1958, he was denied a passport by the State Department.
In 1965 he secured a Supreme Court ruling against censorship of incoming mail by the U.S. Postmaster General. In 1973 he discovered through Freedom of Information Act requests that the FBI had been tapping his phone, and scrutinizing his tax returns and cancelled checks for 30 years. His subsequent successful lawsuit set a precedent in upholding citizens' privacy rights. He also filed and won a suit against the Central Intelligence Agency for opening his mail.
Following the deaths of his parents, Lamont became a philanthropist. He funded the collection and preservation of manuscripts of American philosophers, particularly George Santayana. He became a substantial donor to both Harvard and Columbia, endowing the latter's Corliss Lamont Professor of Civil Liberties, currently held by Vincent A. Blasi. During the 1960s he and Margaret had divorced, and he married author Helen Boyden, who died of cancer in 1975. Lamont married Beth Keehner in 1986.
Lamont was president emeritus of the American Humanist Association, and in 1977 was named Humanist of the Year. In 1981, he received the Gandhi Peace Award. In 1998 Lamont received a posthumous Distinguished Humanist Service Award from the International Humanist and Ethical Union.
Still an activist at the age of 88, he protested U.S. involvement in the Persian Gulf War in 1991. He died at home in Ossining, New York.
Auburn Coach Wife Kristi Malzahn Agrees with Match & eHarmony: Men are Jerks
My advice is this: Settle! That's right. Don't worry about passion or intense connection. Don't nix a guy based on his annoying habit of yelling Bravo! in movie theaters. Overlook his halitosis or abysmal sense of aesthetics. Because if you want to have the infrastructure in place to have a family, settling is the way to go. Based on my observations, in fact, settling will probably make you happier in the long run, since many of those who marry with great expectations become more disillusioned with each passing year. (It's hard to maintain that level of zing when the conversation morphs into discussions about who's changing the diapers or balancing the checkbook.)
Obviously, I wasn't always an advocate of settling. In fact, it took not settling to make me realize that settling is the better option, and even though settling is a rampant phenomenon, talking about it in a positive light makes people profoundly uncomfortable. Whenever I make the case for settling, people look at me with creased brows of disapproval or frowns of disappointment, the way a child might look at an older sibling who just informed her that Jerry's Kids aren't going to walk, even if you send them money. It's not only politically incorrect to get behind settling, it's downright un-American. Our culture tells us to keep our eyes on the prize (while our mothers, who know better, tell us not to be so picky), and the theme of holding out for true love (whatever that is—look at the divorce rate) permeates our collective mentality.
Even situation comedies, starting in the 1970s with The Mary Tyler Moore Show and going all the way to Friends, feature endearing single women in the dating trenches, and there's supposed to be something romantic and even heroic about their search for true love. Of course, the crucial difference is that, whereas the earlier series begins after Mary has been jilted by her fiancé, the more modern-day Friends opens as Rachel Green leaves her nice-guy orthodontist fiancé at the altar simply because she isn't feeling it. But either way, in episode after episode, as both women continue to be unlucky in love, settling starts to look pretty darn appealing. Mary is supposed to be contentedly independent and fulfilled by her newsroom family, but in fact her life seems lonely. Are we to assume that at the end of the series, Mary, by then in her late 30s, found her soul mate after the lights in the newsroom went out and her work family was disbanded? If her experience was anything like mine or that of my single friends, it's unlikely.
And while Rachel and her supposed soul mate, Ross, finally get together (for the umpteenth time) in the finale of Friends, do we feel confident that she'll be happier with Ross than she would have been had she settled down with Barry, the orthodontist, 10 years earlier? She and Ross have passion but have never had long-term stability, and the fireworks she experiences with him but not with Barry might actually turn out to be a liability, given how many times their relationship has already gone up in flames. It's equally questionable whether Sex and the City's Carrie Bradshaw, who cheated on her kindhearted and generous boyfriend, Aidan, only to end up with the more exciting but self-absorbed Mr. Big, will be better off in the framework of marriage and family. (Some time after the breakup, when Carrie ran into Aidan on the street, he was carrying his infant in a Baby Björn. Can anyone imagine Mr. Big walking around with a Björn?)
