Milan and Lake Como
Rick Steves' Europe Travel Guide | No trip to Italy is complete without Milan and Lake Como. In Milan we'll take a peek at Italy's highest fashion, fanciest delis, grandest cemetery, and greatest opera house...not to mention Leonardo's Last Supper. Then we'll cruise along Lake Como, settling down in the lakeside village of Varenna...classic honeymoon country, where Italy meets the Alps.

►More information:
Sforza Castle was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, on the remains of a 14th-century fortification.
Walking distance, you'll find this beautiful, newly designed and built district, with a dedicated metro stop called 3 torri.
The district is called CityLife: it's a residential, commercial and business district close the old city centre of Milan. It has an area of 36.6 hectares.
The development is financed by Generali Group, designed by famous architects Zaha Hadid, Arata Isozaki and Daniel Libeskind.
The Straight One also know as Allianz Tower, The Twisted One also known as Generali Tower and The Curved One which is being built as we speak.
Walking distance again is the the Parco Industriale Alfa Romeo Portello. A 370.000 square meter park in the heart of Milan. Important features are the 2 main little hills.
Go to the Bosco Verticale. 2 Towers built in 2014 by Boeri Studio with a height of 111 metres and 76 metres and contain more than 900 trees on 8,900 square metres of terraces.
Literally next to the bosco verticale are the Italian Google Head Quarters if you're interested. I'd recommend a mini stop here since it's a very beautiful area.
5 minute walking distance is the Uni Credit Tower, another masterpiece of modern architecture located in the most advanced and businessy district of Milan.
Go for Aperitivo at theNavigli near Porta Ticinese! It's a sort of Venice in Milan with water canals and beautiful little houses.
Not only it's a very romantic place but also serves late cocktails in the open, ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET BOTH for only 10 euros ALL INCLUDED!
If you're more into comfy dining, in a quieter place and super delicious a la carte dining, we recommend Piccola Ischia! It's a typical Restaurant from the center south of Italy!
Prices here are super good! The traditional hand made pizza from Naples for 8 Euros! Appetizers for 3 euros! And it's all so good!

Rome, Florence, Venice, Lucerne, Paris, London by train
Rome to London by train, featuring the best of Italy, Switzerland, France and England. Jump to the different cities or watch it all: Rome at 2:34; Florence at 8:43; Venice at 16:53; Lucerne at 22:42; Paris at 27:50; London at 34:10; Comments at 44:39
Rome highlights include lunch at Campo dei Fiori and a walking tour to the Pantheon, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Vatican Museum and St. Peters, best of Europe.
Florence is always listed in the world’s top-ten places to visit because of the Renaissance tradition we still see in the architecture, and the overall beauty of the city, not to mention great restaurants. Our walking tour with local guide brings us to the Duomo, Piazza della Signoria and across the Arno River to Oltrarno. We also enjoy steak at il Porcospino, a favorite restaurant, with a most friendly waiter, Franco.
Venice is the city of dreams, a place like no other, with water for streets and boats for cars. Our several walking tours bring us into the heart of town including: Rialto, San Marco, the Basilica, hidden restaurants, and of course, a gondola ride.
Lucerne is an ideal town to visit on your trip through Switzerland, with a lovely pedestrian zone, historic buildings in the typical style, waterfront cafes and views, and nearby mountains including Titlis, which we ascend in this journey.
Paris, perhaps the world’s most beautiful city, including: TGV arrival, walk to the Opera, Chartier dinner, stroll to Rue Montorgueil, open-top bus tour, Versailles, the Louvre, Latin Quarter and more…
London, capital of England, is our globe-trotting filmmaker’s favorite city, and this summary demonstrates why this city is so compelling. We bring you all over the center of town, including Soho, Covent Garden, Regent Street, Oxford Street, Burlington Arcade, Fortnum & Mason, Changing the Guard, open-top bus tour, Inns of Court, The City and the Tower of London.
Comments: An ideal Europe trip should include the major cities of London, Paris and Rome, along with a look at Switzerland in Lucerne, and the other greatest of Italian places, Florence and Venice. We summarize the journey with comments from our travelers about their favorites and general feelings about the trip, travelling by train and staying in each city for several days.

