Video of the Pantheon in Paris (France) - See inside the Pantheon of Paris (france)
In this video you can take a look inside the Panthéon of Paris.
The Panthéon is a building in the Latin Quarter in Paris. It was originally built as a church dedicated to St. Genevieve and to house the reliquary châsse containing her relics but, after many changes, now functions as a secular mausoleum containing the remains of distinguished French citizens. It is an early example of neoclassicism, with a façade modeled on the Pantheon in Rome, surmounted by a dome that owes some of its character to Bramante's Tempietto. Located in the 5th arrondissement on the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, the Panthéon looks out over all of Paris. Designer Jacques-Germain Soufflot had the intention of combining the lightness and brightness of the Gothic cathedral with classical principles, but its role as a mausoleum required the great Gothic windows to be blocked.
As with most famed buildings, the Pantheon Paris has its unique story. The reason the it was was built was to
replace the damaged Sainte-Genevieve church under the orders of Louis XV who was putting this monument up as
a gratitude to God after his health had recovered. Soufflot was chosen for accomplishing the task. He wanted to
have the Gothic style combined with the classical structure. Because of financial problems, Soufflot could not finish
the building during his life; he died before seeing it completed and his pupil who finished it, did not exactly have the
same ideas of his master and made some changes. However there is little doubt that this building is one of the greatest neoclassical monuments and a true masterpiece.
Shortly after the Pantheon was built (which was called back then the Sainte-Genevieve Church), came the French
Revolution. It was then when the Revolutionist government changed the church into a mausoleum, a place to
burry exceptional Frenchmen who had sacrificed their lives for their country or who had done something great for
France. The Pantheon flipped back and forth to a church over the years but eventually assumed its lasting role as
a burial place for martyrs and brilliant French citizens for good.
The sight that this building offers is quite fantastic. You can see literally see almost all of Paris. The inside
architecture is visually amazing: it has the Gothic decorations combined with the mainly classical style of the
building, creating such an admirable neoclassical monument. The Pantheon is a must-see when you visit Paris,
both because of the imposing architecture it has and in respect to the people that made the world a better place.

Experience all of the sights and sounds as Watched Walker (yes, I’m talking about myself in the third person) takes us on a walking tour through the streets of Paris, featuring the Panthéon on Montagne Sainte-Geneviève. The tour starts across from Le Jardin du Luxembourg (Luxembourg Gardens), then travels up Rue Soufflot to Place du Pantheon, ending outside the Panthéon.
Sights seen along the tour include shops (including Ma Librairie de Droit, Claudie Pierlot, Librairie LGDJ, Diwali Paris), restaurants (including Quick Burgers, La Fabrique Givrée, Amorino, Pomme De Pain, Le Soufflot, La Crêperie), Town hall of the 5th arrondissement (Mairie du 5e arrondissement), Court of Instance of Paris (Tribunal d'Instance of Paris), University Paris 2: Institute of Judicial Studies Pierre Raynaud (Université Paris 2: Institut d'études judiciaires Pierre Raynaud), a distant Eiffel Tower, and the Panthéon.
And in each video I've hidden a blinking eye, can you spot it? (It could appear more than once). In addition to the blinking eye, I've also added the Watched Walker logo to various scenes–it could be on buildings, vehicles or any other objects, so keep an eye out for it too!

Paris Pantheon, Paris (France) - Travel Guide
Take a tour of Paris Pantheon in Paris, France - part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats.
Some of France's greatest politicians, thinkers, and soldiers are eternally housed in the Pantheon in Paris.
A stunning neoclassical achievement, the Pantheon began as a promise by King Louis the 15th to replace a deteriorating church.
The reconstructed building, originally a house of worship built to honor the relics of St. Genevieve, was completed in 1790.
It became a meeting place of France's intellectuals and the site of important experiments, such as Foucault's pendulum.
The Pantheon has been the burial grounds for Frenchmen like Voltaire, Victor Hugo, and Alexander Dumas since it was first created.
The incredibly detailed interior and impressive domed exterior provide a proper resting place for France's heroes.

