CROATIA Road Trip from Split to Zadar - Pit stop: Krka National Park, Primosten beach & Trogir
CROATIA Road Trip from Split to Zadar CROATIA- Pit stop: Krka National Park, Primosten beach & Trogir
We decided to hire a car and take a road trip from Split to Zadar and check out the coast line of Croatia. Driving along the coast line was amazing and highly recommended. The back drop from Split to Zadar was absolutely gorgeous and driving through it was so beautiful! What made it even more breathtaking was the sun setting behind the mountains.
While driving to Zadar, we stopped by Trogir which was a little town recommended by our uber lady. She was quite surprised we never heard of it and really encouraged to go. SO glad we did because it was such a beautiful town surrounded by these gorgeous turquoise water.
After that,we went to Primosten beach we found as we wanted to stop along and have a swim. This was also another beautiful pit stop.
Our last pit stop was KRKA national park. One of the main reasons why we went to Zadar was to see this amazing water fall. We got there a bit after 4pm and we were able to swim at the base of the waterfall. I think this was a great time to go as the sun was still out but everyone was going home. We JUST made it onto the last bus at 8PM.

Plitvice Lakes National Park (Plitvicka jezera) & Zadar Croatia | OMG OUR FERRY DIDN'T ARRIVE?!! ????
Plitvice Lakes National Park aka Plitvicka jezera & Zadar Croatia
We hired a car and did a road trip from Split to Zadar. We personally think it was one of the best ways to transition from one city to the next. We stopped along the coast line and went through to different pit stops and ended up in KRKA national park which and swam in their biggest waterfall.
The next day we went to Plitvice lakes and saw the gorgeous green/blue lakes. The colours were amazing! I would highly recommend going to Plitvice National Park especially if you’re into water falls. I would definitely suggest to go early though (around 7am) to avoid the crowds. Matt and I had every intention to leave at 5:30 am but we just couldn’t get up! hahaha and it was really busy by the time we got there. We had to follow the pace of the people in front of us in the trail.
We also went to a couple of beaches afterwards to enjoy the sun. We ended up back at old town to watch the gorgeous sunsets! I’d probably say it was one of my favourite sunsets I’ve ever watched! The coast line was uninterrupted and just had a beautiful view. There’s something about sunsets I really love!

The Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia’s most popular tourist attraction, was granted UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979. Located roughly halfway between capital city Zagreb and Zadar on the coast, the lakes are a definite must-see in Croatia. (As confirmed by the many emails we’ve received!)
The beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. The National Park covers a total area of 300 square kilometers, whilst the lakes join together over a distance of eight kilometers.

Our visit Zadar travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (Croatian), top sightseeing tourist attractions and the city by day including visiting churches, parks, the old town, quirky neighborhoods, museums, observation points and roman ruins. We also cover off-the-beaten-path outdoor activities you won't find in a typical Zadar tourism brochure, Zadar itinerary or Zadar, Croatia city tour also known as Zadar, Hrvatska.
10 Things to do in Zadar, Croatia Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Let's visit Zadar, Croatia together as we cover 10 of the best things to do in Zadar in this travel guide.
Our first stop was Queen Jelena Madijevka Park which has the distinction of being the oldest public park in Croatia. The park looks over the Land Gate which is the main entrance to the Old Town.
During the 16th century, the Venetians helped Zadar withstand the Turkish sieges by building a large water cistern with five wellheads, giving this square its name. These five wells were used to supply the city with water until the year 1838.
Among the ruins of the forum, you might notice there’s one particular Roman column that still stands intact. This one is called the shame post which during the Middle Ages was used to chain and humiliate people who had committed crimes.
The Church of St. Donatus sits in the middle of the Roman Forum and it dates back to the beginning of the 9th century. The church was built in the Byzantine-style in a circular shape - typical of the early medieval construction in Dalmatia. This church has seen many uses from warehouse to museum, but these days it hosts concerts.
Located right next to St. Donatus, the bell tower is actually part of St Anastasija's Cathedral. Climbing this Romanesque bell tower is not for the faint of heart, especially once you reach the spiralling metal staircase on the last floor, but if you make it, you are rewarded with views of the town and the marina.
The meal came to 32 Euros for two mains, two glasses or red wine, and two desserts. The truffle gnocchi was our favourite truffle dish in Croatia.
When it comes to sunset, there are quite a few spots to choose from. We really enjoyed the pier right across from the Roman Forum, however, the Sea Organ is another popular spot. If you do go to the Sea Organ for sunset, you can also check out the Greeting to the Sun, which is another unusual art installation.
This solar-powered work of art lights up in an array of colours once the sun goes down.
Lastly, we leave you with a few scenes of Zadar at night.
We hope you enjoyed this video and we’ll see you in the next one as we continue our travels in Croatia.

Plitvice Lakes National Park - Most Beautiful hike | CROATIA
Subscribe to my channel:
Plitvice Lakes National Park is amazing. It's famous for it's 16 lakes and countless cascades, waterfalls, small rivers and streams.
If you take the bus to the top and walk down it takes about 4-6 hours and you walk on these wooden bridges made out of rafters so be careful not to fall of when the surrounding nature is busy distracting you.
Plitvice Lakes is one os the most beautiful places I have ever been, the blur, green and turquoise lakes with all the misty green waterfalls everywhere is just breathtaking.

Plitvice Lakes | Croatia National Park | 1.5 Hours from Zadar
I use Sony HX99 for recording all my videos. It is lightweight, point and shoot camera.
Check it out on:⤵
This was my first experience of visiting a National Park and probably my last one too.
We stayed in Zadar during our trip to Croatia and drove up to the Plitvice Lakes National Park.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is about 1.5 hours drive from Zadar
Plitvice National Park is the most amazing picturesque National Park you would ever visit.
But unfortunately, once you enter, there is no way to come out without walking through the whole lot. Every time we asked people to tell us a short cut, they said, it is only 10 minutes away. It took hours to get out and I felt claustrophobic the second half of the time I was there and was totally relieved to get back to the buses that take you back to the car park (you can't get to the park with your car and have to take buses from the car park)
Having said that the buses stop and if you miss the last one you are walking to the car park as well as having walked through the whole national park

Plitvička Jezera (Croatia) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Plitvička Jezera in Croatia.
Hidden within the densely wooded mountain region of Mala Kapela is Croatia’s most famous natural landmark, the Plitvička Jezera Nature Park, a land of cascading lakes. It is a well-protected natural environment which developed in travertin synclines, a world of water and exceptional plant life. Caves such as the Šupljara Cave, situated within a ravine at Lower Lake were created many thousands of years ago. Erosion and corrosion in the karst caused cracks in the limestone layer and gradually carved out its wide limestone ravine. For seven kilometres sixteen lakes have formed within a gorge, similar to the links of a chain, and connected by various cascades and waterfalls. It is a strange area, full of mystique and for centuries, long forgotten, a no-man's-land of wonderful nature. There are the Upper and Lower Lakes. They differ not only in their location but particularly in their geological features. The Upper Lakes are located on a Dolomit base which forms the typical features of stream dolines and wooded subsidence whereas, in contrast, the Lower Lakes are situated within rocky limestone. Kozjak Lake is more than two kilometres long and stretches in a north-south direction framed by dense forests which extend to the shores of the lake. There are no footpaths, only tranquil boat trips that take travellers to the Lower Lakes. Depending on the quantity of available water, the white foam of the magnificent Veliki Slap Waterfall and its rushing waters produces a swirling mist created by millions of water droplets as onlookers enjoy the soothing drizzle. A constantly changing landscape, the Plitvice Lakes are a true miracle of nature.