Milan: Leonardo da Vinci's Basin | Italia Slow Tour
The Porte Vinciane (Da Vinci's gates) are one of Da Vinci's places in Milan: a canal system that criss-crossed Milan, designed by Leonardo himself, in the past very important for communication and trade. Today, Da Vinci's gates represent a symbol for Milan, to demonstrate how much the city owes to the water and how the Navigli could be used for business, trade and leisure even nowadays.

Trams and Trolleys of Milan, Italy. August/September 2018.
Milan in northern Italy is home to an extensive tram network running on the odd track gauge of 1445 mm, known as Italian Gauge. The system is more than 170 km long and is the biggest network in Italy. Like many European tramways it features the use of large balloon loops at each end of the line to turn its trams. It's key feature in the second decade of the 21st Century, is the use of around 200 trams of the 1920s Peter Witt American streetcar design, of which this video focuses on heavily. These trams were first introduced in 1928 and at age 90 it is amazing to see them still in frontline service across several lines.
We also see the 4600/4700 series Jumbo trams in ues on Route 19 in both ATM livery and various advertising wraps, along with the newer 4900 series and the low floor 7500/7600 series on Route 9. The system is mostly flat, and relatively slow at a top speed of around 50 kmh, but features different styles of street running.
Milan also features trolleybuses, both rigid and articulated (Bendy Buses), which cross the tramway in numerous places.
There are other types of tram on the system, but not all types pass through or near a central location.
Thanks for watching! If you like what you see, please like, subscribe, click on the bell, and give me a thumbs up !!!
There is considerable effort - sometimes days of work - in producing these videos.
There are many more videos on this channel to watch, with more being made generally every week.

Italy . Milan /Milan tourist center
Milan is the capital of the Lombardy region, and the most populous metropolitan area and the second most populous comune in Italy.
Sforza Castle is a castle in Milan, northern Italy. It was built in the 15th century. The castle has a quadrangular plan, site across the city's walls. The wall which once faced the countryside north to Milan has square towers and has an ogival gate. This was once accessed through a drawbridge. The northern tower is known as Torre della Corte, while the western one is called ''Torre del Tesoro: both received wide windows during the Sforza age.
The Simplon Gate is located at the center of a wide round square known as Piazza Sempione (Simplon Square). It is adjacent to the Simplon Park, the main city park of Milan, which was designed with the explicit intent of providing panoramic views encompassing both the Arch and the nearby Sforza Castle.
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is one of the world's oldest shopping malls. Housed within a four-story double arcade in central Milan,[1] the Galleria is named after Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of the Kingdom of Italy.
Milan Cathedral is the cathedral church of Milan, Italy. Dedicated to St Mary of the Nativity it is the seat of the Archbishop of Milan, currently Cardinal Angelo Scola. The Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. It is the largest church in Italy (the larger St. Peter's Basilica is in the State of Vatican City) and the fifth largest in the world. The plan consists of a nave with four side-aisles, crossed by a transept and then followed by choir and apse. The height of the nave is about 45 meters, the highest Gothic vaults of a complete church (less than the 48 meters of Beauvais Cathedral, which was never completed).
The roof is open to tourists , which allows many a close-up view of some spectacular sculpture that would otherwise be unappreciated. The roof of the cathedral is renowned for the forest of openwork pinnacles and spires, set upon delicate flying buttresses.
The cathedral's five broad naves, divided by 40 pillars, are reflected in the hierarchic openings of the façade. Even the transepts have aisles. The nave columns are 24.5 metres (80 ft) high, and the apsidal windows are 20.7 x 8.5 metres (68 x 28 feet).
