Trenton: New Jersey State House
The New Jersey State House is located in Trenton and is the capitol building for the U.S. state of New Jersey. Built in 1790, it is the third-oldest state house in continuous legislative use in the United States; only the Maryland State Capitol in Annapolis and the Virginia State Capitol in Richmond are older. The building houses both chambers of the Legislature (the Senate and the General Assembly), as well as offices for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor and several state government departments. The building is the closest capitol building to a state border of any state capitol, with the bridge to Pennsylvania being within walking distance a few blocks away.
After the Legislature relocated to Trenton from Perth Amboy in 1790, it purchased land for £250 and 5 shillings. Construction on the new state house, designed by Philadelphia-based architect Jonathan Doane, began in 1792. The Doane building was covered in stucco, measured 150 by 50 feet (46 m × 15 m) and housed the senate and house chambers in opposite wings. To meet the demands of the growing state, the structure was expanded several times during the 19th century, by noted architects such as John Notman of Philadelphia who created office wing on north side in 1845 and Samuel Sloan, also of Philadelphia who designed new wings to house both legislative chambers in 1871. On March 21, 1885, a large fire destroyed the State Street wing. Lewis Broome, of Jersey City led the reconstruction of the building. He used a rare pigmented brick from the Lippincott Brick Co. of Farmingdale. The brick used was a one-of-a-kind color for the region.
Merchantville architect Arnold Moses reconstructed the Senate wing in the American Renaissance style.
The New Jersey State House attained its current size in 1911 when a four-story office block replaced the original 1792 structure. The only major change since has been modernization of the main corridor in 1950. A 1960 plan, called for the replacement of the oldest sections of the structure with modern legislative chambers, however it was never implemented.
A renovation project began in 1987. The project restored the legislative section of the building and upgraded mechanical and electrical systems in the building. This began an ongoing effort to restore the oldest portions of the building. A complete restoration of the building began in 2017 and is expected to be completed in 2020.
The New Jersey State House is unusual among state capitol buildings in the United States, the majority of which are reminiscent of the US Capitol. The building consists of two parallel structures connected by the dome-capped rotunda, resembling the letter H, with its long arm parallel to State Street. A long portico wing, added by Notman and subsequently enlarged, extends west from the rotunda toward the Delaware River. To this portico, a number of architecturally dissimilar, unusually-shaped structures have been added. These structures have been the subject of subsequent renovations to blend them with the original wing. The State House is set not on a park-like campus, as are many state houses, rather it is integrated into an urban setting along historic State Street and is surrounded by other legislative buildings. The most scenic view of the building is from the west, near the Delaware River, and is the side dominated by the various additions. Viewed from State Street, the dome is scarcely visible and there is little sense of the scale or design of the building. The Governor's office occupies the remaining portion of the original 1792 State House.
Tours are offered daily Monday through Saturday, except state holidays. The tours typically include the Senate and Assembly chambers galleries, party conference rooms, the rotunda and Governor's Office reception room. Middle and high school teachers can receive a grant from the Eagleton Institute to cover the cost of transportation for field trips to take tours of the New Jersey State House.

1940s ATLANTIC CITY NEW JERSEY PROMOTIONAL FILM ON THE BOARDWALK 79624
Made in an era when Atlantic City was one of America's pre-eminent tourist destinations, ON THE BOARDWALK was created and presented by the Convention Bureau of Atlantic City (:10). As the film begins, tourists arrive by Eastern Airlines airplane, train, and by Twin Coach bus. Atlantic City was once no more than a fishing village, yet today is one of the most prominent vacation destinations (:48) and boasted a famed boardwalk lined with seven miles of white sands (:58). Travelers from every state, and some countries, arrived through airlines (1:32) and easily accessible highways (1:39). A varied sort of hotels existed from the more luxurious on the boardwalk (1:59) to the more reasonably priced off (2:25). A wide range of activities exists throughout the city regardless of where one stayed (2:41). The Atlantic City Beach Patrol is shown and it’s well trained lifeguards are attuned to sun bathers as well as swimmers (3:14). The city was considered a hot spot for newlyweds and honeymooners (3:37). It suited the youth as well as older generations (4:05). The boardwalk was designed to have exciting shops lining one side and stunning view of the ocean along the other (5:03). The best way to describe the unique attraction was as a massive cruise deck (5:09). Besides ocean swimming, pools existed as an alternative (5:27). Activities, whether they be strenuous or not were available for all ages (6:15). The nightlife was full of entertainment in forms of restaurants, nightclubs and amusement parks (6:32). At the Convention Center, the Ice Capades show is rehearsed and will travel to cities all over the coast (7:04). Bicycling down the boardwalk (7:35) and horseback riding along the shores are offered to vacationers. In addition, the large public sailing fleet of the inlet enabled visitors to enjoy cruises (8:07). For a more thrilling ride, speedboats were available (8:26). A few miles from the boardwalk, on the Black Horse Pike is the racetrack sponsored by the Atlantic City Racing Association (9:25). The Atlantic City Tuna Club (10:25) was the largest in the world with a membership of 1,400. Fishing in the bay or in the deep sea, could be enjoyed from spring to fall (10:36). Men along the shore enjoy surf fishing (11:56). Heading back to the boardwalk, rides at amusement parks entertained children and parents alike (12:07) at the Steel Pier. At the end of the pier, is an outdoor stadium for the water circus (12:38). Along with everything to do and see, there were ample opportunities for relaxation (13:38). The old Absecon lighthouse had once stood near the beach, yet now rested on land built up from nature over the years (14:18). Another landmark is the Elephant Hotel (14:28) aka Lucy the Elephant. Many visitors became residents in the city's residential neighborhoods (14:37). Several golf courses existed in the mainland year round (15:27). Atlantic City’s Convention Center cost $15 million and was the largest in the world. It hosted the Miss America Pageant (16:05). Mummers are seen parading through the streets (16:05) and the winner of the pagent will be announced in the Convention Center (18:06). This has been a Reid H. Roy Film Industry Production (18:53).