FAQ:
How long have you lived in France? On and off for over two years.
What do you miss most about ho- NACHOS
You're always talking about living on some ship. WHAT SHIP? - I made a Draw My Life video that explains a lot here:
Where are you from originally? - Pullman, Washington - a small university/agricultural town near Idaho (and yes, the potatoes are amazing).
What do you film with? - I've made a lot of changes recently, but I try to keep my gear list up to date if you want to see what I use and buy some for yourself:
What do you edit with? - Adobe Premiere - it's pretty much all I've ever used since high school.
Aren't you ever freaked out by leaving your camera behind to film yourself? - Yep. But not too badly - I tend to be careful when I do.
Why are you living in #Paris? - Because I've always wanted to; I feel at home here:
Do you speak French? Oui.
You talk a lot about the books you're working on, what are they about? - They're sci-fi (and fantasy) and I've got a decent pitch for you here:
Do you make money off YouTube? - Ha, no. I wish. It took me over 500 videos to make my first total $100 off adsense. I think it will slowly change, but VERY slowly.
I really enjoy your videos, how can I support you? - The easiest and best way to support me is through Patreon, where you can pitch in as little as $1/mo to help me make better videos:
I don't trust this Patreon thing - can I just paypal you? - Here's my ko-fi if that's your thing (and coffee is your game):
But I want to send you something tangible! - I do have a wishlist on Amazon, though it's a bit complicated with the international shipping situation. This is the US one:

The Pantheon - Paris
The Pantheon in Paris was built as a Basilica to honor the Patron Saint of Paris, St. Genevieve. It was completed in 1789 during the Revolution. Because of its links to the King, the National Assembly voted to transform it into a secular temple to honor all the great men and later women of France. Among the notables entombed at the Partheon are: Voltaire, Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Emil Zola and Marie and Pierre Currie. The Pantheon is located in the heart of the Latin Quarter adjacent to the University of Paris and about half a mile from Notre Dame.

The Panthéon is a building in the Latin Quarter in Paris. Designer Jacques-Germain Soufflot had the intention of combining the lightness and brightness of the Gothic cathedral with classical principles, but its role as a mausoleum required the great Gothic windows to be blocked.
King Louis XV vowed in 1744 that if he recovered from his illness he would replace the ruined church of the Abbey of St Genevieve with an edifice worthy of the patron saint of Paris. He did recover, and entrusted Abel-François Poisson, marquis de Marigny with the fulfillment of his vow. In 1755, Marigny commissioned Jacques-Germain Soufflot to design the church, with construction beginning two years later.
The overall design was that of a Greek cross with a massive portico of Corinthian columns. Its ambitious lines called for a vast building 110 metres long by 84 meters wide, and 83 metres high. No less vast was its crypt. Soufflot's masterstroke is concealed from casual view: the triple dome, each shell fitted within the others, permits a view through the oculus of the coffered inner dome of the second dome, frescoed by Antoine Gros with The Apotheosis of Saint Genevieve. The outermost dome is built of stone bound together with iron cramps and covered with lead sheathing, rather than of carpentry construction, as was the common French practice of the period. Concealed flying buttresses pass the massive weight of the triple construction outwards to the portico columns.
The foundations were laid in 1758, but due to economic problems work proceeded slowly. In 1780, Soufflot died and was replaced by his student, Jean-Baptiste Rondelet. The re-modelled Abbey of St. Genevieve was finally completed in 1790, coinciding with the early stages of the French Revolution. Upon the death of the popular French orator and statesman Honoré Gabriel Riqueti, comte de Mirabeau on 2 April 1791, the National Constituent Assembly, whose president had been Mirabeau, ordered that the building be changed from a church to a mausoleum for the interment of great Frenchmen, retaining Quatremère de Quincy to oversee the project. Mirabeau was the first person interred there, on 4 April 1791. Jean Guillaume Moitte created a pediment sculptural group The Fatherland crowning the heroic and civic virtues that was replaced upon the Bourbon Restoration with one by David d'Angers.
