Marché aux Puces de St-Ouen flea market. Bargain hunting in Paris.
Visiting the world famous of Marché aux Puces de St-Ouen flea market is a wonderful way to spend a day in Paris. A quintessentially French experience. It’s actually a series of 15 markets scattered around a few blocks that together, make up the Marché aux Puces. It’s mostly an antiques market where professional shoppers hunt for bargains. As one man’s junk is another man’s joy, it's impossible to walk away empty handed. Here you'll find antique furniture, ranging from baroque to Art Deco and Fifties, dish ware, perfume bottles, clocks, bronzes, toys, keys, books, antique lace, linens, military collectibles, old tools...The thrill is in the hunt. The inventory is always changing. It’s definitely a must visit for antique lovers but for those who love French music just like myself, it’s a great way to spend a weekend lunch at Chez Luisette (please see below). The real reason why people come here is to hear singers belt out songs by Piaf, Brel, Aznavour. The most authentic French experience ever. Enjoy!

Paris is always a good idea. A Love Letter to Paris.
Why do I love Paris? The people, the food, the wonderful sights, the history, the shopping? Hard to pinpoint... I think it's the feeling that I have when I am here...a feeling of being present, an immense sense of contentment and joy and the anticipation of new discoveries that the city has to offer. Have a great year filled with immense happiness! Have a wonderful New Year filled with success, health, prosperity.

How Expensive is Traveling in FRANCE? One Day in Paris
The many faces of Parisian life. La vie en rose, illusion or reality?
There is some truth to the saying that we Americans live to work and French work to live. There are significant differences between how we live in America and how the Parisians approach the joys of everyday living. The French strive to live a very passionate life. They have a keen focus on what's important to them and they manage to turn even the smallest things into an enjoyable experience. Even though most Parisians live life on a budget, that does not mean they live a dull life. They turn little moments such as having a cup of coffee into an enjoyable experience, 8:14. They find time to exercise (0:28 group led by an American coach, 7:40 wrestling, 4:40 jogging on the left bank), get their nails done 1:18, do some shopping 2:16, 4:54, and smell the roses 5:32. The French seem to have their cake and eat it too. They enjoy their life by indulging while practicing moderation, 7:58. But, could Paris of people’s imagination- the City of Light, the city of fine dining and world class couture and intellectual grandeur- be an illusion to some degree? Life in Paris can become unbearable at times. Taking the metro for example is not a pleasant experience especially if your life depends on it to commute to work. There’s hardly any ventilation, so you get a pretty good dose of bad smell almost all the time whenever you travel by metro! Paris is a large city with problems such as pollution, noise 3:16, 3:14 and homelessness 6:03. There are about 10,000 homeless people in Paris living on the streets, in metro stations or self-made shelters constructed from cardboard and wooden pallets, dragging their belongings behind them. It's Parisians' ability to concentrate on all beautiful things that render their lives enjoyable that helps them escape the difficulties of the city. Enjoying the little things isn’t just about noticing them but about creating opportunities to enjoy them. So elegant, so beautiful and so Parisian despite all the ugliness and the misery.

Today we are taking you all around to our favorite tourist spots that aren't typically on a Things to Do in Paris list. First we kick it off with a visit to The Louvre in the snow, and then follow us to Shakespeare and Comp any book store. This is one of the oldest book stores in Paris, and such a unique and quirky spot. We also visit Sainte Chapelle which has stained glass that easily rivals Notre Dame's stained glass. We also check out the Paris Opera that has absolutely gorgeous paintings and architecture.

Insider guide to shopping in Paris, Galerie Vivienne. French Savoir Faire at best.
There's nothing like shopping in Paris, especially if you're there during the Holiday Season. Splendidly restored Galerie Vivienne which is full of chic boutiques offers retail therapy par excellence. Galerie Vivienne, built in 1823, is one of the most iconic covered arcades in Paris. Here you'll find eady-to-wear boutiques, tea rooms, gourmet food boutiques, wine cellars, grocery shops, old bookshops and much more. It is also the perfect place when it's cold and rainy outside. Les Caves Legrand is arguably the best wine shop in Paris, Bistrot Vivienne is good for either a drink or a meal, and A Priori Thé is an elegant rendezvous for afternoon tea. Victoria’s shop in the Galerie Vivienne is my favorite. A highly-regarded, family-owned textile business dating back to 1875, Wolff & Descourtis. Here you'll find the finest silk and the most beautiful designs as well as shimmering velvet jacquards from Lyon. Asian-inspired designs, plant patterns, abstract or geometric representations. There is something for every taste. Enjoy!!!