Shops at the Pier Water Show is GONE - Atlantic City, NJ
Shops at the Pier Water Show is GONE - Atlantic City, NJ
The Water Show that one entertained thousands of customers who came to visit the former Shops at the Pier (now Playground) in Atlantic CIty, NJ, has been destroyed and removed from the mall. All that remains now is the water spouts within the ceiling, and the oprah-house-like auditorium seating, which will be saved and converted to some stupid, insignificant project known as 39 N, yet another concert venue that is not needed by Atlantic City.
The Water Show was a 360-degree multi-sensory experience with a dazzling array of stunning water effects, state-of-the-art lighting and sound, and revolutionary technology, including a computerized matrix of 149 independently controlled fountain nozzles.
In addition to hourly pre-programmed shows, the fountain reacts to the arriving audience with lights, water plumes, music, and sound effects, using multiple imaging and sensing technologies to engage them in a series of group interactive games that build anticipation and word-of-mouth for each hourly show.
The show was added to the mall when it reopened as The Shops at the Pier back in 2006; the show alone ran the developer US $7 million from the Thinkwell Group who custom designed and built it for the developer.
BEVERLY HILLBILLIES MANSION SOLD FOR 150$ MILLION
A mansion with a starring role in the classic US sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies has become California's most expensive property after it reportedly sold for around $150 million.
Famous for its appearance in the opening credits of the all-American show, the Chartwell estate is located in the exclusive Los Angeles neighborhood of Bel Air.
The high-end property, which centers on a French neoclassical-style chateau set in 10 acres of land, was bought by Rupert Murdoch's son Lachlan, the Los Angeles Times and The Wall Street Journal reported.
Chartwell features in The Beverly Hillbillies, which ran from 1962 to 1971, as the house inhabited by the hilariously unsophisticated Clampett family, who move to LA after striking it rich.
The sale has beaten the Los Angeles County record of $110 million, set in April 2018 when Peter Morton, the co-founder of the Hard Rock cafe, sold his beachfront home in Malibu.
The luxury Bel Air estate is now the second most expensive home ever sold in the US, surpassed only by a $238 million condominium in New York City bought by billionaire hedge-fund manager Ken Griffin in January.
Since 2016, six homes in LA have sold for $100 million or more, the LA Times reports. Chartwell previously belonged to another media mogul, Andrew Jerrold Perenchio, who died in 2017.
The 25,000-square-foot mansion was designed by Sumner Spaulding in 1930 with a limestone exterior and renovated in the 1980s by French interior designer Henri Samuel, according to the listing on Gitlin Luxury Properties.
It features 18 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, a ballroom and a five-bedroom guesthouse designed by well-known architect Wallace Neff. The mansion has panoramic views over the city and the Pacific Ocean, a 75-foot pool with spacious pool house, a tennis court, car gallery for 40 vehicles, 12,000-bottle wine cellar and manicured gardens with a spectacular fountain.
The Beaux Arts mansion was commissioned by engineer Lynn Atkinson, who filled it with gold and marble, Baccarat chandeliers, a vaulted morning room, walnut paneling and an extravagant copper roof, according to a Los Angeles Magazine article from 2000. Architect Richardson Robertson told the magazine the house just symbolized old Bel-Air.
Atkinson's wife, Berenice, reportedly hated it on sight, asking: Who would ever live in a house like this? It's so grandiose.
It stood empty until Arnold Kirkeby, a hotelier, bought it for $200,000 in 1945. Another media mogul, Andrew Jerrold Perenchio, bought it for £13.5 million in 1987 and enlisted Samuel, who spent five years gutting and restoring the palatial home, adding a parquet de Versaille floor in the garden room.
A secret tunnel runs from the basement of the home to the swimming pool.
The 18th century-style estate was first listed in 2017 for an eye-watering $350 million, according to Forbes, and was the most expensive home on sale in the US.
There are five dwellings on the property, including an acre-sized lot Perenchio bought from the estate of Ronald and Nancy Reagan for $15 million in 2016.
The estate carries one of the highest annual tax bills in the Los Angeles area at $1.3 million, according to an LA Times report from earlier this month.

Wilmington is a port city in North Carolina. It’s known as a gateway to Cape Fear Coast beaches like Wrightsville, with its strong surf, and Carolina, with its long boardwalk. Part of downtown’s Historic District, the Riverwalk is lined with restaurants, galleries and shops. It runs along the Cape Fear River, where the Battleship North Carolina is moored. Artifacts on the ship explore WWII naval combat history.
Wilmington was settled by the English along the Cape Fear River. The city was named after Spencer Compton who was the Earl of Wilmington. Its historic downtown has a 1.75-mile (2.82 km) Riverwalk, developed as a tourist attraction in the late 20th century. In 2014 Wilmington's riverfront was ranked as the Best American Riverfront by readers of USA Today. It is minutes away from nearby beaches. The National Trust for Historic Preservation selected Wilmington as one of its 2008 Dozen Distinctive Destinations. City residents live between the river and the ocean, with four nearby beach communities: Fort Fisher, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, all within half-hour drives from downtown Wilmington.
Wilmington is the home of EUE Screen Gems Studios, the largest domestic television and movie production facility outside California.
