Best Mini Golf in Denver
Adventure Golf & Raceway Westminster, CO 3 Great Mini Golf courses and a great go-kart track..!
Miniature golf, or minigolf, is a miniature version of the sport of golf. While the international sports organization World Minigolf Sport Federation (WMF) prefers to use the name minigolf, the general public in different countries has also many other names for the game: miniature golf, mini-golf, midget golf, goofy golf, shorties, extreme golf, crazy golf, adventure golf, mini-putt and so on. The name Putt-Putt is the trademark of an American company that builds and franchises miniature golf courses and Family Entertainment Centers. The term Minigolf was formerly a registered trademark of a Swedish company that built its own patented type of minigolf courses
Origins
It is a matter of taste which activity one wants to call minigolf rather than golf, but probably the best candidate as the first minigolf course in the world is the Ladies' Putting Club of St. Andrews in Scotland, which was founded in 1867, and still today is operating and open for public. This 18-hole course of putting greens, called the Himalayas, was founded by some members of the notable Royal & Ancient Golf Club in St. Andrews. Women had become interested in golf game, but the conservative social norms of the era deemed it unacceptable for women to publicly perform such violent movements that a golf swing requires. Therefore an 18-hole course of short putting greens was constructed for women -- apparently the first miniature golf course in the world.
A few decades later it became customary for many American and British hotels to offer their guests a miniature-sized golf course, using the same designs as actual golf courses, but at one tenth the scale. The game was played with a golf putter and a short driver, and was called garden golf, pitch and putt golf, clock golf or par 3 golf.
Geometrically-shaped minigolf courses made of artificial materials (carpet) began to emerge during the early 20th century. The earliest documented mention of such a course is in the 8 June 1912 edition of The Illustrated London News, which introduces a minigolf course called Gofstacle.
The first standardized minigolf courses to enter commercial mass-production were the Thistle Dhu (This'll Do) course 1916 in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and the 1927 Tom Thumb patent of Garnet Carter from Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. Thomas McCulloch Fairbairn, a golf fanatic, revolutionized the game in 1922 with his formulation of a suitable artificial green—a mixture of cottonseed hulls, sand, oil, and dye. With this discovery, miniature golf became accessible everywhere; by the late 1920s there were over 150 rooftop courses in New York City alone, and tens of thousands across the United States. This American minigolf boom of early 20th century came to an end during the economic depression in the late 1930s. Nearly all minigolf courses in the United States were closed and demolished before the end of 1930s.A rare surviving example from this period is the Tall Maples Miniature Golf Course located near Rochester, New York, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
The first miniature golf course in Canada was at the Maples Inn in Pointe-Claire, Quebec. The Mapes was constructed as a summer home in the 1890s but was renovated into a club in 1902, opened to the public in 1914, and had a miniature golf course in 1930. The popular nightspot burned in 1985.

Menomonie | S32 Ep.2
In this episode of Discover Wisconsin, hosts Mariah Haberman and Collin Geraghty experience the city of Menomonie during all four seasons. In the summer, Mariah drinks Old Fashioneds on the gorgeous, waterfront deck at Jake's Supper Club before spending a Friday night at Red Cedar Speedway and checking out the Lake Menomin WaterX event. As Fall approaches, the city pops with color and the UW Stout campus bustles with activity as students return for the year. Collin joins a group of these students to go disc golfing on two of Menomonie's beautiful courses. When the temps drop and the snow begins to fall, there's still plenty to keep you busy in Menomonie!
Mariah takes in a show at the historic Mabel Tainter theater, and tries her hand at shooting five stand at Whispering Emerald Ridge Game Farm. In the spring, Collin beholds new life at Govin's Farm as they welcome all kinds of baby animals that visitors can enjoy. We also pop into Zymurgy Brewing Company, to get a taste of Menomonie's craft beer scene, and one of the area's four golf courses. All in all, Menomonie is fun, delicious, exciting, unpredictable, beautiful, and best of all, it's all year long!
Retro Orlando - Xanadu: Home of the Future
The future was here in the 80s! Florida's Xanadu, located in Kissimmee on 192, was actually one of three -- the other two were in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. The Xanadu Houses were a series of experimental homes built to showcase examples of computers and automation in the home in the United States. The Kissimmee Xanadu, designed by Roy Mason, was the most popular, and at its peak was attracting 1000 visitors every day. The Xanadu Houses were notable for being built with polyurethane insulation foam rather than concrete, for easy, fast, and cost-effective construction. Take a look back at Xanadu: Home of the Future!

Golf Carting through the woods
So when I finally got to Dave's house, we went for a ride in his golf cart (I even got to drive it except for the end when we backed it into the garage). His backyard has this really huge trail that takes us through the narrow woods with some trees packed tightly together, over some mud and some steep hills, and alongside a creek. There were some points where we had to switch the cart to 4WD mode or from high to low gear. When we arrived back at the house the first time, we decided to do the trail again, but backwards. Special thanks to Dave for serving as my tour guide/cameraman (he joking said he would send me a bill for controlling my camera). And sorry for the sideways video at the beginning, Dave was recording so that I could focus on driving. Dave also gave me a little something. One of his fishing buddies' dad was an engineer on the Illinois Central, and he had some cool artifacts. These were a bunch of keys (god only knows what they unlocked), a throttle handle (because apparently when engineer leave their locomotives, they take the throttle handle with them so that nobody can break in and drive it away), and a wrench. Then we went to Taco Bell for lunch (but not before dropping by the quarry, and refer to my previous video for more info), then after that, we went home. Hope you enjoy the video.

Al and Gill Proposal
August 19, 2013: Just a normal day, on vacation, so I thought! We were staying at Jellystone in Warrens, WI for the week with some family. This was pretty much our first day there for the week. In the evening, around 8:30pm, they show Yogi Bear cartoons and then a movie. We decided to go watch the cartoons. My dad even went, which I did think was odd but blew it off thinking, It's the first day here and we haven't been to Jellystone in a while. The cartoons just got done and I was laying my head on my now fiancés shoulder and he said, I think you should watch this! I looked up and started seeing pictures of myself, him and our daughter. I knew then he was about to propose......tears came rolling down my face! The video was over and we got up, Yogi Bear brought him the ring. He then got down on one and knee and asked the big question (mind you, this was in front of an audience of people we didn't know)! Definitely a day I will NEVER forget!!! P.S. At the time, I was around 12 weeks pregnant with our son who is now just over five months old.
awesome ride on skyscraper

Ice Castles at Wisconsin Dells - #MtOlympus #WisconsinDells
Ice Castles at Wisconsin Dells - TomEighty Videos. This is a video I took of the Ice Castles that were constructed in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin this year in the parking lot of Mt. Olympus. Brent Christensen is the founder and creator of this idea and ice castles and his first ice castle was in the lot next to his house in Utah and has grown to producing ice castles in 5 different states each year.
The layout of the castle includes a Throne Room, Light Tower, Maze, Slot Canyon, Small Slides, and a Fountain Room. I recommend going to this event if you are near one that has been built it is well worth the $12 dollar admission.
